About this property

Located in the heart of the medieval Moorish and Jewish neighborhood of Alfama, the apartment has a stunning water view over the Tagus estuary. Within walking distance from many of Lisbon's leading museums and monuments, the apartment is in close proximity to local grocers and supermarkets as well as neighborhood restaurants, cafes, bars as well as eclectic shops of every kind.

The apartment is in an 18th century building nestled into a steep slope of one of Lisbon’s hills, 100 meters above sea level. So while its main and private entrance is on the ground-floor, you can enjoy the stunning river view from the second floor balconies on the other side of the apartment, without having to climb any stairs.

The building is facing south, the apartment is sunny and bright all day long. You can sit in the living room and admire Lisbon’s beauty while overlooking red-tiled rooftops that are set against the blue water of the Tagus river.

The apartment is in close proximity to all types of public transportation: tram, bus and subway.

A BABY FRIENDLY APARTMENT:
We like to welcome babies and children with love and affection.
That's why we have all the necessary equipment so that the little ones feel very comfortable.
Upon request, we can provide a baby bed with an extra mattress, bed linens and bath towels, high chair for meals, stroller, bathtub, A playing mat, small table and chairs, toys, books and games depending on age.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:
- June 13th is Saint Anthony's day (Lisbon city holiday) and so it is a time of festivities, with traditional parties in the streets all over Lisbon until dawn, mainly in the oldest and most historical neighborhoods. The neighborhood of Alfama (where the apartment is) is one of the main sites of these festivities, with music, dancing, food, and hundreds of people in the streets. These festivities usually take place over a whole week, but mostly on the weekends before and after the 13th, and also on the night of the 12th to 13th of June. Our apartment has double-glazed windows and heavy wooden shutters, but on these days it will be noisier than usual. However, this is a very special time in Lisbon and it is worth joining the party :-).

- We prepare the house with all our care, attention to detail and tailored to our guests. We ask you to look after it with the same care and in the best way possible.

- Respect the neighbours not making too much noise, especially after 10 pm.

- We can be flexible with check-in and check-out timings as long as they do not conflict with other reservations.

- For stays longer than a week, we offer an extra cleaning with changing of sheets and towels.

- When making your reservation for more than two guests, please note that there is a small extra payment. This will be visible in the breakdown of the total price of the reservation.

- In case of the apartment is not available on the dates that you want, the Courtesy team has other apartments in the VRBO also in the historic area of the city.

- Casa d'Alfama is duly registered in the Tourism Authority of Portugal (#986/AL) and respects Portuguese laws and regulations.

Lovely apartment in super location

Beautifully restored and maintained apartment in Alfama. Communication and assistance from Bruno and his family all excellent. Great area with numerous good restaurants and small shops. Highly recommended.

First time in Lisbon 🤩

The location was great (it is in the old town which is a bit hilly, but otherwise perfect). The apartment was characterful, well-kept, spacious and clear, with good facilities and a great sea view. Cristina did a great job checking us in and making us feel comfortable, she arranged a taxi for pick up on the last day and was a great host. Lisbon was awesome and the apartment was a great place to explore from.

The apartment was light and spacious with white walls and beautiful wood flooring.

We really enjoyed staying in Casa Alfama. When we arrived, walking through the hallway to the rooms which overlook the river was a pleasure. Great views out over the river and rooftops of Alfama. Lovely to watch the swallows circling outside when we opened the shutters in the morning and watch the changes on the river as we had our meal in the evening by the windows. The apartment is clean and fresh, kitchen is well equipped, the beds are comfy and there are good fans in the three main rooms to keep the air cool on hot days and evenings. My daughter liked to relax in the hammock in the small room adjacent to the bedroom; the hammock was one of the many individual touches that gave the apartment its unique character. East access to the many small restaurants, bakeries and mini markets in the immediate vicinity. The apartment is quiet in this vibrant area, but still gives a sense of being at the heart of this fascinating part of Lisbon. We walked to the train station in about ten minutes to access the metro into the centre of Lisbon. The walk back takes a little longer, as it's uphill, but there is always something new to see, taking another route back through the many small streets. I would recommend this apartment to friends, as it provides a very comfortable and relaxing space to stay in while on holiday in Lisbon.

This apartment was excellent. It had everything that you could possibly need and was very clean.

We had a fantastic experience here for four nights in April. Margarid was excellent at check in and was full of helpful information and was always on hand to help if required. Thank you. The location is perfect and close to a great variety of shops, bars and restaurants. It a short walk down to the waterfront and has excellent transport links. Cristina provoided fantastically detailed map of the local area that came useful for the duration of the stay. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property to anyone looking for a quality holiday apartment.
