About Diane Arif

South Wales Homes has been renting private homes since 2000. 266 is our first Holiday Cottage venture. We have done our utmost to make this cottage a Haven for your enjoyment. We have been extremely privileged to have lived in this area most of our lives to enjoy the mountains and scenery and the many places to visit which are all close at hand. We live locally, and will always be accessible. We all speak English, but one of our team can converse in Turkish.

Diane Arif purchased this cottage in 2007

Why Diane Arif chose Glamorgan

266 captured our hearts the first time we walked through the door. The charming wood beams, the stone wall and the old stone staircase to upstairs. This cottage was different, and we fell in love with it straight away. Since purchase we have completed many renovations, including new wood staircases, but retaining the 'olde worlde' stone staircase, although you can't use it. We're sure 266 will capture your heart as it did ours.

What makes this cottage unique

Once you go through the front porch you leave the rest of the world behind. Yet you're only minutes away from any amenity you could need. Light the log fire, jump in the hot tub, get in a takeaway and a bottle of something nice!!! oh!!! Sheer bliss

Stay at 266 Cottage for 2 nights

  • 5 of 5

Had a fantastic stay at 266 Cottage for 2 nights. We were biking in Wales and had been double booked at our original accommodation. Diane saved our day as we only found out last minute. Accommodation was brilliant, really lovely and clean and the hot tub a real bonus especially for those aching limbs!! Diane so helpful including sending us discounted dining vouchers for both nights. Highly recommended. Well done Diane for your care and enthusiasm. 5 STARS

Owner's Response: Hi Bambos, Efharisto para poli!! Thank you so much for your kind remarks. Although your group were desperate for accommodation, - from our side - we had the vacancy, beds made up, Hot - Tub on, and we were ready to rumble... it was lovely to fill our Cottage, even last minute. So we were all a blessing to each other. I know you all enjoyed the Steaks - haha, they taste much better when they don't cost so much. We really hope you won't forget us Bambos, and hope you all come back very soon. Best Wishes Diane, Bill and the "266" Team.

everything as per picturs and more

  • 5 of 5

we spent six nights at the property and we couldn't have asked for more. everything was as advertised. the hot tub was a joy after a day walking in the Brecon's. the terraced area was private clean a good size and next time I will bring my grandchildren who will love the play area. inside the property was Fab the beds were comfy and the rooms were a good size. the whole cottage had a warm homely feel to it. Dianne was really friendly and provided lots of information to make the most of our stay. I don't give praise lightly but from the 5 stars awarded I really encourage anyone wanting a mix of places to visit to stay here. within 40 mins of the front door we were in the mountains walking or in the distillery. at the beach in Barry Island. Tuesday good Market in Abergavenny again 40 mins.

Owner's Response: "Thanks for your encouraging review Paul. It was so lovely to meet you after we'd corresponded so well. I know you'd have liked to bring the grandchildren, but hopefully you'll have good timing for school holidays the on the next visit. Was thrilled to hear you'd enjoyed Barry Island, I know you're a Gavin and Stacie Fan! We all enjoyed Barry on Sunday School outings when we were kids, love the hot doughnuts and candy floss... ooooww and EVERYTHING that makes Barry Island special. We really hope to welcome you all again soon Paul. Best Wishes, Diane and all the "266" Team"

Fabulous house

  • 5 of 5

Great place with everything you would ever need in a great location to so many brilliant places to visit. Diane was so helpful and friendly and immediately make you feel at home there.

Hot tub was so good to come back to after a long day walking around the many places to visit. there really are too many to mention but the Big Pit underground tour and the showcaves were something else.

Did the clay pigeon shooting, really fun as we've never done that before but there was no longer 50 shots as originally told but only 25. But still a great activity and would do it again.

