About this property

Beautiful Coach House idyllic village setting on edge of The Peak District BRIAR

Briar is available to book at The Coach House, set within the beautiful Derbyshire countryside, providing you with a cosy and comfortable country apartment stay. The property is perfect for a family, couple or small friends group get away.

There is a large car park to the front of the property and a large internal courtyard offering space for a BBQ, picnic or a meal or for children to play. Seating is provided.

We are situated on the edge of the Peak District National Park and surrounded by beautiful countryside. Situated away from busy roads, overlooking rolling hills, and backing on to a beautiful forest with small brooks and bridges it doesn't get more picturesque than this. A short drive will take you to bustling market towns, or to the grounds of some of Britain's most famous stately homes, or to the epicenter of the industrial revolution. We are well connected to major transport infrastructure and located centrally making us an ideal and accessible location for reunions from across the country. For those groups seeking out more adventure and exhilaration, there is no shortage of extreme sports and activities near by.

Feel free to contact us if you want to talk through your options.

We did host large groups however due to COVID we are trialing just offering separate suites, starting with Briar. Additional sleeping arrangements may be possible when discussed upon enquiry in-line with current COVID laws and restrictions. The unique layout and style of the property provides flexibility for almost all group types and size.

The Parlour did offer the ideal environment for groups to socialise, eat and relax together, along with an additional toilet and large commercial kitchen. Groups have hired professional chefs to cater for those special occasions too. This may be available by negotiation if we are allowed to let more of the site to larger groups again in the future.

*** Unfortunately we are not accepting large group bookings until we have more certainty on if we will be able to host them. We are trialing changing our offer of one large site for big groups to 3 smaller units, depending on how the law and guidance develops due to Covid this may become permanent. Currently only Briar is available comfortably sleeping 4.

Beautiful and well equipped
The accommodation is perfect, very spacious, bright and clean. The setting is perfect and picturesque. Only issue experience was with the heating which meant the communal area was quite cold however we informed Kate and she quickly rectified the situation.

Lovely large spacious property in beautiful location.
Lovely large property very suitable for our mixed family party. Large practical communial area and well equipped kitchen. Immaculate well equipped apartments upstairs, with lovely modern kitchens and bathrooms, offering privacy if needed. Kate was very helpful both before and on our arrival. The area offered us a variety of activities that weekend and the sunny weather meant we could spend time as well in the large sunny courtyard. A safe place for the children to play along with a grassy area nearby. We even had regular visits from some local hens and the sheep and horses next door were another interest. One suggestion for improvement would be some updating of the communial and kitchen areas. As these obviously are well used and they do show a contrast to the immaculate apartments upstairs. We had a most enjoyable time in this lovely property.

Superb for a family gathering. Wanted for nothing.
What a wonderful property. Plenty of space and every comfort. The large lounge and kitchen was perfect entertaining a big group whilst the individual units were perfect for retreat from the family party. Well appointed, beautifully decorated and the owners close at hand if you had any quieries. The outside courtyard was also good for entertaing if the weather allowed. I cannot recommend more highly.

huge place with great kitchen/entertaining area
We had a large group and stayed for a weekend of walking and relaxing. The coach house is surrounded by beautiful countryside and the kitchen/entertaining area was perfect for a large group with what appears to be a commercial sized kitchen. The pub a few doors down is really nice as well, and Kate the host was polite and responded quickly to any questions we had.

About the host

My husband and I moved into the property in December 2013 with our two small children, it offers a lovely opportunity for me to work from home and a lovely environment for our young family to grow up in. It has been recently sympathetically renovated to include modern comforts and we have loved the challenge, privileged to have found our forever home, and really hope guests enjoy it as much as we do.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with The Coach House instantly, it is full of charm and character, and the renovations which have bought it up to date offering modern comforts have been done sympathetically so you can appreciate the original intension and use of the building. It was the 'Toy Farm' for the John Smedley Estate which was auctioned off in the 1970s, although the factory and outlet is still going at the other end of the village- so if you like fine knit wear its worth a visit.

We particularly love the Courtyard, all of the suites and the Parlour enjoy access off of this area, and it offers a fantastic, private and secure space for groups to enjoy.

The village of Lea is a true credit to the English Countryside, its full of lovely people and properties and offers a lots of lovely walks, with a great local pub to end up in.

What makes this property unique

The Views, the setting within the environment, the community, the courtyard, the character and charm, its unique layout, the quiet quaint village maintaining excellent links to main roads and train stations.
