Late Fall and Winter months we highly recommend 4 wheel drive. The weather can change quickly in the High Country.

“Rocky Meadows" Cottage by the Pond, my husband and I rent out for short term rentals. "Rocky Meadows" Cottage By The Pond is located on a 1 acre pond 3.5 miles from Blowing Rock's Main Street, where shopping and restaurants abound. Minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway and just off scenic Highway 221 on the way to Grandfather Mountain. Bring your tent and pitch on the shore of the pond for the kids or go hiking in the adjacent woods.

For those who want seclusion plus the convenience of being close to everything, it is the perfect spot.

Absolutely wonderful!

This place was better than described! Clean, cozy, and secluded! The pond is amazing! This place has everything needed for a mountain getaway! Very close to all the amenities in town, but just far enough out. The pond is an easy walk across the front yard on level ground. Several good spots around it to wet a hook, including a small pier. This would be a great mountain spot for elderly, or people with minor mobility issues. Just a few steps to get onto the porch, then cottage layout is all on one floor. We will be staying here again!

This just became our favorite place to stay!

What everyone wants to know: Clean, clean, clean. King size bed was very comfortable. Small, but had everything we could ask for. Great location! The pond was beautiful and great to walk around, or just sit and enjoy. You felt like you were in your own oasis, yet only roughly 10 mins. drive to Blowing Rock. Wonderful hosts, very pleasant answered any and all questions. Just the best, period!! We will be back!

If you seek peace, quiet, and privacy this is the place. 4WD a plus during winter as it takes a minute to reach the house from the highway, downhill in, uphill out. We will be back!

Great location and very clean!

We just returned from a quick trip to the area for some snow tubing, relaxing, and hiking. This little cabin was a perfect fit for our family of 3 plus our dog. It’s private but not isolated and we enjoyed walking around the pond and sitting on the swing everyday. The owners provide everything you’d need and the place was very clean. There was even wood waiting in the fire pit but we didn’t get a chance to use it. Wi-Fi was great too. The best part was checking out without having a long list of clean-up tasks like so many rentals these days. This was the best cabin experience we’ve had.

"Rocky Meadows" has been in my fathers family since around 1929. I now rent out my fathers cottage "A Cottage by the Pond" along with my own "Rocky Meadows Cottage" to help pay for his medical care. My fathers' great aunt Minerva Walker Goldsmith "Aunt Bea" purchased Rocky Meadows around 1929 in order to spend summers away from the heat of Palm Beach. Aunt Bea was known for her modernist watercolor landscape paintings. She developed a love for the mountains and sold property to her friends, one being Phillip Moose, and established Artist Alley. My father built this cabin with very little assistance in 2006. It took him 2 years to complete.
