Overview

About the property

Newly renovated holiday cottage situated in the heart of Horton-in-Ribblesdale

This cottage is perfectly located for the legendary Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge, as the walk traditionally starts and ends in Horton in Ribblesdale village. Horton itself is ideally situated for walking breaks in the Dales. The house is a few moments' walk from the village train station and benefits from stunning views across to Pen y Ghent.

The cottage was lovingly restored and enhanced over winter 2015/16. Owners Amos and Anne are keen walkers and so the house is as hiker-friendly as can be!

There is a well equipped kitchen with washing machine and dishwasher, plenty of boot storage space, large sitting room and dining conservatory overlooking Pen y Ghent, two generous twin bedrooms and one double, plus house bathroom. Well behaved dogs are welcome.

Amenities include: LPG gas central heating, with multi-fuel stove; electric cooker; microwave; fridge/freezer; TV with FreeSat and built in DVD player; selection of books DVDs and games. Bed linen, towels, kitchen towels all included in rent. Cot available on request. Enclosed patio garden with views to Pen y Ghent and garden furniture.

Settle, the nearest town, is 6 miles away with supermarkets, shops, banks, chemist, post office etc. The nearest pub is 3 minutes walk.

Well equipped cottage in a fantastic location

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay of nearly a week here. The location was perfect for walking in the dales and were able to walk out the door for circular walks up Penn y Ghent and Ingleborough. We found the cottage was really nice, well decorated and cosy, and very well equipped and was a joy to stay in. The great views of Penn y Ghent at breakfast and the woodburner were real highlights. We would definitely stay here again and hope to come back and do the full three peaks (which can start and finish from this cottage!) when our 6 year old is a little bigger.

Great location

  • 4 of 5

A very cosy and well equipped house in a great location for many walks including the Three Peaks. All as described and as photos. The view of Pen-y-Ghent is perfect. It was also helpful to have all basic supplies in the house as nearest shop is 6 miles away, much appreciated. The owner was helpful and the file in the house explained everything fully, easy check in and out. However, the house was not as clean as it could be, the cooker was greasy and needed wiping down and the kitchen units were dusty/dirty on the fronts, doormat was muddy and plenty of dust in the bathroom too, coasters were dirty and needed cleaning before use (but may have been left like that by previous tenants). After a little cleaning we were able to enjoy our stay and would consider booking again. A point to note, if using the cooker I recommend setting it 20 degrees lower than needed as it did seem to over heat food!

Super Spot

  • 4 of 5

Fantastic location with splendid view of Peny - Ghent enjoyed whilst indulging in Christmas lunch. The cottage was clean and warm on arrival with a delightful welcome pack and plentiful supply of logs. Walks along the Ribble were beautiful and the viaduct at Ribble Head very interesting. The only fault was the dim light in the sitting room which meant I was unable to read or study maps there. Would recommend the cottage to friends and family.

Cosy cottage, great location.

Well equipped cottage, nothing wanted for. Lovely log fire ideal after long walks in the typical Yorkshire weather.

Great location, beautiful view, comfortable cottage

  • 4 of 5

The cottage is well equipped and comfortable. The beds and linens are great. The village is charming and well located for exploring the Dales. We enjoyed our stay. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because the door to the conservatory was broken and we could use it. The landlord has ordered a new door so this won't be a problem in the future. We would definitely stay here again.
