Completely Private 4 Bedroom Rural Property With Pool and Equipped Games Field

Mas du Pla de Railla is an old Catalan farmhouse that has been renovated to a high standard. It is located in the heart of the countryside, nestled among peach orchards, cherry and olive groves.

The house set in over 2 acres is completely detached and offers total privacy and tranquillity, yet is only a few minutes drive from the “chic” historic market town of Thuir. The sun kissed Mediterranean beaches, cosmopolitan Perpignan, Spain and the Pyrenees Mountains are all within 30 minutes drive.

You arrive at the property via a long private drive bordered on the one side by an impressive 2 mtr wall of oleander bushes with the most beautiful pink and white blossom and on the other by a peach orchard.

There is a gated entrance into the property where there is secure parking for up to 5 cars.

The land is divided into several parts.

There is the garden that surrounds the immediate farmhouse and contains a large floodlit patio area which houses a BBQ and large table and chairs and operatres as an outside kitchen.

There are a couple of Mulberry trees here that offer the very necessary shade.

This area also contains a bed of roses that offer a beautiful scent that surrounds the property. There are also several fruit and nut trees namely peach, cherry, pear, almond, hazelnut, walnut and olive. You are welcome to pick your own, season permitting.

There are 2 other floodlit terrace areas so lots of space for large groups.

This area also contains the swimming pool that is fully maintained and provided for your exclusive use. Not overlooked and completely fenced with a lockable gate making it safe for families with young children. Sun beds are provided and there is ample room for sunbathing.

Behind the pool is a playing field which is fully equipped for football, volleyball, badminton, table tennis and bowls something for everyone.

There are spectacular views of Mount Canigou, which is normally snow capped from November to June and dominates the skyline of this beautiful region.

You enter the house via a large combined lounge kitchen diner.

In the recently installed farmhouse kitchen there is a 4 ring gas hob with extractor fan,an electric oven a microwave dishwasher and fridge-freezer.

It is well equipped with every appliance needed to self cater. A door off the kitchen exits to the large patio terrace that operates as the summer dining area.

Sliding patio doors exit from the lounge diner onto another of the outside terraces.

The lounge diner is large and bright and houses a dinning table and chairs, a flat screen TV with a selection of channels from Sky (Sports is available) a DVD player is also available with several recent DVD releases. There is a log burning fire and there is also a 6 seater leather sofa and wi-fi broad band.

There is a hallway from the lounge and from this you can access the rest of the farmhouse.

There is a seperate shower room with washbasin and toilet.

There is also a utility room should you want to do some essential washing.

Three large double bedrooms all on the ground floor are also accessed from the hallway all of which have patio doors leading out onto the terraces.

All have double beds and are fully furnished.

The master double bedroom Parisian in its style, has a double bed, bedsides tables with reading lights, a very large en-suite walk in shower room with washbasin. There is also a dressing room off this bedroom.

The family bathroom is also off the hallway and contains a bath, shower and double washbasin. There is also a second toilet off this hallway.

There is a staircase from the hall that takes you up to the fourth double bedroom, which also has a separate dressing room. In this room there are two single beds, a chest and bedside tables with reading lights.

This is a large property set in a very peaceful location and is great for large groups to enjoy a relaxing holiday.

Most of the living accomodation is on the ground floor which helps if there are elderly family members.

The private pool not overlooked is completely enclosed with a lockable gate so safe for families with young children.

The equipped playing field is great as it keeps the children amused for hours in fact not just the children.

Being so peacefully located in the countryside but only a 5 minute drive from the market town of Thuir.

Beautiful quite retreat

Tucked away behind oleander hedges this villa is perfect for people who enjoy peace and quite. The villa itself is spacious, beautifully kept and has every amenity. After a .day out it is ideal to come home to a refreshing dip in the pool.Its location allows easy access to both sea and mountains. Argeles and Collioure are 30 minutes away, both delightful resorts. The outstanding mountain village of Castelnou is 15 minutes away. Villefranche is 30 minutes and is another of the Beau villages de France with the added attraction of the Yellow Train for a ride into the Pyrennes.Thuir itself is a lovely town with a vibrant Saturday market.The Gecko restaurant is 5 minute down the road and thoroughly recommended.

In short loved the villa, loved the area and the owner could not have more more helpful and friendly.

A fabulous holiday!

