About the property

Apartment, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 5-6)

You will feel so much 'at home' in our beautiful Petite Maison, on the easily accessible ground floor of a lovely 17th century building, situated in one of Paris' most charming neighborhoods. Our little 'quartier' is featured in Frommer's 'Memorable Walks in Paris;' it is truly one of the most historic, lovingly preserved areas in the entire city.

Our historic two-bedroom, two-bath 820 s.f. pied a terre is tucked away on a serene side street; you'll awaken to the sounds of birds chirping in our private garden, along with the bells of the magnificent cathedral of Notre Dame, which appears like magic when you turn out of our front door.

Our 'little house' in the city (so-named by some Parisian friends) is just steps from the bouquinistes (booksellers) which line the Seine, and a five minute walk to the famous Place St. Michel and the excitement of the Latin Quarter. Within minutes you can see the Sorbonne, the Roman baths and Unicorn Tapestries at the Cluny Museum, take a quick stroll to Ile St. Louis, visit the Conciergerie where Marie Antoinette spent her waning days, or take in a fabulous classical concert at the famous St. Chappelle built by Louis the IX.

Our lovely neighborhood is very French, a rarified historic district filled with galleries, artisans, restaurants and unique shops. The wonderful open air market on Place Maubert is a three-minute walk, as is the Metro and a plethora of bakeries, wine purveyors and a fabulous cheese shop.

The apartment itself is exceedingly comfortable and handsomely furnished. It features two quiet bedrooms (one upstairs, and one down), each with a tres chic new en suite bathroom -- perfect for two couples or a family. Both can be made up with two twins, or one king sized bed. A comfortable day bed in the living room accommodates a fifth guest. The spacious living room is a perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine with friends and recount the day's adventures.

The recently renovated, gorgeous kitchen equipped with high end European appliances is fully equipped to whip up some French cuisine using your finds from the market at Place Maubert. Petite Maison's unique architectural features include classic 'tommettes' (old tiles) on the floor and a barrel vaulted brick ceiling in the living room. A striking iron chandelier illuminates the large dining table, where you can spread out your repast, and bask in the light from two walls of windows. We are also blessed with a private garden, a lovely place to enjoy a morning coffee during the warm summer months, and a working fireplace to keep you cozy on winter nights.

Our Paris based American manager is just a phone call away should an unexpected problem arise. He is also available to assist with restaurant, event or tour reservations, as well as to arrange transportation. A personalized 'users guide' filled with our personal recommendations will help make the most of your sojourn in our favorite city in the world. A DVD with French themed movies; a CD player with music library and travel guides are also on hand should you decide to enjoy a quiet evening 'chez nous.'

The nightly rate for up to five guests is $450. Please note that our cancellation policy is 90 DAYS IN ADVANCE OF OCCUPANCY - VRBO/HomeAway doesn't allow this option in their system, but in our experience, since European travelers normally plan/book their vacations far in advance, this period of time is required in order to rebook our rental. Your 50% deposit (required to reserve dates) is fully refundable up to 90 days before the date you arrive; once the balance is paid the reservation is non-refundable. We will process any deposit refunds outside of the VRBO system.

If you are looking for lovely, comfortable and quiet accommodations just steps away from all the best Paris has to offer, look no further than Petite Maison.

Gave this property 5 stars because I would stay again and recommend to family and friends.

Many positives about this apartment including:

1. Location: close to many necessary stores including bakery, grocery, pharmacy, ATM, Metro, cafes, restaurants and Notre Dame.

2. Apartment: Quiet yet very accessible, safe, nice open common space with kitchen, desk, living and dining room. 2 bedrooms each with own bath. Perfect for me and my twin daughters.

3. Nice outdoor patio area.

4. Excellent responsiveness from Michelle B. and Michelle L.

Small suggestions that might be helpful:

1. We received the wrong property information via email (which is a rare occurrence) so we had given the wrong address to several tour companies and spent over an hour when we arrived trying to get wifi to work. Michelle L. and I finally figured out what was wrong and she gave me the correct wifi info. I received the correct PDF 2 days later.

