About this property

Large Beautiful historical home, 10 min walk to downtown, Hot Tub

4 Season rental! Beautiful Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer. Historical Events, Festivals, Art Shows all year round. Centrally located, walking distance to ALL of town.
Ski Santa fe (Ski Basin) 20 min from Casa Bonita. Lots of snow, great for a all winter sports.
Check out Santa fe tourism for all local Festivals. i.e Indian Market, Folk Festival, Spanish art and textile festival etc.
WE EMAIL YOU A GUEST LETTER WHEN YOU BOOK. It tells you to call Poncho our property mananger to gain access to Casa Bonita. He will give you the door and alarm codes at 3 PM the day you arrive. Ask Poncho if we are able, we will get you in early on the day of arrival, It depends on our cleaning crew.

When you come in thru the front door you will be amazed by our 13 foot ceilings and the size of our great room and art. We have a large 60- inch TV. It is voice activated with the remote. We have a large wood burning fireplace in the Great room. We also have a Piano. There is plenty of wood in the winter for the large fireplace.
The granite kitchen is very large and fully equipped! The dining room seats 8-10 people and you can seat another 5 people in front of our granite countertop in the kitchen. We have two King beds and 5 Queen beds, a Queen sofa sleeper and very large sleeping couch. .The sleeping couch and Queen Sofa Sleeper are in the Great Room.

We are a 15-17 minute walk from the center of Santa Fe and lots of restaurants, bars and Museums. We are on Palace Ave. Just walk down Palace and you are at La Posada Hotel. It is about a10 minute walk from Casa Bonita. They have a great restaurant, Julia and two bars. You are in downtown Santa Fe in 15 minutes! Or You can also turn left when you leave Casa Bonita and walk down El Alamo Street to the river, turn left, cross the street and walk to the bridge. In10 minutes you are at the Compound Restaurant. It is 5 stars! Great food and drink! If you continue walking, you are on Canyon Road and lots of art galleries and restaurants. We like Geronimo's, a 5- star restaurant and El Faro. El Faro is the oldest restaurant in Santa Fe. They have Flamingo dancing several nights a week. Make a reservation!

Indian Market in Santa Fe is the biggest Native American art market in the U.S. It starts the third Thursday of August every year! Lots of Native Americans from all over the country! Paintings, Jewelry etc. Plan to Book early! Lots of fun!

The annual Hot Air Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque in October is a bucket list experience! You arrive just before the sunrise and watch over 300 hot air balloons take off! It is amazing! It is about 30 minutes from Santa Fe! Plan to book early! Take a coat it is chilly.
We also enjoy taking the Cumbres and Tolec Scenic Train from Chama, NM to Osier ,CO in the summer. It is an old classic steam train from the mining and logging days. We recommend lunch at Osier and then a return on the train to Chama. The lunch at Osier is great! It is a day long trip and a lot of fun. The views are stunning. We have seen large herds of Elk, Deer and some Bears while riding the train. Unlike the Silverton, Colorado train you are up high in the Rockies with great views!

Restaurants: We have the best location in Santa Fe and are a 15-20 minute walk to the famous Plaza and Canyon Road. There are over 100 art galleries on Canyon Road. If you come out the front door of Casa Bonita and turn left you are on El Alamo Street. Walk a half block and you are at the Santa Fe River. Turn left and go to the bridge. You can walk across the bridge to the Compound Restaurant for dinner. It takes about 10 minutes. If you continue past the Compound you are on Canyon Road and a 5 minute walk to Geronimo's and El Farol Restaurants. These are three of our favorite Santa Fe Restaurants. El Farol is the oldest restaurant and bar in Santa Fe. It was founded in the 1800's. The southwestern food is some of the best I have ever had!
There are also lots of galleries on Canyon Road which are fun to stroll through.

If you come out the front door and go down Palace Ave. You are a 10 to15 minute walk to the Shed Restaurant. They have great lunches and dinners. This is one of our favorite restaurants in Santa Fe! If you want to eat at the shed, make a reservation! It is a popular restaurant! They open at 11 AM for lunch and close at 3 PM. They open for dinner at 5 PM . Make a reservation!
If you continue down Palace Ave. you enter the Famous Plaza which has lots of art galleries and several great restaurants. There are lots of Native Americans on the Plaza selling jewelry and art. For breakfast we suggest the Plaza Cafe on the Plaza. It has a great menu. There are over 300 restaurants in Santa Fe.

Wineries & Casinos: There are numerous Wineries and Casinos near Santa Fe. As you leave Santa Fe and head north towards Taos there are a number of Casinos & wineries/ tasting rooms along the highway. One of the big casinos is Buffalo Thunder. It has Las Vegas style gambling and shows!
You can spend a fun day just stopping at the tasting rooms and trying their wines and enjoying the Casinos.

You can also drive a half hour to Bandelier National Monument Cliff Dwellings. You can actually climb up ladders to the cliff dwellings. Some of these are over 1000 years old! Take a lunch when you go to Bandelier.

Los Alamos NUCLEAR MUSEUM is about 45 minutes from CASA Bonita. It is very interesting and has the history of the ATOM Bomb and all of the famous scientists that developed them. Oppenheimer is of course the most famous.

In the summer there is the World Famous Santa Fe Opera. It is a 15 minute drive from Casa Bonita. The Operas are some of the best in the country!

You can also go rafting on the Rio Grand during the summer.

Big House w/ All the Amenities
This house was a gem. It had a great size, living space, a wonderful, gourmet kitchen, and dining area. For our teenage students, the ping-pong table was a daily activity. The rooms were comfortable and plenty of bathrooms to share amongst us. I would definitely book this place again for a large group the property manager Pancho was very helpful and communicated with us when needed. I even got a phone call from the property owner welcoming us to their home. Thank you for everything.

Wonderful Stay
Our family had a wonderful time at this property. There was plenty of room for us all to gather together or to have some quiet time apart. The kitchen was well stocked and the home was so warm and inviting and appointed with interesting decor and furnishings. Location is exceptional - walking distance to plaza and other areas of interest and easy drive to ski. The owners thought of everything and communication was excellent. Highly recommend!

Bonita is a registered assistant. She grew up in Santa Fe and we love the ambience of the city. It is the second oldest city in the United States and was the capital of the Spanish South West. It was started in the Early 1600's.

Why they chose this property

Bonita grew up in this home! We completed a $700,000 remodel several years ago and Casa Bonita is beautiful! This is one of the largest officially permitted rental homes in the Historic District of Santa Fe and the closest to the famous Plaza!

What makes this property unique

Location, Location, Location and everything is new! We are one of the only 5 bedroom, 4 bath rental homes in the historic district and only an 8 - 10 minute walk from the famous Plaza and Canyon Road. Everything is new and we have the best location in Santa Fe!! We are on famous Palace Ave! If you walk down Palace Ave. you enter the famous Plaza after a short walk. This is the center of Santa Fe and where the wagon trains would end their journey after months of travel from Missouri and Kansas on the Santa Fe Trail. This occurred from 1821 to around 1880 when the Santa Fe Rail Road reached the out skirts of Santa Fe at the town of Lamy.

Casa Bonita is only 20 - 30 minutes from the Santa Ski Basin! Great skiing from Thanksgiving until the middle of April!