We have travelled to France for many years and love finding places that provide peace and tranquillity. This villa which is based in the countryside five minutes by car from Thuir and thirty minutes from the Spanish border met our requirements. The owners were extremely helpful and informative and the villa was spacious, well maintained and clean - ideal for a small family. One large and two smaller bedrooms. Given the amount of sun the area has, we lived outdoors for most of the days - the good sized pool providing a regular 'cooling off' facility and barbecues on may occasions - however the kitchen is also large and well stocked. The owners instructions on how to find the cottage were accurate and the information pack on places to visit was very useful. Lots of good restaurants nearby - the 'Gheko' a real find. And the surrounding areas have a lot to discover whether you want a good sandy beach (thirty minutes away); some art (Ceret/Cadeques in Spain) or ancient buildings (Perpignan) - it has the lot! We travelled by Eurostar to Avignon and rented a car. Next time (we will return) we will fly to Perpignan and hire a car there. It is then only twenty minutes to the house. One of the best and relaxing holidays we have had - and the house and its location were a key element.

Home from home

This villa was fabulous, modern and clean. Our teenagers even loved it! The pool area and outdoor facilities are excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. You do need a car as the shops are a 5 minute drive. This region has a fantastic choice of restaurants and it is well worth a visit to Castelnou. The owner, Bob, is delightful and nothing is a problem. I would say this property is one of the best we have ever stayed in. We would certainly stay again. Thanks Bob.

Comfortable property close to mountains and sea

The property is situated in the midst of many peach and nectarine farms, but close to small towns for both supermarkets and boulangeries.

Relatively easy to find, we were made very welcome by the owners and the property was clearly fastidiously maintained and cared for by the owners, feeling just like a home.

It is well situated, being half an hour or so from the sea, Perpignan, and the foothills of the Pyrenees. There is fine walking in the mountains but a bit hot this time of year!

We had a thoroughly relaxing holiday, barbecues being easy, and the dining area was great for long evenings.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this villa, it is ideal for a family holiday.

Fantastic property for a relaxing holiday

We have just returned to Scotland after 2 weeks here. It was a fantastic holiday and the house was perfect for us - a family of 6 with four boys 12, 9, 8 & 7. We thoroughly enjoyed having so much out door space which was extremely private. Virtually all our meals were eaten out doors, with morning coffee under the tree outside the kitchen window, lunch in the outdoor dining area and even the odd cigar and Calvados on the decked area, under the stars, late in the evening. The outdoor cooking area was like having a second kitchen and made it easy and simple to use the BBQ.

The pool was great and the kids loved it and it was an added bonus being able to see it from the house so we could keep an eye on the boys. It was a great size and just right for us. The aspect of the garden area ensures sunshine all day long and there are enough shaded areas for anyone who doesn't like too much sun.

The kids loved the outdoor space, and spent a great deal of time playing football and table tennis in the field at the back of the house.

Out two weeks passed all to quickly and we were sorry to have left, in what seemed a very short time.

The owners were delightful and went out of their way to welcome us to their house and ensure we had everything we needed on arrival.

We would not hesitate to return or recommend this house to others. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did. Its fantastic.

The medeival village of Castelnou which has the creditation of being one of the most beautiful villages in the whole of France is just a 5 minute drive away.

Le Cave Byrrh located in Thuir houses the largest oak vat in the world.

The Mediteranean beaches are only a 30 minute drive away as well as the famous fishing port of Collioure.

The Modern Art Museum in Ceret is very worth a visit and there is a typical Catalan market in Ceret on Saturday mornings.

There are an abandence of quality restaurants in Thuir at the coast and also in Perpignan so you really will be spoilt for choice.

There are also a great number of caves to explore as the wine in this region is becoming much sort after.

All bookings are levied with a 50 euro final house cleaning charge.
This is payable on arrival and is to cover the full cleaning of the property (includding all bathrooms and toilets) on departure so that the property is prepared for the incoming guests.

Bed linen is available at £6 per person and includes all bed linen as well as a bath and hand towel.
It does not include beach or pool towels.

There is an immediate 25% booking deposit to be paid that reserves the holiday.
Then the final balance is due 8 weeks prior to the holiday.
There is a £150 per week security deposit also payable along with the final deposit.
This is returned in full on a satisfactory checkout

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 7 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 14 days before check-in date.
