About this property

Newly Refurbished, Stunning Waterfront Property with Running Mooring, Fowey.

2 Albert Place is a beautiful property situated in the heart of the pretty, traditional Cornish town of Fowey on the mouth of the River Fowey. In an enviable position right on the water’s edge, in the centre of Fowey yet in a very quiet position.
The house has stunning views across the estuary, to the countryside beyond and also to the pretty village of Polruan which is on the opposite side of the estuary and accessed via a sweet passenger ferry.
At low tide you can access the foreshore by the steps from the terrace. At high tide you can access the property via the same steps, from your own (or a hired) boat.
There is a frape at the property (a running mooring) so whether you bring your own boat or hire one during your stay, exploring the harbour and the River Fowey couldn't be easier. We can help you to arrange boat hire (up to 7 people) during your stay, if you wish. Note the running mooring dries at low tide, please check that your own boat is suitable, if you are not using the local hire boat we recommend.
The house, which has recently been tastefully refurbished to a contemporary standard is open plan to the ground floor, with huge bi-folding doors on to a small terrace at the water’s edge. With underfloor heating, wide screen 4K TV, Quooker boiling water tap, Sonos, Nespresso machine and free high speed WiFi (70Mbps), it is equipped to a high standard.
On the first floor, there are 3 bedrooms: a double with fine river/estuary views and en-suite shower room; a twin bedroom, also with fabulous views over the river and out to the estuary, a family bathroom and a third double bedroom with river views from its own small balcony. The bathrooms are newly fitted and tastefully decorated with excellent water pressure to the showers.
A natural deep harbour, Fowey is a haven for yachtsmen and whether you sail yourself or just want to enjoy watching others the house is in a perfect position. There are two sailing clubs in the town who welcome visitors. The Royal Regatta in August, featuring a dramatic display across the estuary by the Red Arrows, is one of Britain’s premier sailing events, it is also a fun-filled week for all the family, sailors and landlubbers alike.
Kayaks can be hired within 50m of the house and there are many boat and fishing trips available from the town quay, a very short stroll away.
Designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Fowey retains a unique, unspoilt charm, with its narrow winding streets, old fashioned pubs and a variety of shopping.
Across the River, the quaint village of Polruan with its regular passenger ferry running back and forth allows you to enjoy even more coastal paths along the stunning Cornish Coastline.
Readymoney Cove, situated by the mouth of the River Fowey is accessible by foot and ideal for families. At high season the beach has a swimming platform, and is also good for rock pooling at low tide.
There are miles of beautiful walks accessible right from the doorstep along with landmarks such as St Catherine’s castle and the Gribbin.

If you do wish to venture out of the town, we are close to some of Cornwall's most stunning gardens including The Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan.

Llanhydrock House, a National Trust property, is close by and has fun bike trails with mountain bikes for hire.
Fowey is also the inspiration to much of Daphne Du Maurier's writing and is home to the annual Du Maurier literary festival (8th – 16th May, 2020).

Amazing location for your perfect stay
We stayed at Albert Group as 3 couples and it was amazing, Kim was very helpful and sent over all the information needed. There is a small sort stay car park just a few yard from the property which is free parking between 6pm and 9 am so we managed to offload on arrival and left our car overnight. The main long stay car park is just a 5 minute walk away and we paid via phone app for the week which was roughly about £42. The accommodation is in a stunning location and has everything you could need, We hired a boat for the day using someone Kim recommended and the boat was dropped off right outside Albert place and we had a lovely day sailing up the estuary and back, we also went on a walk suggested in the guide which involves getting the ferry over to Polruen and walking round the estruary, the views are fantastic and was a great way to spend the day, Fowey itself is lovely and quaint, lots of local shops including an amazing bakery just opposite and would recommend the fish and chips shop and Haveners to eat out, we also visited the Lost Gardens of Heligan which is another great day out, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definately be returning.

Fantastic location
Five of us spent a lovely week in Fowey over New Year. The house is amazing. So clean, comfy and with everything you need. The location couldn't be better, opposite the brilliant Quay bakery and right on the river. We would definitely book again.

Fantastic property, fantastic location
This is a wonderful place to stay ! The house is spotless and so well equipped. It was so comfortable and in such an amazing spot with everything literally on your doorstep. Plenty of shops and places to eat. The owner was very helpful . Parking wasn't an issue. There is a car park just a few meters from the house where we parked and emptied the car then there are other places where the car can be left for the duration of the stay. There are amazing views from the kitchen and the bedrooms. Would highly recommend and would happily return.

My husband and I have been visiting and enjoying Fowey for over 20 years, for the last 15 with our two children.
We have spent the past 2 years refurbishing the house and hope that you will enjoy it as much as we do.

Why they chose this property

For its magical setting on the water's edge with stunning views, quiet yet central location, comfortable and newly refurbished accommodation with so much to do just moments away.

What makes this property unique

2 Albert Place is a special place, situated in the heart of the hustle and bustle of this traditional Cornish town with its unique selection of shops and galleries, cafes, pubs and restaurants all just yards away.

Yet, despite its central location, the property is an oasis of calm on the waters edge and even after many visits, when entering the property for the fist time, the stunning view, whatever the weather, never fails to take our breath away.

Watching our boys sailing with the local club whilst reading the papers on the patio is, for us, a perfect way to relax.

What is wonderful about Fowey is that you can do so much on foot; experience fishing trips; browse in the lovely shops; enjoy the many fabulous walks (coastal and woodland); mess about on the river, be it in a dingy, yacht, kayak or a motor boat, it is quite simply the best way to idle away an afternoon.