Overall a great holiday in a lovely house and would love to come back sometime

Owner's Response: Hi Claire, Thank you so much for your informative review. It was our pleasure to have you and your group stay at 266. It’s excellent that you’ve mentioned the Show-Caves and Big Pit in your review, they are in our Top Ten of places to visit too., you can’t possibly come to South Wales and miss out on either of them they are both a big part of our heritage. Heyyyy, be careful on the enjoyment with the Clay Pigeon Shooting, we started like you, then got the bug and had our own licences – it’s an amazing sport, although I never seem to win, Hubby’s so much better than I am. I’m so glad you were all up for giving it a try. It was a shame the 50 are now down to 25 shots, and I was sorry that we weren’t informed, but it’s been like that with the other shooting grounds for a long time, so I guess the increase was due to come, and we had a good run at the better deal. I guess it was better to decrease the shots than increase the cost. I really hope your review will encourage more guests to give it a go. Looking forward to welcoming you all again, there’s still lots of places to see and things to do, you just can’t manage it all in one trip. Our best wishes to you all, Diane and the 266 Team

Stunning stay for our honeymoon!

  • 5 of 5

We came for our honeymoon as we had already had an abroad holiday before we got married 12.08.17.

We did not expect it to be this beautiful. It looks even better in person. Diane was amazing and lovely and really made it honeymoon feel. The hot tub topped off all the walking in the beacons we done during the day. Perfect way to relax. We didn't feel the need to spend evenings in the pub as we had everything we needed right there. The cafe over the road had some lovely food and George (a lady) was so nice and helpful. Definitely visit the beacons the Italian "dave" and the Indian up near freya fish bar. It was amazing! Thanks for everything. Will definitely return when we can. Jade and Chay x

Wonderful beautiful home

  • 5 of 5

We came to 266 totally and utterly stressed, and boy what a beautiful surprise we got, the pictures certainly dont do this place justice. The owners were there to greet us and what a wonderful welcome we received. We feel they thought of everything, from leaflets and email info about everything to do in and around Aberdare and South Wales, places to eat.. The owners surpassed themselves giving so much wonderful helpful information.. 266 is central to everything you need for a wonderful stay.. We loved the jacuzzi every night, and the beautiful log fire.. Our 8 year old daughter fell totally in love with her own private play area in the garden..The house was spotless and well equipped with everything you could possibly need. We cant recommend this house and the owners enough.. They found out it was my birthday and made it extra special. They also helped us out with a wheelchair which was so kind of them and a great help.. Diane and Bilgin really go out of their way to ensure you have everything you need to have a great stay.Above and beyond the call of duty.. We cant recommend this place enough and we'll be back. We left relaxed and happy.

Loverly location, excellent reception .

  • 5 of 5

Myself, wife and our 3 girls have just got back from a week at Diane's holiday home, Diane has been absolutely fantastic throughout our whole stay, herself and husband made us feel extremely welcome, The house is amazing and the hot tub was used everyday by our girls, as well as having our own private playground which our 4 year old loved, it was like home from home, 266 heart of the valleys cottage is going to be our returning holiday destination as there is so much to explore and the cottage is in the perfect location. Thanks again for having us and we look forward to seeing you again soon. Andrew, vicki, Tilly, Louise and Chloe.

CANCELLATION BY THE HOLIDAYMAKER The Holidaymaker should notify the owner immediately in writing by email to diane@southwaleshomes.com if he/she wishes to cancel the Booking. The cancellation only takes effect when the owner has received written confirmation from the Holidaymaker. {Ok by email} If the booking is cancelled after the deposit {1st Payment} has been paid none of that amount shall be refunded. If the Booking is cancelled after the balance {2ND payment} of the Rental Charge becomes payable, i.e. less than 50 days before the arrival date, 25% of the whole amount shall be refunded provided the cancellation is more than 30 days before the arrival date. After 30 days before the arrival date no refund will be given on the cancellation of a Booking by the Holidaymaker. However the security deposit of £100 will be repaid. This agreement shall be binding on, and enure to the benefit of, the parties to this agreement and their respective personal representatives and successors, and references to any party shall include that party's personal representatives and successors.
Therefore the owners strongly recommend the holidaymaker to take out an insurance policy to cover the cost of the holiday against reasons for cancellation and against accidental damage.
The maximum number of guest is limited to six persons. This is with the exception of 2 very small children or baby in a cot, which would be arranged with the owner so that a travel cot, or a small blow up bed cot for an older infant could be provided. Either of these would be provided free of charge with the holidaymaker providing bed linen and towels. Damage Policy:-You will be responsible for any damage to the rental property caused by you or your party during your stay whether accidental or deliberate. This property requires a three night MINIMUM STAY. Stays of under 5 nights add £50 to shown quote. We can't be responsible for damage or theft to property {bikes} left in lock-up
