Experience Tuscany in a Fully Restored 14th Century Hamlet!

Bedrooms 2
Property type castle

About the property

2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Cortona Village Heights is the result of a ten-year restoration project by renowned restoration engineer Fulvio Di Rosa. It maintains as faithfully as possible its medieval feel, atmosphere and look, without compromising modern-day comforts and needs.

The intimate two-bedroom residence condominium has been brought back to life in order to spirit guests back to a more austere era and to embrace them with the true experience of living in a rural Tuscan Hamlet. Original 14th century low doorways and small windows cut through thick stone walls lend an authentic feel.

Among the ancient architecture you will find genuine rural furnishings and Tuscan antiques, terra cotta floors, wooden beam ceilings, fully equipped kitchens and cozy bathrooms, handcrafted cutlery, satellite television, High-speed Internet connections and luxurious Busatti linens.

PLEASE NOTE: These are individually suited residences and photos may not accurately represent the residence you are assigned at check-in.

Very beautiful but also rather isolated

  • 4 of 5

This property is unusual and that gives both a positive and negative aspect. The hamlet and setting are lovely and the pool is delightful and just what you need on a hot day or evening. The restaurant is delicious and the staff is friendly and welcoming and helpful. The homes all have true character and each home has an individual outdoor table and lounge chairs. The aesthetics are really wonderful.

The downside for some people will be that the hamlet is separated from any other village. It consists of the homes, the pool, and a trattoria offering dinner most nights and brunch on Sundays. It does not offer a cafe, nor breakfast and there is nothing within walking distance of the hamlet. The closest towns are 10 minutes drive in one direction and 20 minutes in the other. The road in and out is gravel, steep, and slow for 2K. Driving 10 minutes just to get an espresso in the morning does not make any sense and walking isn't an option. This caught us off-guard. Alternatively, you can preorder some nice, basic groceries from the simple store and they will be waiting in the kitchen when you arrive, but you need to know this in advance. We did not. And you won't have a cappuccino.

An SUV is a good rental option for this location; we didn't know that either.

The homes are beautifully restored and with an eye towards as much authenticity as possible. This also means no a/c in the bedrooms and the staircase in our particular unit would be dangerous for children or anyone with coordination or mobility issues.
