False property description, terrible communication, uncaring owner but great location and view
It’s hard to summarise this property as it really was a holiday of two halves. On one side the property is in a great location with beaches and attractions within an easy short drive. The views are breathtaking. However, there were some unforgivable problems that we encountered. On arrival we were shown around, there is no property guide so if you do go to this house make sure you note down any questions you may have as there’s nothing to guide you whilst you are there. The pool house was sold as a separate entity with its own access and kitchen. When we entered there was no kitchen! We asked where it had gone and were told that it was removed 8 months ago but on Homeaway there is still a photo of the kitchen and it’s in the description. We had chosen this property because we were travelling as two families and so would not have booked the villa if we’d have known. When I contacted the owner she said - no one else has had a problem with it. We were then shown the main house which had a kitchen (thank goodness!!) and nicely laid out sitting area. We were shown the bedrooms and told where to get a fan from if we were too hot. I asked where the air conditioning was as the property online said ‘air conditioning in all rooms’ - the lady said no, it’s only on the communal space and master room. The two bedrooms without air conditioning got so hot during our stay and were so uncomfortable. Once again , with two young children, we specifically were only wanting to book a property that had air con in all rooms to cool it down enough for the children to sleep well.
Then the final straw was when we discovered the front door (a sliding one) didn’t lock. I rang the owner, left a voicemail and sent her an email to which I had a reply saying that it’s a known problem with the door and one they can do nothing about until after the main season as the whole door needs replacing so they were waiting until no tourists were there. I couldn’t believe it - we were unable to lock our property at all, which left us a) not wanting to leave our belongings when going out and b) feeling unsafe with two children asleep in an open property. We ended up having to wedge it shut with brooms. I eventually spoke to the owner who did not care at all and said again - it’s not something anyone else had a problem with. Never again will we book and I would urge others to consider that if there are problems with your villa do you want an unresponsive, uncaring owner.
