Overview

About the property

Great for family summer holidays

The 3 minute walk to Gyllyngvase beach from this lovely house takes you out of the back garden gate, across a quiet road and through beautiful Queen Mary Gardens. If you've forgotten your spade it's no problem to nip home to collect it. No struggling to find a place to park. Apart from the usual sea, sand and rock pools, the beach offers the famous Gylly Beach Cafe and WeSUP - paddleboard and kayak hire.

The house itself is comfortable and well cared for with 4 double bedrooms (2 en-suite). There is a huge decking area for eating outside and enjoying views of the sea. Have your breakfast on your own bedroom balcony!

Table tennis, croquet and a grand piano are all available in the house.

Tennis courts and hotel spas with swimming pools, are easily accessible within 300 metres.

There are many beautiful walks nearby. The South West Coast Path is just a couple of minutes away and you can easily stroll up to Henry VIII's Pendennis Castle or walk to restaurants and cafes at Swanpool and Maenporth.

Falmouth is Cornwall's best town (ok, we are a bit biassed) It has many quirky little shops, including fantastic Stones Bakery as well as high street standards like Marks and Spencer. There are plenty of more good restaurants than anyone could get through in a fortnight. We love Olivers, The Star and Garter, Hunkydory, Espressini and The Greenbank Hotel. The Cove, Maenpoth Beach. There are at least 10 pasty shops and friendly pubs and cream tea establishments. The National Maritime Museum and Falmouth Art Gallery are well worth visiting too.

Falmouth is a great base for exploring West Cornwall. St Ives, Truro, Penzance, Newquay, Padstow and Fowey are all easily accessible. For a different beach experience the north coast has more consistent surf and stunning coastal scenery. We love Gwithian and Watergate Bay - with the added bonus of Jamie Oliver's Fifteen Restaurant. There are amazing gardens on the doorstep at Glendurgan, Trebah and Trelissick. The Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan are unmissable.

We've never met Ross Poldark or Demelza on our trips around Cornwall, but you can see lots of the places where Poldark has been filmed including Lamorna Cove and Porthcurnow. Near there is The Minack Theatre. Don't worry about what play you are watching, just book, take a picnic and enjoy sitting on a unique theatre seat looking out at the most incredible backdrop. We have been five times and have been lucky and always seen dolphins, sometimes basking sharks too.

Because of the balconies and decking the house is not ideal for toddlers.

Super fantastic AMAZING!!!!

  • 5 of 5

From the moment you enter this house you know you are in another world !!! Fabulous facilities and position. So much space we never felt on top of each other , even on the wettest of days . The little touches made such a difference too ... the shower gel in the showers , the divine cinnamon scones and the stunning Cornish wine from Polgoon vineyard ... a real find ! It really was a very comfortable stay from the amazing beds and all of the things that make a house a home .. thank you Ruth, Paul and family for letting us live the dream if only for a week ❤️ We will be back for sure ( if you'll have us!)

A fabulous house in the most stunning of locations offering fantastic sea views.

  • 5 of 5

A fabulous house with bags of space and all the amenities you could want for a family holiday. There are fantastic views from the balconies and deck space from which to soak up the stunning sea and beach views or just enjoy a relaxing coffee in the sun. Proximity to Falmouth centre is ideal and offers evening flexibility and some of the best pubs and eateries around. The location offers easy access to Gylly beach which is great for swimming, water sports, relaxing and rock pooling. Via the coastal path you can also access swanspool beach and meanporth without the need for a car. One of the most relaxing holidays we have had in the south west and we will definitely aim to be back sooner rather than later. Ruth and Paul are fantastic hosts with nothing too much trouble and ensuring the property is in fantastic condition.

A lovely week in cornwall

  • 5 of 5

We had the pleasure of being in this beautiful home overlooking the sea in Falmouth this month. We were welcomed with homemade scones and marmalade by our charming hosts Ruth and Paul. The home is in a wonderful location; we were able to walk to restaurants, shopping area, ferries, etc with no problem. The house, the garden, the summerhouse . . . All were fabulous and we would love to return to this beautiful area of England and to stay in this very lovely home.

Ruth was so kind to help us in advance with our transport from London to Falmouth as well as other arrangements. She and Paul are so gracious.

Owner's Response: Thank you Susan for your lovely review. What a treat it was for us to spend some time with you. I was so pleased you asked for help with your arrangements and that Paul and I were able to share our love of Cornwall with you. I'm particularly delighted that, as you had travelled all the way from the USA, your holiday was everything you hoped it would be.

Great and lovely house

  • 5 of 5

It is a lovely house with much space, for 6 persons more than enough. The rooms are very spacious with two lovely balcons in the second floor and especially in the kitchen you almost can´t use all the drawers - there are so many of them. :)

We really liked to sit and eat outside with the fantastic view onto the beach and open sea. The garden is very neat and contains many flowers and also berrys or herbs. A special feature is the grand piano with a beatiful sound.

In case we had questions or problems we could always ask the customer service and we got help very quickly.

The beach and the city centre of Falmouth are easy to reach. Thereby you could do activities like canoeing, stand-up paddling, swimming and hiking or shopping etc. in Falmouth.

We would in any case recommend this property!
