3 Bed Cottage in Quiet Village Location with Easy Access to Popular Activities

Quiet rural location a half mile walk to the village convenience store, pub, cafe and butchers of friendly St.Teath. The White Hart serves great food, and is child and pet friendly.

The cottage is a delightfully converted stone and slate barn, all on one level, with some original features, exposed beams and stone work inside. Fully refurbished by the new owners in 2015 to a high standard.

- Lovely refitted kitchen with full set of appliances, and large kitchen table seats 8,

- family bathroom, with bath and shower over,

- large sitting / dining room with exposed stone walls and patio doors. TV, freeview, wifi, DVD player, chromecast and games cupboard. 2 sofas and circular swivel love seat. Dining table and 6 chairs.

- spacious enclosed garden with traditional dry stone walls sheltering a terrace part way up the grassy slope, with steps to a flatter grassy area at the top with plenty of room to play and elevated countryside views. Large rattan table and 6 chairs, bbq, sun loungers and covered arbour seating. Buckets, spades and fishing nets provided for the beach.

The property is less than 2 miles to the sea. This North Cornwall section of the South West Coast Path makes for spectacular walking past wonderful beaches, villages, Atlantic breakers and rugged scenery. This is the heart of Poldark Country! Also on the doorstep of rugged Bodmin Moor, for walking and pony rides.

The historic fishing village of Port Isaac, where Doc Marten is filmed, is about a 12 minute drive. Michelin Star chef Nathan Outlaw has two restaurants there. Port Gaverne is next to it, with it's safe beach and the award winning Port Gaverne Hotel.

We are also close to Port Quinn for kayaking and coast-steering, and Lundy Bay for rock pooling and checking out the caves. The Eden Project is about a 40 minute drive towards the South Coast. King Arthur's castle at Tintagel is not far, and St.Necktans Glen with it's woodland walk through to a spectacular Waterfall is worth a visit.

A number of beaches are within easy reach, including body boarding, rock pooling and surfing at beaches like Trebarwith Strand and Polzeath, and flat expanses of family and dog friendly sand and dunes at Rock and Daymer Bay. Apart from the beach, Rock is famous for it's watersports, yacht club and many fantastic dining options.

Cornwall Crealy adventure park is close, for an action packed day with the kids.

Padstow, the popular harbour town, made especially famous by Rick Stein, is close and can be reached from Rock via the much loved short ferry ride over the Camel Estuary, or by the easy cycle along the Camel Trail from Wadebridge.

Close by is the famous St.Enodoc links course with undulating fairways, firm greens, some blind shots and spectacular sea and estuary views. Many additional courses like Bowood surround.

Wadebridge is a nearby small town with a traditional cinema, and variety of shops. Wine lovers should visit the Camel Valley Vineyard to try their award wining wines and see how they're made.

Also don't miss the fudge, pasties, ice cream and fish & chips when in the area!

It is a 10 minute walk into the St.Teath village centre, where you will find the butchers, pub the White Hart, convenience store, cafe and church, with a children's playground on the way. The pub is dog and child friendly.

It is a forty minute walk to the coast, through fields. Directions at the property.

We love hiring bikes at Wadebridge to cycle the 5 mile camel trail to Padstow, stopping for fish and chips / ice cream / fudge / gifts, then cycling back. It is an easy traffic free smooth and level ride.

Also great to drive to Rock and take the short ferry ride across the estuary to Padstow, and back. Padstow is famous for it's gift shops and restaurants. The Christmas market is great.

A beautifully presented property

We had a lovely stay at this beautiful property in a great location to explore the coastline and local area. The property was incredibly welcoming on arrival, it was clear that significant time had been taken to ensure that everywhere was clean, warm and beautifully presented.

The fantastic kitchen was well-equipped with everything you could need in terms of appliances, crockery etc and the cosy living area had a great selection of board games and books, as well as plenty of television options, with lovely comfy sofas. The bathrooms were all very well cleaned and presentable, with plenty of Hot Water. Finally, the garden is beautiful - although we didn't spend much time out there in November.

