Centuries old five bed/bath farmhouse in idyllic surroundings

In the midst of lush gardens, La Seillane is situated near the mediaeval town of Lorgues (Var) – nestled between the renowned vineyards of Chateau Ste. Foy and La Gavaison, The centuries old large farmhouse has been meticulously restored, with unexpected architectural details. The music room features a Bechstein grand piano and is overlooked by a large library, There are five bedrooms (each with en-suite bathroom), as well as two sofabeds for unexpected friends,

Shaded by 300 year old mulberry trees, the south-facing terrace offers various seating and dining areas. Perfect for nature lovers and people who want to get away from it all there are herb gardens overrunning with thyme and rosemary, water gardens, ponds and many fruit trees in the orchard, apples,, figs, apricot, , almond, cherry, , - help yourselves!). For those so inclined, there is a greenhouse and vegetable patch for seasonal produce.....

There are chickens, ducks and a goose living in the olive grove, as well as tortoises and two fish ponds – guaranteeing interest for almost any young children. The large pool is completely natural and chemical free and overlooks fields and horse paddocks (about five hectares, all belonging to the property).

Wifi, freesat UK / French TV and a well-equipped film library are all at your disposal.

Just over an hour from the airports of Nice and Marseille, the house is also very convenient for the TGV station at Aix. The village of St Antonin, a short walk away, has a boulangerie, hairdresser, bar/restaurant and an excellent shop. The region is renowned for its Chateaux and vineyards, and charming villages such as Salernes, Villecroze, Tourtour and Cotignac are nearby.

With an electric gate and no close neighbours, the house is a lovely destination for families or groups of friends. (From the beginning of June through to the end of September). With endless warm evenings there are many wonderful picnic areas in the fields and woods that belong to the house. We can also put you in touch with an excellent local chef

Local interests include the fabulous Provencal markets and famous restaurants in Lorgues, as well as horse-riding, kayaking, tennis and the seaside resort towns such as St. Tropez. Slightly further afield are historical gems such as Avignon, Les Baux and Arles.

Jean-Michel looks after the garden and the pool and lives nearby.. Irene our housekeeper comes in at least twice a week. If required she can come more often.

It is a big, rambling old farmhouse with many charming places offering solitude when needed, and warmth and conviviality for all the other moments. The canal that runs through the property is fed from an underground source and is a never-ending source of wonder.
