Ballyblood Lodge is a perfect rental on a trip to Ireland!!

  • 5 of 5

The pictures do not begin to showcase the homey and spacious lodge! It was a perfect place to stay for 2 couples for a week. We used it as our home base when we went out exploring every day. After a long day, the jacuzzi was a welcome relief!

There is so much attention to detail within the lodge and it is clean and well decorated. What a nice added touch to find scones and jam when we checked in! The owners were very available with any questions and greeted us on the first day to point things out for us. Very nice and welcoming people!

My ONLY complaint is that the week went too fast!

Thank you, Tricia!! You and Ballyblood Lodge made a great trip even better!!

Much more than we expected!

  • 5 of 5

Tricia and Kevin were very welcoming and the cottage is very modern, spacious and well supplied. We can not say enough about this property. If you enjoy the Irish countryside, this is a great location to experience it. We have enjoyed numerous vacations to Ireland and our stay at Ballyblood cottage ranks among the best. We would not hesitate to book this property again on our next visit.

Perfect Location, Great Amenities and Wonderful Hosts

  • 5 of 5

Our trip to Ballyblood Lodge started with a drive through the beautiful countryside of eastern Co. Clare. On arrival, the Murphys (who own the property and live nearby) greeted us warmly, and we found a refrigerator stocked with fresh, homemade scones, raspberry jam, butter and milk to welcome us. Throughout our entire stay, the Murphys were wonderful hosts. They explained all of the aspects of the property, including using the hot tub, washer/dryer, TV and central thermostat. Additionally, they were always available when we dropped by their house, and welcomed us in like family (as did their wonderful dog, Captain!)

The photos of the property do not do justice to its actual interior size. A converted barn, the property is massive inside with a large kitchen, huge living room on the first floor, an additional, very comfortable sitting room on the second floor adjacent to the deck, and three well-appointed bedrooms. The bathrooms were both of decent size, and the lower bathroom (which I primarily used) has both a primary and secondary hot water system. The showers were hot, and the water pressure was excellent. All of the utilities -- refrigerator, washer/dryer, and dishwasher - worked flawlessly. The washer/dryer capacity is small, but they both did their job well and in a reasonably short period of time. The WiFi Internet signal was strong, and the bandwidth was fast enough to support HD streaming.

The hot tub is one of the highlights of the property. The Murphys keep it immaculately clean, and its location on the back deck of the house is highly secluded (except from the cow in the adjacent field, and she didn't seem to mind). The temperature was excellent, and all of the jets worked very well. The tub itself can hold five-to-six people comfortably.

From a location perspective, Ballyblood Lodge is positioned between Tulla and Kikishen, about a 20-minute drive from Ennis (the closest bona fide city). From this location, we were able to make multiple driving trips all across southwestern Ireland, including the Cliffs of Moher and Doolin (approx. 1 hour), Galway (90 minutes), Ballybunion (90 mins), and even Dingle (2.5 hours), Killarney (2 hours) and Kenmare (2.5 hours). Near the house are several excellent pubs in Kilkishen and Sixmilebridge.

Overall, we were incredibly happy with Ballyblood Lodge, and we will absolutely rent this property again! Highly recommended!