2. The Blue Book in the apartment is very helpful. An entry needs to be added on how to work the stove. It is not intuitive. In addition, the lady that showed us the apartment upon arrival (neither Michelle) did not know everything. When I asked about the printer that was in the wrong brochure I had received, she said there was no printer. Later, when I asked Michelle L. to print tickets for us, she said the printer was in the cabinet under the bar directly behind the desk chair. It worked great as long as you have USB connection. It would have been helpful to have this info in both the Blue Book and in the PDF property description. It was in neither place.

3. The kitchen is well stocked. I would only suggest adding lids for the saucepans.

4. Ants came into the apartment through the garden patio door. This may not bother most people, but it did us. We were able to stuff a towel along the bottom of the door and stick a paper bag along the side of door to keep them out.

Lastly, if you are 6'4" or taller, your head would hit the beams in the master bedroom downstairs. Not a problem for us, but would have been if my husband had been with us.

Overall, it is a terrific apartment and we had an amazing time in Paris.

Beautiful property in a perfect location.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for 4 nights to kick off a two week graduation trip for our oldest daughter. Found the property on vrbo....we had never tried this before and were a bit hesitant, however it was even better than described in the many positive reviews.

Michelle, the owner, was prompt in her reply, incredibly organized, and helpful with pretrip tips. We had travelled to Paris many times but found new favorites from her extensive recommendations.

The manager, also named Michelle, was charming, English speaking. She met us at the apartment after arranging a driver for us from the train station. Gave us the keys and thorough orientation to the house.

The property is charming, roomy by Paris standards and very well equipped. Clearly the owner has spent much time and effort in making this a special retreat.

The location was perfect. Literally steps away from Notre Dame as well as Metro, RER and Batobus stops. Because of this we were able to cover a lot of ground easily. There is a market three times a week, plus excellent boulanger, charcuterie, and cheese shops right in the Maubert square and a Grandprix as well.

We loved having breakfast outside in the small garden. Could not believe how quiet it was given the central location.

We hope to return on our next visit. Thank you, Michelle!

Excellent. I would recommend this property without reservation.

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were new VRBO customers, having never rented a property through Home Away, and were slightly nervous about leasing an apartment versus staying in a hotel. We shouldn't have been, based on our experience with this beautiful apartment and its outstanding management. The owner was very accessible, responsive and helpful in answering my questions. The on-site manager, Michelle Lollo, was simply fantastic. She helped us book a driver, brought extra supplies when we ran short and was unfailingly helpful, professional and caring. The property itself is in a wonderful location, very near Notre Dame, but on a quiet side-street, with excellent restaurants and shopping nearby. The owner has created a beautiful, restful and exceedingly comfortable space, while making use of every square foot of precious real estate. She has anticipated her guests every need down to the most minute detail. The apartment was in top-notch shape, with modern appliances and a very useable kitchen. The beds were extremely comfortable. I would whole-heartedly recommend this lovely apartment. It became our home away from home for a perfect four days in Paris!

Great location in the heart of it all! Beautiful flat.

  • 5 of 5

My family and I spent an extended weekend here and had an amazing time. The flat is just like the pictures and it's very clean and tidy. Unlike some of the other HomeAway places I have stayed in the past, this one lived up to all our expectations. I would definitely recommend this for anyone looking to have a great place to stay in the heart of Paris. Be sure to check out the open air market every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday only a block away, for some of the freshest food around. Enjoy!

We adored Petite Maison

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we arrived, our stay at Petite Maison was excellent beyond our expectations. We were so warmly greeted by David, and shown around the apartment, and marveled in the luxurious amenities and high quality of the details and accommodations.

The location is perfect - an easy walk to many superb restaurants, the Metro, Notre Dame and Place Maubert.

We can't wait to return and can highly recommend Petite Maison.

PS: Winter in Paris in the time to go; it's not crowded, the pace is a bit more relaxed, the restaurants are less busy and the museums less "touristed." Wear comfortable shoes and warm clothes.

Fabulous!!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a wonderful time at the Petite Maison. The apartment is very clean, has high quality linens, comfortable beds, and is well organized. Every thing you need for your stay is just a few blocks away. Think cheese and baguettes!! The apartment is close to the metro and there is also a taxi stand nearby making it easy to get around the city. Michelle was easy to work with and replied quickly to my emails. Overall, it is a fabulous apartment and I highly recommend it.
