The South apartment is a spacious, 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom apartment on 2 floors. You enter the property on ground level which has an open plan living/dining room and kitchen. The Scandinavian wood stove creates a cozy atmosphere. Cable TV and internet are also available. All furnishings are modern and high quality. The kitchen is well equipped with toaster, electric kettle, ceramic hob, oven, microwave, fondue set, etc. There is floor heating throughout the apartment.

On the lower floor, which has garden access, there are 2 double bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms of which one a shower room and the other with a full bath.

Grindelwald is a family friendly resort. Using the Jungfrau region pass, there is access to Grindelwald First, Wengen (including the world famous Lauberhorn) and skiing on the Schilthorn, the scene for 007 "On Her Majesty's Secret Service", catered for by the car free

village of Mürren. There is over 250 km of skiing, with plenty of off-piste and snow parks. It has good restaurants and aprés ski bars, a sports centre with indoor pool, slides, sauna, climbing wall and ice rink, and additional spa facilities in many of the larger hotels. It has

fantastic skiing for all levels and boasts the longest sledge run in Europe (15km). At the top of the Mannlichen cable car is a lovely warm and friendly crèche which accepts children from 6 months old, and another good creche at Bodmi in First. Grindelwald and Wengen

play host to the international Lauberhorn downhill ski race in mid January and Snowpenair concert in early April.

In summer, this region of the Bernese Oberland is considered one of the most beautiful moutainscapes in the Alps. Hiking, moutain-biking, mountaineering, outdoor swimming in various lakes and pools, and paragliding are amongst the many varied activities available.

The village outdoor swimming pool is 1km from the apartment. The area is not purpose built for skiing, and its main industry is cattle and goat farming, so there is an all year round natural infrastructure.

We enjoyed our stay as the chalet was spacious enough for two families and had everything we needed!

Wonderful stay in a spacious chalet. A few suggestions for improvement. The upper bedroom could have had a double bed or at least twin beds that had no gap. There could be extra pillows in the cupboard for those who want double pillows. Overall, very comfortable!

Lovely and complete

This is a lovely 'Ferienwohnung' at the base of Grindelwald village. The place was clean and very complete including TV, wifi and all kitchen utensils one can think of (dishwasher, cutlery, oven, fondue set, etc.). The place has a large balcony and a garden with a great view of the Eiger.

The owner was very friendly and helpful and offered to provide us with anything we needed (and delivered on that promise).

The reason we chose this specific home was the fact that, even though it officially is not wheelchair proof, it is very accessible.

One can access the home without stairs (just one curb) and it has a sleeping room and a bathroom on the ground floor (and 2 more sleeping- and bathrooms one floor lower at the garden level, accessible by an in-house stairs). With these facilities we were able to bring my disabled mother (who uses a rollater) on this vacation. We were very happy and satified that the home fully delivered on its promises.

If you can afford this place, I would recommend it to everyone: we have been going to Switzerland for decades and this was probably the best and most complete 'Ferienwohnung' we every rented.

A review is never complete without at least one improvement suggestion: the couches were a little too old and low for us. The will probably be fine for young people to hang in, but ergonomically they need replacement. Otherwise we had a great stay here and can recommend it to everyone.

Family stay in July

A fabulous week with a fantastic view. A super property, clean, well laid out and equipped to a good standard. We did eat in for most of the week and the kitchen a pleasure to use - even though on holiday. Quiet area, parking area close by and manager available for queries and assistance during our stay.
