Comfortable 2 bedroom apartment near the sea

A few years ago I visited Los Alcazares for the first time and instantly fell in love with it, as did my family and friends who were encouraged to follow my lead. In August 2015 I bought this property because it ticked all my boxes; it's close to the sea, shops, tapas bars and supermarkets and most important to me the walk to delightful Playa Los Narejos is only 8-10 minutes from the apartment. The nearest small super market is less than 5 minutes and, even closer is Camaleon, a super eating place. I knew it must be good because most of the clientele were locals - always a good sign for foodies. On the subject of the locals, they turn everything into a social event. Complete families join force to collect their vegetables, meat, fish, shoes, curtains (you name it!) at the Saturday morning street market on Avenida de Santiago, just around the corner. After this you’re lucky to get a seat at any of the neighbouring bars where they collect for a drink and tapas in the sunshine.

With its palm fringed promenade and safe beaches Los Alzacares is the perfect holiday destination for all ages whether they be walkers, cyclists, enjoy frolicking in the safe waters of the beautiful Mar Menor lagoon or simply lying in the sun watching the world go by.

The apartment has 2 bedrooms, one with a king sized bed and the second, 2 single beds. In addition, the sofa in the living area pulls out providing a further bed for one. The bathroom has a bath with overhead shower. The kitchen is well equipped, having a full sized oven, cooker hood, ceramic hobs, micro wave oven, washing machine, large fridge freezer and a wide range of cooking utensils including a ‘stick blender’ for making soups and sauces – should you feel so inclined! The TV and Smart box are in the living area. On the rear balcony there are 4 beach charis, a sink for rinsing beach towels etc., and for those rare occasions when it rains, a tumble dryer. The air conditioned living room/kitchen has ceiling fans as have the bedrooms and furnished south facing front balcony.

For days at the beach, the choice of bars serving anything from tapas to full meals is endless – all good and some very good. When/if you tire of sunbathing, kite and wind surfing, sailing and canoeing are favourites and classes for these are available for beginners. Another very popular activity is cycling and bicycles and tricycles can be hired. There are plenty of car hire companies around too however the local bus service is excellent and very cheap so unless you’re desperate to drive, a car is not essential. Highly recommended is a visit to The Square where you’ll find hair salons, shops, bars, a night club, the Mercadona super market (their fish counter has to be seen to be believed!) and a very helpful tourist information office. Lidl has also opened a store here and it is open on Sundays; useful as most do not.

Last but not least, the area has 16 golf courses including the renowned La Manga.

All this only 8 minutes drive from San Javier airport!!!

About Ann Fagan

I have lived most of my life in North Wales where I went to school, worked 10 years in the physics department of a well known glass company, got married, had two daughters then ran my own soft furnishing business for some years. In 2010 I moved from North Wales to live on my wide beam canal boat at Bristol Marina. It was a neighbour there who introduced Los Alcazares to me for which I shall be eternally grateful. He now teaches in Prague and I have just moved to Stafford - without the boat! Life moves on.

Great location ,everything you need in a holiday home

House was in a great location,minutes walk from Los Narejos beach.

Owner has everything needed for a great stay eg chairs and trolley for the beach and shopping trolley for carrying the heavy water.

Supermarket on the doorstep,and also bars and restaurants.Few minutes walk to the main 525 square,which has everything you need.

All mod cons inc tv and stereo.Good size,would easily accommodate 4 persons

All in all a really enjoyable stay for the fortnight we were there in September.Would highly recommend.

Absolutely delighted!

Could not be happier about this apartment. It was so well appointed & with everything & more to make it so very comfortable.

Great to be provided with beach towels, sun chairs & a beach trolley and have to say the shopping trolley was such a bonus! Made shopping so much easier & made us feel like a local! Very clean in every respect & everything in the kitchen tip top condition, & plentiful. We also found the large fridge / freezer met our needs very well.

Situation is super for access to beach, shopping, restaurants & bars. It's on a very lively corner & the front balcony perfectly situated to see the world go by!

First time to use Homeaway & from start to finish, communications with the owner were excellent & it was so clear that she wanted us to enjoy our holiday in Los Alcazares in every way & we certainly did!

Extra touches such as a taxi arrangement for the return to the airport made our departure so much easier. Thank you for that!

We also did not have to vacate the apartment early in the day & this was wonderful as our flight was later in the evening. This was yet another specially thoughtful arrangement by Ann and it meant we were able to enjoy even more beach time before heading back to grey skies & rain.....

Excellent customer service!

I would not hesitate to recommend this apartment to others & indeed I'm really looking forward to a return visit.

Nice apartment

The contact with Ann was really friendly, she is solicitous about the stay and try to organize everything for you. The location is near to a supermarket, the beach, restaurants and bars and a club.

You can park the car on the street in front of the house.

The apartment was well-cleaned and all promised equipment was there. You also get your towels for beach and shower there so you don´t have so much luggage to bring.

I would recommend this property to friends.

Thanks Ann for being so solicitous to us. We enjoyed our two weeks really really much.

There are festivals throughout the year but one of my favourites is the August Alcazares Festival of the Sea and Orchards.In October there's a week long celebration with firework displays, processions,The Safari Wind surfing competition ending with The 'Caldero' Festival where the locals go to the beach to hold tug of war contests,light fires for bbqs,dance,sing or sit simply watching the spectacle.
