About the property

Top Quality 2 bedroom cottage - sleeps 4

We are very excited about the newly converted Stables. We have used very high quality materials for this beautiful conversion from the solid oak staircase to the polished granite work surfaces in the kitchens. To make your stay as comfortable as possible, there is plenty of space to store things, and extra touches such as dishwashers, wifi and 3d TV with full Sky package (including sky sports) to make your stay a real holiday. It is decorated in a cool contemporary style with original artworks from Kinblethmont Gallery.

The joining door to the Coach House can be opened up allowing accommodation for up to 14 people across the building. A larger dining table can be setup seating 16 people for special family occasions.

We like to be green here so the Coach House and Stables are kept cosy and warm with underfloor heating downstairs and radiators upstairs - all fuelled by wood chips from Kinblethmont estate. .

The old walled garden for Kinblethmont house has been made into an amenity area for the cottages with garden games and play equipment and is a 5 minute walk via woodland paths from the cottages.

Kinblethmont is the perfect place to base yourself for a holiday at any time of year. The Stables is in the heart of the idyllic Kinblethmont Estate surrounded by woodland filled with birdsong yet are well placed for visiting many of Scotland's tourist attractions further afield .

Glamis Castle, Donnattar castle, RRS Discovery in Dundee are just a few of the sights close by. It is a haven for golfer with Letham Grange next door and the famous courses at Carnoustie, St Andrews and many other courses not far away. There are many beaches to chose from - Lunan Bay - a famous award winning natural beach is just 5 miles away. From the stables there are farm tracks and walks (or bicycle rides) through woodland or up the hill from where there are extensive views of the Angus hills and the sea.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We had a lovely week at The Stables ............. We managed to pack a lot in as usual with many stately homes visited including Glamis Castle, Scone Palace, and the House of Dun. Had a day in Dundee to visit The Discovery and the Verdant Works. Did plenty of walks including walking back from Arbroath to Kinblethmont firstly via the old railway path via St Vigeans and secondly via the coast path to Auchmithie and then through West Woods of Ethie. Also managed visits to Arbroath Abbey and the Signals Museum.Other places visited was a circular walk from Ferryden via Scourdie Lighthouse and Boddin Point, a climb up Mount Battock which was above the cloud sheet, a walk around Forfar Loch and the hill top war memorial, and brief visits to Montrose and Brechin.

Thank you making our stay at The stables so pleasant .............

Owner's Response: I am so glad these guest enjoyed their stay. When Kinblethmont Coach House and the Stables are joined together it can sleep up to 14 adults and children in 6 bedrooms. We can make a long table in the sunroom area so everyone can eat comfortably together. It is great in the colder months as whatever is happening outside, it is warm and cosy inside with the underfloor heating, and woodburning stove.

The Stables is a fantastic home from home place to stay and furnished to a very high standard. It has everything that you need.....washing machine, dryer, clothes line and pegs, fridge, freezer, lots of pots, pans and utensils, Hoover, dish washer, oven, microwave, ironing board, iron, clothes horse and cleaning equipment. We loved everything about The Stables and Kinblethmonts grounds are very impressive.

We met Jessica and Johnathan both very polite, friendly and helpful.

This was a great base for us and we travelled to different places but the boys loved to come back to their "new house" to follow the different routes around kinblethmont to the walled garden where they played on the park equipment, played football and table tennis. There is more to do there e.g. Badminton, rugby, croquet, picnic benches, barbecue area.

All in all you would not be disappointed staying here and we will certainly return without a doubt when we return to this area of Scotland.

Fantastic - Highly Recommend - We Will Return :)

First impressions of the cottage were great, we could see the Christmas tree lit up through the kitchen window and there was a beautiful wreath on the door. We were able to park right next to the entrance of the cottage so unpacking the car was a breeze. On entering the cottage there is a lovely utility area with washer/dryer (washing powder and tumble dryer sheets provided), 3 drawer freezer, coat hooks, iron and floor space for shoes and wellies. There's also a very spacious toilet with wash hand basin (1 full toilet roll & hand wash provided).

Beyond the utility area is the large open plan kitchen, dining and living area which we loved. It was brilliant for spending time together as a family without one person being locked away in a kitchen which we find on some self catering holidays. It had everything you could possibly need and more. The large cupboard under the stairs also had a clothes horse, vacuum cleaner and ironing board. There's a book case with books and cupboard under the window with children's toys which our 3yr old enjoyed playing with. The cottage as a whole is very child friendly but has all the luxurious touches adults will appreciate. We were able to borrow a stair gate and bed guard completely free of charge which were in very good condition. Upstairs are two large bedrooms and a lovely family bathroom with P-shape bath and roof window. There are complimentary toiletries, bath, hand and face towels in both bedrooms. There is also a hairdryer provided in each bedroom in the chest of drawers.

We ventured out to Glamis Castle to the Christmas Market which was a 30 minute drive away. On the way back we were able to stop off at Tesco and Aldi. Once back we were able to order a pizza from Domino's - There are a few takeaway's in the area which can deliver and also a newsagents called Arbroath Party Time which will also deliver shopping and alcohol.

On the grounds is the Walled Garden, being December we took a walk down but only expected to have a look given the weather. We were surprised to find a large box of outdoor games in very good condition so we spent a lot of time playing badminton, skittles, croquet and throwing a Frisbee. There's also a ping pong table with bats and balls. We took a small towel to dry the slide so our daughter could play on it. There's swings for both very young children through to adults!

Overall we cannot fault this place at all and we will most definitely be coming back!

Owner's Response: I am so glad these guests enjoyed their stay. We get set up for Christmas at the beginning of December and many of our guests like to come for a relaxed festive break before it all kicks off for real towards the end of the month! The walled garden is in a very sheltered spot on the estate and seems to have a climate of its own so it is well worth a visit whatever the weather. - I think I will put a towel in the toy box to dry the slide to save people bringing their own!
