About this property

La Soleillade poolside flat with summer kitchen between Avignon & Uzes

Wake up in our peaceful green corner of Provence, breakfast beside your own private swimming pool and step back in time and enjoy the slow pace of life in our sleepy southern French village situated within the Golden Triangle of Provence.

The large graduated pool is bordered by conifers for privacy and equipped with a security cover and family sized solar shower. It is open from beginning Aprll to the end of October making La Soleillade an ideal location for your Spring or Autumn break.

Your independent ground floor apartment sleeps up to four plus baby, the garden is completely enclosed to allow your pet to roam free and your accommodation comprises a large living area with doors to the south facing patio. There's a SmartTV with connection to British and French broadcasts, a DVD player with a selection of movies and a dining area for cooler evenings. You have one double bedroom and one twin bedroom plus one of the sofas also converts to a double sofabed. There is also a boxroom with a travel cot for baby up to two years. You have a fully equipped kitchen decorated in the Provençal style with local colourful pottery and a bathroom with a large walk in Italian shower, toilet, Mexican porcelain hand basin and a selection of local olive based soaps.

There's a Summer Kitchen equipped with facilities for making your own paella, a plancha grill, a fridge freezer for cool poolside drinks and an inbuilt charcoal barbecue. Meals can be enjoyed on the patio and the pool is surrounded by loungers for sun worshippers or, if you prefer, you can just float up and down the pool in the large inflatable armchair.

Your apartment benefits from a southerly aspect so you have the sun all day long. It's within walking distance of shops, bars and restaurants and has an hourly direct bus service to Avignon.

Nestling amongst the vineyards of the southern Cotes du Rhone La Soleillade is particularly suitable for wine buffs as you are surrounded by the major wineries of Laudun, Lirac, Tavel and Chateauneuf du Pape.

If you have limited mobility, the apartment has easy access and a large spacious walk in shower.

Avignon is 20 mins away with its arts festival in July. You have three of the most beautiful villages in France within a 20 km radius and you can discover the World Heritage Sites of Orange and the Pont du Gard or visit Arles and follow in the footsteps of Van Gogh or just wander the cobbled streets and enjoy the weekly Provençal market in the Duchy of Uzes.

"But of course the heart of it all is Avignon with its honey-coloured, rose-faded walls and machicolated towers rising steeply from a country dusted silver with olives, and—more likely than not—swept by the roaring mistral."
— Lawrence Durrell Avignon

Lovely Provencal stay
We had a fantastic time staying at Linda’s apartment - great spot for relaxing but also a prime spot to be in if you want to tour around and see some of Provence’s loveliest sites. Linda’s local knowledge is invaluable and makes those visits so much easier when negotiating a hire car. Could not recommend this place highly enough.

An excellent home away from home
We loved our stay at Linda & John's apartment. From the moment we arrived, Linda made us feel at home with a very warm welcome. We expected the property to be good from the photographs and description, but our expectations were exceeded. The apartment is very well equipped - we had all the utensils we could need for cooking indoors & outdoors. The outdoor kitchen is a fab addition - we grilled our dinner every night. It's great being able to live outdoors in the sunshine, or cosy up inside on the days when the wind blows. The private pool is a great asset and really well looked after. We enjoyed floating around in that each day. The apartment is well located for day trips to the Provencal markets and beautiful little towns. We really couldn't fault our stay and only wished we'd stayed longer. We are already wondering when we might get back there again next year. Thanks for having us, Linda!

Hope to be back!
Beautiful villa which was perfectly set up for a family with young children like us. The children loved the spotless pool, whilst the outside kitchen area was a fantastic feature. The town centre is in easy walking distance with the sunday market being a must to visit. Going on holiday with a 1, 3 and 6 year old can be stressful but as soon as we reached the villa we felt totally relaxed which was helped by the lovely bottle of Rose Linda had left for us! Linda herself is very accomodating and a great help when it came to recommending places to visit etc. We loved our stay and just hope there is availability to book again next year!

Paradise in Provence
Fabulous stay at this beautiful peaceful house in Provence. Nothing was too much trouble for our kind host Linda who's love for the property and region shines through in attentive touches. From the generously stocked fridge and pantry , superbly eqipped kitchen complete with beautiful Provencal crockery; to the simply stunning pool and outdoor vine covered patio and the outdoor kitchen. This really was a little piece of heaven where I enjoyed preparing salads, whilst keeping an eye on the bbq gin and tonic in hand, and then serving crepes for desert on the outdoor stove! The house is situated perfectly for exploring the region, if you can tear yourselves away from the pool. We cycled to town to explore and stock upon a few essentials., and enjoyed the bustling market day in stunning Uzes and took in the impressive Roman Aqueduct at Pont Du Gard. But if you have more time than us then Avignon and St Remy de Provence are all within easy driving distance. The teenagers were delighted to find UK TV and WIFI , and the house comfortably accommodated 5 of us , with the most generous shower I've ever enjoyed ! A truly wonderful stay and a holiday we will.never forget.

Rollers and hot!
This was a very relaxing apartment in a beautiful part if France. Linda was a wonderful host and looked after us really well...nothing too much trouble! A short stroll through the vineyards to the river Tave provided us with spectacular views of a pair of rollers. Our second week coincided with record breaking temperatures...too hot to do anything but take dips in the pool! A lovely memory and we look forward to returning.

About the host

I'm Scottish by birth and now French by nationality. I have spent many years visiting and living in France and decided on retirement to move to 'the Sud' for a more leisurely style of life. I live on the first floor and have my own entrance. I am on hand, if required, otherwise you will not be disturbed. I love meeting people, introducing them to this historic region and sharing all my tips to make their holiday truly memorable.

Why they chose this property

I bought La Soleillade because of its quiet location, southerly aspect and the warm welcome of my French neighbours who have become life long friends. I have stayed in all the departments of the Languedoc but chose the department of Gard because its the greenest and the most easterly with direct connections to north south autoroutes. La Soleillade is situated in the most southerly corner of the region known as the Gard Provencal.

What makes this property unique

The property is well situated for transport connections and you can visit all the important towns of the region very easily and have a beautiful peaceful base to return to after a days sightseeing. I love to take the train to Aix en Provence or Marseille for a days shopping and Avignon is only a 20 mins drive or you can take the local bus and spend an hour touring all the surrounding beautiful villages en route. By staying here you can experience life in a small undiscovered southern French town, its a bit like stepping back to life in the 1950s with real church bells chiming the hour and peaceful Sundays when you can wander into the village for fresh baguettes and visit the local morning market.