There is plenty to do in the local area and we enjoyed exploring the coastal path, (which we walked to from the house a couple of times), local villages such as Port Isaac and Padstow and also went to the Eden project.

All in all it is a wonderful property, incredibly well presented and clean, in a great location, in a wonderful part of England. We would certainly visit again.

Ok but not great

We enjoyed our stay at The Shippen, it is ideally located to enjoy Cornwalls fantastic coastline. The house itself left us a little disappointed mainly because of its lack of cleanliness - there was pet hair everywhere (which aggravated a family members allergy), dusty corners, the Henry Hoover smelled of 'wet dog' when we used it and wasn't effective, the tumble dryer didn't work (we fixed it by emptying the full water tank), there were floor sweepings to the side of the dresser, sofa smelled of dogs and had pet hair all over it, mosquitos a-plenty in all the bedrooms and bathrooms. The towel rail and radiator in the master bedroom and en suite were not working when we arrived...it was a cold night! I contacted the owner who responded quickly and sent a caretaker to fix and offered to send a plumber. The problem was somewhat resolved by the caretaker but we declined to pursue it further because we didn't want our holiday interrupted any more. Not helpful when the caretaker accidentally took our set of keys leaving us scratching our heads until we worked out where they could be! Also would be nice to warn guests that you only provide 1 dishwasher tablet and an inch of washing up liquid so we could bring our own! Cottage is part of a little complex of cottages on a small site, substantial building work being undertaken on neighbouring cottage causing noise.

There were lots of good points though! The beds were clean and comfortable. Good selection of board games enjoyed by all. Well equipped kitchen. Fab shower in en suite. Plenty of hot water. Location excellent. Helpful owner. Lovely outdoor space.

Just feel the cottage needs a little TLC and maintenance to justify the rental fee and ensure guests are comfortable and have a trouble free stay.

Lovely holiday cottage in great location.

Well designed and equipped cottage in great location for exploring the North Cornwall coast.

Very comfortable. Recommendations and advice left by the owner were really useful.

Great places to eat in the area, good butcher in the village, fantastic beaches and walks and lots of activities available.

The Eden Project was also easily reachable.

We would love to return!

Perfect cottage getaway in Cornwall

Just home after a fantastic summer holiday week at The Shippen.

After a very long tiring journey down the M5 "car park" in horrendous weather it was a very pleasant surprise arriving at the cottage to find it so well finished, equipped and laid out. The kitchen is beautiful and stocked with more than enough crockery, cutlery and any other kitchen utensil you can think of. (The welcome gift of a bottle of wine and fresh local scones was a nice touch)

Lots of board games and books for the children for any rainy day, and also enough maps and information books and leaflets to stock any Tourist information center.

3 good size comfortable bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. My wife, daughter and our Springer spaniel and more than ample space and any larger family or group staying here still wouldn't feel cramped.

Then there is the garden which is landscaped beautifully and as we were very lucky with the weather so managed to spend a lot of time out there. It is well equipped with lovely garden furniture and games which made summer evening BBQ's and toasting marshmallows easy and fun which my daughter loved.

The cottage in St Teath is well located so most places took around half an hour to drive to, Padstow, Bude, Port Isaac, Bodmin and not forgetting the underrated Bodmin moor where my daughter enjoyed pony hacking.

The local pub (The White Hart) is a great spot and a personal highlight for me, Barry the landlord a great host and dog lover welcoming our Springer spaniel with a treat on any evening we called in. The food there is superb for a pub, reasonably priced and the girls waiting in the restaurant area couldn't do enough for us.

Communication with Liz the owner was very good, she kept us updated and responded to my texts and emails very quickly.

I'd definitely recommend a stay at The Shippen and we will definitely be returning when we can.

Fantastic. Wonderful cottage, in a superb location, in a beautiful area.

This is a well equipped cottage, extremely comfortable and surprisingly spacious even for a family of five and a dog. The garden has been terraced to enjoy the best of the Cornish sun.

The cottage is well located to access the north Cornwall coast and a stay here will not dissapoint.
