About the property

Luxury sea view 2 bed apartment

A top floor, 2 bedroom apartment, with air-conditioning, in a complex of 18 privately owned apartments, on the edge of the Torre Soli Nou urbanisation. Whilst there are hotels on the urbanisation, it is mostly private villas and apartments. Marianda 2 is situated in its own gardens, with views over open countryside to the rear. There is a private shared swimming pool, with a separate shallow end for small children. Son Bou beach, the longest on the island, is a short distance away (5 minutes by car). The Marianda 2 apartments are more spacious than standard 2 bedroom holiday apartments, and can be suitable for permanent occupation. Because they are privately owned, they are rarely fully occupied, apart from the peak July/August period. They are ideal for couples who want comfortable accommodation in a quiet location, but not recommended for groups of youngsters looking for nightlife. There are shops and restaurants in Son Bou, and a local supermarket just 200m away.

About MARK SMITH

We first went on holiday to Menorca some 20 years ago, and have stayed in various hotels around the island. Having been on numerous beach holidays to other places, we soon came to the conclusion that we couldn't find a better beach anywhere than Son Bou! We bought the apartment in 2003 and have never looked back enjoying great family holidays and making friends with Islanders and Brits alike. We quickly came to appreciate what a beautiful island Menorca is when we started to explore it more. Away from the peak time of July and August, the island is a quiet rural paradise. The opening up of the Cami de Cavalls, an old horse trail that goes all round the Island, has added to the many delightful walks and places to explore. Mahon is the very interesting capital both by day and night but the white sands of Son Bou beach take some beating!

Son Bou the local resort has a good selection of bars, restaurants, shops and entertainment. On the 2 mile beautiful white sandy beach there are several beach bars and sunbeds/umbrellas can be hired. In the peak season pedalos and motorboats can be hired on the beach. There is also a banana-boat for the adventurous!

Well equipped, comfortable with perfect views - exactly as described

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Son Bou, a lovely resort with an outstanding safe beach. The apartment is very well equipped, with 2 decent size bedrooms, a large shower room (with a lovely shower), and great through lounge/kitchen/diner. The highlight is the outside patio, which is huge and with excellent views across to the sea - great for just sitting and having a drink or for eating on. Mark was always responsive, both via phone, e-mail and text. We chose to eat out every evening, but you could have easily stayed in - there was everything you could need to fully cater at the apartment. The beach is about 1.5km away (we drove and it literally took 3 minutes), and we walked each evening to the restaurants in town which is an equivalent distance (20 minutes or so at a pleasant pace and through a nice, quiet area. The pool on site was fabulous, never a problem with sun beds (we often had it to ourselves) and the gardens are well maintained. We'd happily recommend to others, either as a couple or with older children.

Outstanding views, very comfortable apartment and spacious balcony.

Even before we began our holiday the support from Mark was brilliant. Not only did he reply to all our e-mails he even phoned just before we left. Both bedrooms were extremely comfortable and the views to the hills and forest at the back were superb. Really comfortable sofas in the lounge and the kitchen was well equipped. The highlight for us though was the large balcony and the outstanding views, the pictures shown on the website don't do these views justice. The apartment is right on the western edge of the resort and the peace and quiet was sublime. The walk into the heart of Son Bou took about 20 mins, probably shorter if you are fitter than me. Hotel Jardin de Menorca is less than 5 mins walk, nice to go and sit with a drink on the terrace but the meals are a bit cafeteria style. Cafe Allessandro not too bad but without doubt the best restaurant of all was Casa Andres which you have to book. We stupidly left this to our second last night and could not book for our last night. Costs a wee bit more but definately worth it. Mahaon and Cituadella are definately worth a visit particularly at the port areas. Some of the coves on the island are beautiful and would recommend hiring a car, driving is fairly easy on Menorca. We went on a great boat trip from Cala n' Bosch, which in itself is very pretty. Boat trip takes you into many coves and you can swim from it in a couple of them. Menorca is not cheap but if you hire a car use the supermarkets in Alaior or Mercedal as these are a bit cheaper than those in Son Bou. Cannot recommend this apartment highly enough if you want a relaxing holiday with fantastic views.

August in Son Bou,

Just back from fantastic weeks stay in sunny Son Bou. The apartment was as described and more, spotlessly clean, well equipped and fantastic views. The bedrooms and bathroom (not pictured) are decorated to the same high standard as the rest of the apartment and the pool area is a good size and quiet most days. Found the Chinese restaurant in town to be the best locally but found some lovely places in Mahon and Ciutadella. Mark thanks for the excellent communication and we would definitely recommend both this accommodation and location to friends and family.

Stunning sea view!

We have just had the most lovely peaceful holiday. The apartment has everything you could need plus little home from home essentials such as China mugs for our morning cup of tea and a cool box for picnics on the beach. Lovely comfy beds crisp cotton sheets and plenty of space in the big bathroom. The large balcony was great and we watched the sun set most evenings before dinner. The pool was a good size and fresh water, most days we were the only ones sat there. The complex, pool and apartment were spotlessly clean. The local supermarket is a short walk and has a good selection. We would definitely stay here again.

L'appartement est idéalement situé mais une voiture est plus car assez éloigné de la plage de Son Bou.

Il est calme et les installations correspondent à ce dont nous avons besoin. Un léger manque quant aux accessoires de la vie de tous les jours (papier absorbant, sacs poubelle, etc.).

Le propriétaire est disponible et répond rapidement. Nous avons eu juste un peu de mal avec le taxi pour trouver l'endroit car même avec les explications procurées par le propriétaire les taxis ne connaissaient pas le lieux (qui est pourtant très facile d'accès).
