About Rowena

Harbour Cottage has been run as a locally-based family business since 1968 now involving the third generation.

Rowena purchased this cottage in 1968

Why Rowena chose Minehead

In addition to being a business this was also our holiday home and we have many happy memories of the time spent here. We love the variety of West Somerset and Exmoor and the cottage is an ideal base from which to take advantage of this. We welcome dogs.

What makes this cottage unique

The harbour, the seaviews, the light, the walks.

Minehead 2017

  • 4 of 5

Overall we were pleased with the property it is far enough away from Butlins so you do not hear any noise the pub across the road is brilliant.

The property itself was fine but one or two things need sorting mainly the plumbing i.e noisy cistern and details of refuse collection very sketchy, we just put everything out and waited to see what was collected!!.

This part of Somerset is beutiful and we will definately be returning.

Owner's Response: The noisy cistern was caused by a faulty valve which has since been replaced . West Somerset Council provide a domestic rubbish and recycling collection every two weeks . This has proved to be inadequate so we are switching to a private weekly collection which should be easier for visitors .

Peaceful and lulling

  • 5 of 5

Lovely vista with boats bobbing on the tide, a great cafe nearby, as well as a welcoming pub.

Had 2 weeks in this lovely cottage. Loved listening to the tide coming and going whilst laying in bed.

The seaside town of Minehead is situated at the beginning of the popular South West Coastal Path and at the edge of the spectacular scenery of Exmoor National Park with numerous opportunities for walking, nature spotting and sightseeing.

Minehead itself has a long sandy beach, with swimming areas and opportunities for watersports. The cottage is situated at the quieter end of the seafront within walking distance of the town centre which has a good selection of shops, cafes and traditional pubs. The RNLI working lifeboat station, the traditional Old Ship Aground Pub and walking trails up to the North Hill are all situated nearby.

Medieval Dunster village and Castle, Porlock Weir and Watchet harbour are only a short drive away. Other popular local attractions include Cleeve Abbey, Tropiquaria animal park, Exmoor Owl and Hawk Centre, Wildlife Safaris, Exmoor Zoo and many more.
