Overview

About the property

A stunning new four-bedroom villa with private pool and gardens on the sea!

Built directly on the sea, with sweeping views over the Ionian, Villa Alexandros is a stunning new four-bedroom villa with private pool and garden. It is a short drive from the nearest village and 15-20 minutes from the beaches of Kefalonia’s sandy south coast.

Reached by a winding lane from the road above, Alexandros sits in a south-facing position, so all its terraces benefit from the wonderful sea views. The house is on two levels. Downstairs is a huge kitchen/living/dining room, with sofas, widescreen TV and a dining-table for ten; two large sliding glass doors open onto the terraces that run the length of the villa. Beside the dining area is a full kitchen, with utility room to the side. Also downstairs is a large twin bedroom with ensuite bathroom (with shower and bathtub) and French windows onto the terrace.

A broad staircase leads to three further bedrooms. The master bedroom has a superking bed facing a picture window, with sliding glass doors onto a veranda with sea views. The second double bedroom has a similar veranda, while the twin bedroom looks out onto the hillside. The bedrooms are spacious, airy, with air-conditioning and mosquito screens and all have ensuite bathrooms.

Stone and marble floors help keep the villa cool, as does the constant sea breeze passing through the French windows. Outside, shade is provided by the roof over the terrace and two pergolas. The garden is laid to grass with the pool in the centre, flowerbeds to the sides and a barbecue at one end. At the other end of the garden a flight of wooden steps descends to a wide shelf of rock at the foot. The shelf, which needs careful negotiating in parts, provides a private spot for swimming and sunbathing.

The most amazing view ever!

  • 5 of 5

We couldn't believe our eyes when we pulled up at the villa - the view was amazing. Waking up to that for a fortnight was just wonderful. We love the island anyway - we've been holidaying there for 7 years now. But this was the best villa view we've ever had.

The villa itself is a little way out of the village - down a very steep winding road - but that's just about the norm for Kefalonia. So you can't really get anywhere on foot and definitely need a car - even to pop up to the local mini-markets and taverna/café. We spent a lot of time at the villa BBQing and generally soaking up the fantastic surroundings.

There's loads of space inside and out. There were 8 of us - 3 generations - and we got by with very little eye rolling over the fortnight. It's easy to get away from each other if you want or need to!

The pool is great too, but the hit of the holiday was the table tennis. It was put to plenty of use, with daily tournaments and a final on the last day. Great fun!

All in all, a fabulous choice of villa for large families. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Impressive villa with amazing views

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for two weeks in May, our second week with our daughter, son in law and four month old grandson. The villa is extremely spacious and very well equipped, all bedrooms having full en suite bathrooms with spa type baths and very comfortable beds. Linens and towels changed regularly, pool towels as well, won't need to bring your own, or your own hairdryer as there is one in each bedroom! The views from the pool area and the upper balconies were stunning, both with furniture to sit out on. There was everything you could need for a two week holiday, we requested a travel cot which was brought over when we needed it, a brand new cot which was perfect. The rooms had air con but we didn't need it as the temperatures hadn't got to that point in early May.

Outside there were plenty sunbeds with cushions and two pergolas for shade when required. The pool was quite cool in early May, but once you were in it was ok!! By high summer it will be a nice temperature I think!

There was wifi in the villa but it could be a bit slow, however it was sufficient for light surfing, checking emails etc.

Access to the villa, like many Greek villas, was down a very steep road with hairpin bends, we wouldn't recommend having a larger car as the roads can be quite narrow in places, we had a Peugeot 208 which was perfect for the roads on the island.

There is a steep path that leads down to the rocky beach, but it hadn't been tended to for a while and was very overgrown with one or two loose boards that needed mending. As I said, it's not a sandy type beach, large rocks rather than shingly pebbles. We had previously hired a boat and explored the coast around Katelios and Lourdas but didn't this time, however I'd highly recommend that as it's a great way to see the inaccessible coves and coastline.

Overall, we'd happily return to this villa, it was worth the money and is very well equipped for a large family. Travel a la Carte were very attentive and helpful, without being intrusive.

Peaceful fabulous villa on the cliff top

  • 5 of 5

possibly the best villa we have stayed in over 15 years. Views are fantastic over the sea . Lovely pool, which is enhanced by your own secluded foreshore for sea swimming, accessed steps from the garden. Very well maintained ,well equipped and great service from the A La Carte team . One villa we will use again !

Great house with breath taking view

  • 4 of 5

The house was excellent for two famillies with teenagers. Loved the cliffs at the end if the road, don't miss it. The only backside was an invasion of wasps which apparently was a problem for part of the island. We had PET bottles with juice hanging around the patio and during the week caught over 100 wasps. They did disturb us quite a bit. Loved the family run taverna in Spartia and the beaches we found in the bay!
