Sadly we found the property shabby and lacking in a lot of ways.
There were a lot of issues with what we felt to be safety issues, the fire cement which seals the chimney to the log burner was missing and you could see the flames flickering in the gap. There was no carbon monoxide alarm in the property. The pine board ceiling was also the floor above, which was also a fire concern as there was no fire boarding which I was shocked about, as there were no carpets upstairs, it was noisy and you could hear everything in every room. There is only one door to the building as the one one the front is bricked up inside, also a safety concern. The upstairs front window has secondary glazing screwed in place and the other two windows are too small for any escape. There is a plug socket in the bathroom, legal? Although the property is meant for a max of four people, I thought that there would have been more than four plates. The stair case is very steep and I think should have a banister on both sides, not just the wall. The parking was adequate and secure and the starter pack for the log burner was appreciated, The kitchen was draughty as the external door was a thin pine one which had an inch gap at the bottom. The sitting room could do with another sofa or armchair as we had to sit in a row which wasn’t ideal. The tv was not much bigger than a laptop and we couldn’t get any normal channels. It took us a couple of days to figure out the bedside lamps had to be switched on across the room from an extension lead..The bedding was clean and comfortable minus the uncomfortable pillows. I think the property could be much nicer with a bit of money spent in the right places. Main concerns are safety.
