For more room options please also check our other listing

Nestled in the Normandy countryside, our 250 year old farmhouse offers two spacious artist themed guest rooms, Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh.

Our Vincent van Gogh guest room is light and airy with a modern en-suite shower room, a large comfortable king size bed and a similar double bed, luxurious bedding, big fluffy towels and complimentary toiletries.

Large enough for 4 adults or can be configured with two single beds to accommodate 2 adults and 2 children.

With more than an acre of landscaped gardens, you will find plenty of shady spots where you can sit and relax or if feeling more energetic, play a game of badminton or boules on the lawn or take a leisurely dip in the swimming pool.

We serve continental breakfast in our handsome dining room which includes fresh baked croissants, baguettes, cereals, fruit, a selection of cheeses and Jenny P's delicious homemade jams all topped off with plenty of tea, coffee and juice. A gluten free breakfast option can be pre-ordered.

For those guests with an interest in history and the D-Day landings in Normandy and/or local antiques markets, we offer a variety of half and full day guided tours to the historic D-Day sites and trips to local Brocantes (antiques) and Vide-Greniers (bric-a-brac).

After a full day exploring Normandy, why not let us entertain you over a three course Table d'hôte meal at the farmhouse. Evening meals are available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings.

If you are looking for alternative or additional room options, then please check out our Claude Monet guest room listing.

Why Chris and Jenny Payne chose Litteau

Inspired by its beauty, culture and history (especially the D-Day landings), Chris and I decided to move to Normandy and in 2012 started hunting for a suitable property that would fulfil our dream of running a bed and breakfast in France.

On a cold and snowy January morning, one of several trips we made to Normandy to view houses, we found and fell in love with the house that we now call home in Mis Harand.

Built more than 250 years ago, the house had been home to generations of Normandy farmers, but when discovered, had been empty and unloved for more than 4 years. Undeterred, we moved in and started our renovations.

While I concentrated on the gardens and Chris the building, plumbing, painting, etc, we have transformed the house and gardens into a lovely place to stay which we are sure all will enjoy visiting.

Loved this farmhouse!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed with Chris and Jenny for 3 nights. This was one of my favorite places during our stay in France/Europe. Chris and Jenny are great hosts. Our room was clean, the meals were fantastic and we only regret not taking Chris with us on our Normandy Beach trips. Our boys are 9 & 12 and they had a great time in the pool and playing in the yard. We hope to be back again.

Wonderful Hosts and History Guides

  • 5 of 5

This was a last minute trip to Normandy from Paris and we are so glad we found Chris and Jenny! Our trip was too short considering all that Normandy has to offer. Chris was extremely helpful sorting out an itinerary to the historic D-day sites for our (too) short trip . Jenny's gardens are beautiful. They provide a hearty breakfast and our room was large and well appointed. We look forward to a return visit!

Great Place - Beautiful Farm House In Normandy

  • 5 of 5

We stayed three nights at the farm house. Jenny and Chris were the perfect host and hostess. Our room was perfect for us and very comfortable. We decided to have two dinners with Jenny and Chris while we were there. Jenny made two typical norman french dinners and they were both delicious. We would recommend trying a dinner at the house at least once during your stay. If you are interested in the invasion and WW2 history this is the place to stay. Chris and Jenny are avid WW2 history buffs. Chris has a great collection of books and memorabilia. He is also very knowledgeable on the area and provides guided tours. My wife had a special connection with the area because her father landed on Utah Beach and spent a month in Normandy at several locations with the US Army before the breakout. Chris helped by mapping out the locations noted in her father's diary and we were able to visit almost all of the places. The farm house is centrally located to all the WW2 historic places and museums. For us, it was a very special trip. We also enjoyed spending time with Jenny and Chris. They are great people and we had a lot in common. It felt more like spending time with family. The breakfasts Jenny prepared with home made jams were a great way to start your day. We will definitely return again.

Wonderful

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful B&B with 2 excellent hosts. Would definitely return and certainly hope to do so! Everything you could possibly need (and more) was available to us and Jenny and Chris are fantastic hosts. The breakfast and attention to detail just added to the overall ambience of Normandy Getaways- would recommend over and over again.

Mis Herand - highly recommended

  • 5 of 5

We have enjoyed two wonderful stays at Mis Herand and look forward to returning again very soon.

The property sits in beautiful countryside where we enjoyed the peace and quiet - just the place for a relaxing break but within comfortable travelling distance of many historical sites including the D-Day beaches and museums, the Bayeaux tapestry, Mont St Michel. Truly something for everyone.

The accommodation has been refurbished to a very high standard and was very clean and comfortable. Jenny and Chris were wonderful hosts and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed for our break.

The property is complemented by a beautifully maintained garden where you can enjoy the sun, have a picnic or take a dip in the pool.

It is just the spot if you're into 'star-gazing' too.

We would definitely recommend a stay at Mis Herand.
