If you are looking to get away from city living and reconnect with the countryside, and looking for a Peak District hideaway, we offer luxury self catering holiday accommodation situated in the heart of the Peak District. Stunning scenery, renowned local landmarks and traditional English hospitality combine to create a relaxing, invigorating experience for visitors to the area. Since 2010, we’ve catered for people seeking holiday cottages in the Peak District, earning rave reviews for our charming and attractive holiday accommodation in the Peak District, at our apartment in the historic Litton Mill.

Litton Mill is situated on the bank of the River Wye close to many well known towns and villages. The nearby village of Litton has everything you may need to get the most out of your retreat, including a community shop and a 17th century pub (the Red Lion), still serving real ale and quality food today. There is a village green where you will also find ancient wooden stocks!

Based in the centre of this relaxing and engaging community, our luxury Peak District apartment at Litton Mill is kitted out with every comfort and you need to make it a home away from home during your stay in the Peak District. The mill itself was founded as far back as 1782 by a pair of prominent local entrepreneurs, Ellis Needham and Thomas Firth, and is steeped with the industrial history that is typical of the time. Despite being nearly destroyed by fire in 1874, the building was renovated and enlarged to its present state, and was converted in 2003 to luxury apartments.

We believe that our apartment is one of the premier holiday cottages in the Peak District. Furnished to a high standard, with en-suite facilities in each of the three bedrooms and a large, open plan living/dining area/kitchen, Number 6 Litton Mill is the perfect base from which to explore the Peak District’s many hidden treasures.

Visitors to the area can gain easy access to the renowned Monsal Trail, a 19th century train line that has since been converted into an 8.5 mile route for walkers, cyclists and horse riders that takes in the best of the Peak District’s iconic landscapes. More recently, a £2.5 million renovation has seen the Monsal Tunnels open to the public, and people of all ages can immerse themselves in the history and heritage of the area when they walk through the well-lit tunnels and passages.

Other must-see towns & villages within a short distance of our Peak District Holiday Cottage include:

Castleton

Mam Tor

Buxton

Bakewell

Guests should not miss a visit to the nearby town of Tideswell, with its fine country inns and vibrant high street, which includes butchers, bakers, chemists, Fish & Chip shops and much more. One of the key attractions of the town is the “Cathedral of the Peak”, dedicated to St John the Baptist and completed way back in 1400.

PLEASE NOTE...

1. Normal changeover day Saturday, a different day in peak periods will be at a premium price, or will only be considered on a last minute basis.

2. Similarly short breaks in peak periods will only be considered on a last minute basis.

3. Peak periods are late may bank holiday week to end September and all school holidays.

It may be better to 'ask the owner a question' rather than go straight to request a booking so that I can advise on prices and alternative dates if necessary.

Lovely apartment in a great location

  • 4 of 5

We were a party of three mature couples and we had a very good time at Litton Mill, despite two or three very wet days which were not forecast before we left home. We liked the apartment which is well equipped and provided everything we needed. Having a dishwasher is great when self-catering for 6 adults. The location was great for our trip to the Chatsworth flower show as we got there and back without any traffic issues which according to the news was not the case for many.

The central living space is great with plenty of space to spread out and beautiful views of the river and hills. The only disappointment was the huge variety in the bedrooms with one being an enormous double with a huge ensuite, the second twin room was fine and both these bedrooms had great views. The third bedroom is very small with no outside window and with a double bed in it there was no room for a wardrobe. Having a separate ensuite was useful even though it was tiny.

The location of the Litton Mill is great, just below the Monsal trail, which offers great walks. The Anglers Rest pub is about a 20-minute walk and serves good homemade food, including vegetarian options and some excellent beer. It is also very good value for money.

We have no hesitation in recommending this apartment and would stay here again (although only as a foursome with adult friends). If we bring the family this would be a great option.

A beautiful and spacious apartment

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely 3 bedroomed apartment with the old Litton Mill. Spacious and airy with high ceilings. Its beautifully furnished and extremely comfortable. The kitchen/ living room is huge. The facilities are excellent. Cutlery and cooking equipment are first rate. The wifi works well. There are books and games for entertainment in wet weather as well as a large screen TV/satellite/DVD. Everything seems to have been thought of. Plenty of lovely walks direct from the property and a pub about 20 minutes walk away

A perfect stay for a family or small group looking for a luxurious bolt hole perfectly situated in the Peak District.

I've stayed twice now and would be very happy to stay again. Highly recommended

Awesome stay at Number 6 Litton Mill

  • 5 of 5

Awesome place - very modern, incredibly spacious and furnished with love and care. There certainly hasn't been cost cutting in that respect. It is also the first holiday home that we had washing and cleaning supplies, toiletries, etc. readily supplied - very impressed. The owners clearly have exceedingly high standards. Having all the rooms en-suite is also a major bonus.

My favourite place was the cubby hole overlooking the river - amazing place to read and meditate.

I cannot fault Number 6 and we had a lovely holiday in the peak district. Just make sure you're ready for the winding and sometimes narrow roads that come as a package with the beautiful area!

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed it so much...just a few supplies left to 'get guests going' bearing in mind the quite remote nature of the property...not really toiletries, just some hand soap in the bathrooms.

Stunning apartment in a rural setting

  • 4 of 5

This apartment really has the wow factor when you first walk in. The lounge is absolutely huge, with very comfy sofas and double aspect views of the stream rushing by. The photos don't show the real scale of the place. The master bedroom has a huge comfy bed, but the third bedroom is a bit small for two people and that bathroom's access is very tight too. The property is very rural with access to beautiful walks straight from the door, including the Monsal Trail. Loads of good local pubs to eat at and not far from Chatsworth House and farm shop, which has the most delicious food. Buxton is also worth a visit. We would definitely recommend this property and would like to stay there again.

Stunning, comfortable, spacious & relaxing

  • 5 of 5

This is a fabulous apartment that feels more like a home from home than a holiday home, everything you need is there, the views & location are amazing, the bed was beyond comfortable and the open plan living was most impressive, the big comfy sofa was very difficult to get off, the sound of the water flowing outside was perfect & most relaxing, lots to see & do near by, & plenty for the more active & for those who are more laid back, the vista's in the area are stunning....a place that I would recommend without hesitation...
