Beautiful cottage...shame about the noise

  • 3 of 5
Verified Stay

We stayed at Bumble Bee cottage whilst on our honeymoon. After the madness of the wedding, we were looking forward to somewhere to escape to and relax and catch up on our sleep.

Sadly this didn't turn out to be the case. In our 4 night stay, every morning we were adruptly woken up at 7.30am or earlier by delivery trucks parking up and unloading to either the hotel or the pub. This went on for over 30 minutes each day. The bedroom is directly outside the side road where deliveries are made so there was no other way to avoid it.

Whilst we appreciate deliveries need to be made, perhaps the owners can speak to the local businesses concerned to see if they could arrange for deliveries to made after 9 or 10am?

Otherwise the house is beautiful with a lovely garden, plush decor and all mod cons. You can tell that a lot of care and attention had been put into the place.

Unfortunately we won't be staying there again as the noise really did spoil our break.

Wonderful cottage in a beautiful village

Partner and I had a a great stay with the dog in this wonderful little cottage.

Welcome hamper, including some treats for the dog, was a very thoughtful touch, the cottage is lovely and clean and decorated to a high standard. Kitchen has all that's required for your stay and there are good local amenities in the village.

Would definitely visit again.

a lovely cottage in a superb location

We cannot praise Bumble Bee Cottage highly enough. It has been finished to the highest specification and contained everything that we needed for an enjoyable 4 night break. The location is ideal being in the heart of Broadway but on quieter Church Street with all the shops and restaurants near by. Being able to park outside the front door is a great bonus and the garden at the back is a peaceful place to sit with a drink or a book. The cottage is serviced by the team at the Broadway Hotel and you can charge meals etc to your account in the same way as hotel guests which is a nice feature.

We are not dog lovers and were concerned that the cottage was listed as "dog friendly" as we have stayed in places where evidence of a dog's presence has been all too obvious! However, everything in Bumble Bee Cottage inside and out was spotlessly clean and fresh - a good performance from the housekeeping team!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will not hesitate to recommend it to our friends!

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to leave us such a lovely review. Bumble Bee Cottage is still a relatively new venture for us, which makes your feedback all the more important, so we’re delighted to hear how much you enjoyed your stay. We have to agree with you that the location is superb, and it’s great to hear that you enjoyed both getting out and about in Broadway village as well as enjoying Bumble Bee’s very own private garden. With regard to your comments about dog-friendliness, as you can appreciate, Broadway (and in fact all of The Cotswolds) is a very popular destination with dog-walkers, so we do allow a maximum of two dogs in the Cottage. We ask all guests bringing their four-legged friends to keep their dogs downstairs and off all furniture so as to maintain the quality of the property for others, but we also do have a fabulous housekeeping team who work really hard to keep Bumble Bee spick and span! Thank you for your comments on this – we will be sure to pass them on to the team. We will look forward to welcoming you again sometime, hopefully in the not-too-distant future.

A beautiful cottage and all seemed new! Very comfortable. Only problem was Internet was spotty. Clean, excellent customer service and handy to everything in Broadway. We shopped and cooked at home- glad to not eat in restaurants after a couple of weeks doing so.

The Cotswolds are well-known for gentle hillsides (or ‘wolds’), sleepy villages and for being typically English. As such, they are a popular destination for tourism, with many activities and sights to enjoy for anyone enjoying a Cotswold break.

Geologically, the Cotswolds is a limestone mass stretching 100 miles from the south-west to the north east, with Bath to the south and Chipping Campden to the north, mainly within Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire.

BumbleBee Cottage encapsulates everything that is so loved about the Cotswolds; stunning old-English villages, beautifully architected Cotswold stone buildings and beautifulcountryside – all underpinned by a rich tapestry of history.

The beautiful and historic Cotswold village of Broadway is a memorable place to stay and a perfect base from which to tour the local area and enjoy the stunning walks. The pretty High Street is lined with horse chestnut trees and includes a mixture of period houses and picturesque honey coloured Cotswold stone cottages which have lured visitors for centuries.

Broadway village has an excellent selection of amenities from a supermarket and a pharmacy to a good selection of bars, restaurants and shops to browse.
