About the property

Self Catering holiday house for rental next to the second largest ancient caledonian forest in Scotland dating to the ice age. Rural location but set in a small cluster of properties close to the south shore of Loch Rannoch, Highland Perthshire. Very spacious and comfortably furnished to a high standard. Lounge with open fire and oil central heating throughout. Dining room leading to fully equipped kitchen and utility. Two double bedrooms, one ensuite shower/wc, two single bedrooms and family bathroom. single garage with room for several more vehicles in driveway. Free unlimited wi fi, landline phone calls charged. Timed oil central heating included, electric charged at 18p a unit by meter reading. Bed linens provided. Bring your own towels, can be provided at cost for overseas visitors. Please note a cleaning charge of £35 an hour will be deducted from the housekeeping deposit if the property is left in a dirty condition.

Notes:
Water on the Estate is untreated spring water that comes up through peat so tinted brown. The water is not treated with chemicals like mains water supplies and although the bacterial testing has passed we recommend boiling water for drinking for elderly and babies. Do not flush anything down the toilet that would cause a blockage including wet wipes or moist toilet wipes. We have a private bio system serving the property so only toilet tissue to be flushed. Blockages in the drains caused by flushing prohibited items down the toilet will be charged for.

Homely bungalow in beautiful area of Scotland

The bungalow was very clean and homely in beautiful surroundings. There are quite a few other bungalows nearby, but there is good space between them all. You're not stuck in the middle of nowhere alone!

It's about 15 minutes drive to the nearest village, a super quaint place nestled between two large hills. There's a great cafe there.

Pitlochry is another 30 to 40 mins drive away, it's a very touristy place, but great for getting supplies and is a nice place to visit.

The hosts were very responsive and friendly. I do recommend and would definitely go back.

Peaceful & Comfortable

My son and I had a very relaxing and comfortable few days in the bungalow. Lovely to hear the sounds of the forest, especially in the morning.

Tip: One thing I should have done is to top up with fuel when passing Pitlochry. Petrol stations are few and far between in this area.

Owner's Response: That's great you enjoyed your stay and appreciated the natural environment around you. It's a good tip about the fuel station, unfortunately the local garage doesn't sell fuel anymore, I'll certainly put this in the visitor notes.

Not impressed.

Faclties not as describe smelt very musty and damp. Heating Times to go off at 8pm had to call for help.Tv and DVD didn't work fixed on the last day.also the ensuite shower broken.The oven was very dirty .

Owner's Response: We are very shocked at this review as we felt we went over and above to accommodate the guests for Hogmanay. Firstly the property is kept aired and heated and has never had a problem with damp. It was warm and just cleaned from a changeover from guests the day before. We had a call that the heating had gone off, so we went up right away and found the timer control switch had been tampered with so the heating was off. In order to accommodate the guests we set the heating to 24/7 which as heating is only advertised as timed was very generous. We sorted out the sky connection for tv as soon as possible, being a national holiday it's not thinkable that someone would be out on call in this rural area at Hogmanay. So once the tv was fixed the guests were happy and we had no complaint about the shower not working. We will look at this now it's been brought to our attention but the shower was only cleaned and looked at before the previous guests arrived and at the changeover. Had there also been a complaint about the cleanliness of any aspect been brought to our attention we would have looked at that right away. We are dissapointed that this review has been written as the guests that wrote it said that they were really enjoying the holiday and no mention other than the heating and tv was said at the time. To make such negative remarks that could have a detrimental effect on our letting of this property is very unfair. I hope anyone reading it will also read the lovely reviews we had from previous other guests.

Peaceful and relaxing location

Very much enjoyed our stay. The property is very spacious with two good size double rooms and two single rooms. Julia was very accommodating in allowing us to bring an extra travel cot for our youngest as this took us over the maximum capacity of 6. Property was clean and had all the kitchen equipment that we required. Unfortunately the Sky TV wasn't working due to remote location, however, this is the beauty of this property as you are away from it all in a peaceful location. There was a good selection of DVD's and we had brought a few of our own to keep the kids occupied. Free wifi worked well. If looking for excellent value you for money this is the place for you.

Nice Accommodation, Nice Location

Property and location were great, we had an enjoyable weekend. Everything was clean, easy to use, etc. Could maybe have done with a little bit more information beforehand (e.g. address, check in details weren't provided until the day before we arrived). Other than that, all good!

Peace and Quiet
