About Philippa white

We have owned our house since 2008 and this is the second year we have rented it out. We have had lots of fabulous holidays often just staying around the house and pool. We love to go to the seaside when it's hot. The beach is a pleasant 45 minute drive away. There is a free beach but you can hire deckchairs and shade on the reserved beach - make sure you negotiate. There is some sand but you can also swim from the rocks. There is a lovely restaurant called "La Baracchina" overlooking the sea. There is also a coffee and snack bar there.

Philippa white purchased this house in 2008

Why Philippa white chose Chianni

It's in an uncommercial part of Tuscany. It's not far from Pisa airport and the coast. There are also a lot of places to visit within an hour.

What makes this house unique

Shared pool with views. Open 1 June to end September. Own private garden. Close to hamlet of rivalto and 15 minutes beautiful walk to medieval village of chianni with shops and restaurants. Eat indoors or outdoors at Le Vecchie Cantine, Locanda del Gallo or for an inexpensive meal, the pizzeria. The house is fully equipped with 4 sun loungers, parasols, bbq, outdoor furniture and boules set!

There is wifi at the property and it can also be obtained free at Anna's bar in chianni. There is no tv but there is a tv screen for watching videos.

We would not recommend our property for children under 5 as there are stone stairs and we don't want to cause any danger.

Lovely relaxing holiday in a peaceful rural setting.

  • 5 of 5

Lovely, clean and very well-equipped house, with private garden and shared pool. The garden was great for relaxing, eating al fresco, complete with a BBQ. The house was big enough for two adults and two teenagers, and having two bathrooms helped with that.

The small complex was very quiet during our stay which suited us! The house is in a super rural setting yet not too far from amazing towns like Florence, Siena, Pisa and Volterra. A car is essential.

Philippa was very helpful and provided all the information we needed before our trip. Thanks!

The property itself was good and Chianni was charming and lively

  • 4 of 5

House itself is fine. Spacious, airy rooms, 2 good bathrooms although shower cubicles could be extended as they are tight for space. Kitchen well equipped though a microwave would be useful addition. Enclosed back Garden was rough grass but ideal for relaxing with nice views. Good BBQ. 4 sunbeds. Pool is good though some 100 yards from the house. It needs permanent sunbeds for guests use. Complex was quiet when we were there. The hamlet inear the house is lovely and nearby Chianni is charming and lively with 2 excellent restaurants and a bar that does takeaways. Tuscany is just beautiful

Rural bliss

  • 5 of 5

Perfect house for four! Well equipped, as British owned houses often are. It was great to cook inside or outside: the oven was efficient and so was the bbq. We like to cook on holiday in Italy because fruit , veg and meat are so good. The recommended supermarket was excellent and the small shops in Chianni were well worth using. The butcher was exceptional.

We ate out and found the restaurants to offer good food at a very good price,

It must be said that the site was very quiet, which we loved. We were lucky with the weather, though overwhelmed by the heat in Florence. We were glad to escape back to the hills and the gorgeous view of Volterra!

Comfortable, equipped with all you need for a perfect holiday

  • 5 of 5

We spent 10 lovely days at this very comfortable accommodation. The complex is small and friendly, the pool was perfect for a daily swim. We visited many areas such as Pisa, Florence and more (car essential). The house was equipped with everything we needed and was very clean and well presented. Recommended for families or couples to enjoy this beautiful area in Tuscany. Amazing views from the garden!

Thanks to Philippa for ensuring any information we needed was provided and also to the maintenance staff for making us feel so welcome. A lovely holiday :)

An idyllic retreat and brilliant base

  • 5 of 5

The property is an ideal base from which tho explore the region. The house is adequate for 3/4 people and the private garden at the rear enables some relaxation time along with the swimming pool facility on the other side of the development. The water in the pool was cold on entry (even though we were in the middle of summer), but one soon got used to this once you were submerged. The location of the house certainly requires a sat nav device, but it is quiet and well maintained. The 'manager' is extremely helpful despite his English (and our Italian) being minimalistic. The house is nicely furnished and has all the necessary equipment you would ever need for such a stay. We particularly enjoyed sitting on the balcony in the early evening and partaking in the local wine. There are 2 shower rooms/toilets, which is helpful and the furniture is most suited to the property. It is clean, fresh and well maintained with sufficient equipment for sunbathing, eating outside etc. The owner communicated very well prior to the vacation and even during it, which was most helpful. Rivalto, (the nearest village) is very basic, although Chianni is a very short drive (or long walk) and has a greater range of facilities. There is much to do in the area and we would recommend Pisa, Lucca (hire bikes for 3 hours), Florence, San Gimignano, Volterra, Lajatico, Casciana Terme (thermal pools in particular), and even Rome is accessible by car or train. We would highly recommend this property to anyone who wants to explore this beautiful area of Tuscany, although a car is essential for this.

A Superb place

  • 5 of 5

A family friendly place with good amenities and great location with fantastic views overlooking the Chianni/Volterra vista. Superb swimming pool and very warm conscientious service from the onsite Management team. Fantastic access to the beach (recommend La California near to Cecina), Pisa, San Gimignano and all the beautiful places on route. Very good 4G internet coverage (26Mb download speeds!) plenty to stream Live TV, Netflix etc. Tip is to pick up a Tre Mobile Prepaid SIM from Pisa Airport (35Eurors for 30Gb). Follow signs for Chianni and then Rivalto to find apartment!

Would stay again :)
