About the property

Cholwell Barn Apartment is a contemporary, spacious, warm apartment set above our little used garages in our woodland garden. Large living area with well fitted kitchen, comfortable leather sofas, flame effect electric fire and smart TV. Lovely views over the orchard, woods and surrounding countryside. On this floor there is a large en-suite double bedroom. Downstairs to the twin bedroom with separate shower room (suite). Ample off road parking for 2 cars.

The Apartment is available for weekly lettings only with Friday changeover days.

We are situated in the old part of Mary Tavy in a quiet location within Dartmoor National Park. There is easy access to many attractions and activities in Devon and Cornwall. Attractive local walks from the door, cycle routes including National Route 27 at the top of the drive. Several National Trust properties within 30mins drive.

Several excellent local pubs within walking distance or a short drive. The attractive Market Town of Tavistock is 4 miles away with supermarkets and a good array of local shops. Within the village there is a Post Office/stores.

The ideal location to enjoy Devon and Cornwall at their best!

About Doreen Rogers

Keith and I retired to Cholwell Barn in 2005 after moving from Oxfordshire. We renovated the original farmhouse, then converted the derelict barn in which we now live. The apartment was built above and behind our triple garage as a new build.

The property is set in our 3 acre gardens and woods. It offers peace and quiet and privacy without being far from the main road and other properties. Rabbits and deer are often seen and a huge variety of birds. We fell in love with all this and the proximity to excellent walking along with the challenge of a huge renovation project!

Would recommend.

A friendly greeting from Doreen and a clean, tidy and well equipped apartment. There was no

radio or CD player but who would want to drown out the song of the blackbird who serenaded

us every morning and evening from the tree by the balcony. Lots of places to visit within half to three quarters of an hours drive. Also the coast North and South if you don't mind driving a little further. Great cycling and walking country.

Owner's Response: Thank you for all your positive comments, it was a pleasure to have you all as guests. Radio channels are available on the Smart TV and CDs can be played on the DVD Player. Our instructions may not have been clear on this but we are normally available to deal with problems. As you say it was probably better to be serenaded by the blackbird! Doreen

Idyllic stay in ideally located property

We had a wonderful time In Cholwell Barn Appartment. We met some friends in the barn for a week´s holiday and we enjoyed the stay, the location and the amazing walks around Dartmoor. The accommodation is ideally located to plan full day or half day trips on the moors as well as to go out in the evenings to the local pubs within a 15 to 30 minutes walk from the property. The living area of the property is airy, light and spacious enough as not to feel too crowded when staying with another couple or even other members of your own family. Doreen's welcome was warm and welcoming with freshly cut flowers from her garden. The barn was spotlessly clean on arrival and she made sure we had some milk on arrival as well as some biscuits and some wine for our first evening…. Everything we needed was fully provided including games and books for the rainy bits we had during our stay. The whole property is in the middle of an orchard/wood where silence and nature prevail. A holiday away from everything and with everything you need at hand!!! A memorable experience and one we would love to repeat being all keen walkers and great enthusiasts of the Dartmoor range of walks.
