About Kay Fish

Kay and Mark (Villa name Kaymar), live in Nottingham with our 2 teenage children and Tuffers the dog. We bought this villa after 2 holidays in this fantastic place. Never had a bad meal yet. Fell in love with this villa and have decorated it with taste and some lovely furnishings, if you stay, please look after them as this is our home and not a business. We hopefully plan to stay for many long trips here in the future, but until we are ready to do so, we would love for others to enjoy this great place.

We are both non smokers and would appreciate if any smokers do stay if they would smoke outside.

Staying away a lot with business we know sleeping is key, we have spent well on the beds, so you should enjoy a great nights sleep.

Kay Fish purchased this villa in 2015

Why Kay Fish chose Kalkan

Its new, decorated to a high standard. Fantastic location, away from the town, but a short walk in. Walk 8-10 minutes to the local shop, 200 meters from one of the best breakfasts you will ever get (Our house, rated highly on Tripadvisor) and at a tremendous price.

Views are fantastic, as in most places in Kalkan. You will stay in a villa with quality furnishings, purchased by us to live in, so please look after it for us.

What makes this villa unique

Lovely villa. Location is great for views of both the sea and the mountains. Being outside the town, its quiet during the day so you can relax and enjoy the sun, but close to the amenities when you need them.

This beautiful area has many hidden attractions, either stay in beautiful Kalkan and enjoy the views, the beach, marina and the many fantastic restaurants and boutique shops, or venture into the surrounding areas. Into the mountains you will see the views and the trout farms and some fantastic walking opportunities, along the coast to some fantastic beaches, including 8 kilometers of the Patara beach and the fantastic ruins. Stop in Patara for a meal for great food at less than a happy meal price!!.

Travel 30 minutes to Saklikent to see the gorge, walk through the initial ice cold river to then explore the gorge, all the way to the waterfall at the end. Finish the trip with a white water rubber ring ride, great for all ages and a meal at the many restaurants.

Take one of the many boat trips from either Kalkan or Kas, you will enjoy them all with lots to see, lovely stops for swimming and a great way to top up the tan.

Still fantastic.

Our second stay in Villa Kaymar, a wonderful villa in a great location. Quiet at night but within walking distance of the town centre...downhill...return is a taxi £2.50. Immaculately furnished and decorated inside and out. Everything you could wish for in a holiday villa.

Fantastic Villa, fantastic town

  • 5 of 5

Villa Kaymar is a fantastic villa with great views across the mountain side falling down to the old Town of Kalkan. Best thing for us was the swimming pool, which is deep enough for a shallow dive, but the less confident 5'8" swimmer can touch bottom and stand with their mouth above water. Fantastically warm in late June but with a clever shaded lounger area adjacent to relax with a drink. Plenty of poolside room for numerous sun loungers. All floors inside are marble so no worries with running in with wet feet but I wouldn't take the elderly there for fear of a fall.

Restaurants & shops in town are ace, cheap meal for 2 with wine £30, top notch 4 course blow out £75. Roof top terrace restaurants are delightful, well worth it - we dined out every night.

Villa is well equipped, we wanted for nothing.

Kay is an efficient and helpful host, good comms, Roger the local manager is unobtrusive but efficient and is an English ex-pat so no problem with language. 60% of Kalkan folk speak good English and are very helpful and friendly.

Thursday market is a laugh, halfway along on the left there's a hotel with a nice terrace bar for very necessary cold drinks and toilets.

If you go, please feed Lucifer the little black kitten who lives in the flower beds, he sat on my wife's lap and made her day. A very faithful companion!

Look no further.

Make no mistake, this is an exceptional villa. Very modern, almost brand new, furnished inside and out to a very high standard, spotlessly clean, with every amenity one could wish for and in a quiet location yet only a very short walk from the centre.

It has a lovely "infinity" pool, a selection of areas for outdoor meals/drinks/relaxing, including one on the large balcony/patio outside the upper double bedroom which is particularly nice for evening drinks overlooking the lights of the town. All have quality furnishing.

The villa is set quite high, up the hill out of town but under the main Kas road. It is a short, easy walk into the town centre and a three minute 8TL taxi ride back when your night is over.

There is aircon in all bedrooms and the lounge.

The pool is spotless and cleaned every morning, as is all the outdoor area.

Booking etc was extremely quick and easy, Kay is really on the ball.Breakage deposit was refunded into our bank within minutes of our arrival home.

The property agent called round on our first morning and was at great pains to reassure us that he was always available should we need anything or should anything misfunction...nothing did.

I would most certainly recommend this villa to anyone wishing a great relaxing stress free time in Kalkan.

we were a party of two couples so we had acres of space, the villa accommodates at least six, we didn't use the third bedroom. The bedrooms we did use had ensuite bathrooms, ours had possibly the best shower I've been in for many years.

If anything, the photographs on the website do not do this villa justice.

Ian Lister.

A fantastic villa and a great town

  • 5 of 5

I would recommend this villa to anybody who wants to stay in Kalkan. It is quiet, superbly decorated and comfy, with a great pool area. There is AC in all of the main rooms but we only really needed them at night as we spent all of our time either enjoying Kalkan / Turkey, in the pool, playing table tennis or enjoying the warmth (but shade) in the covered patio area.

Everything you could wish for is there. Great views, BBQ, washing machine, very reliable wi-fi, a massive TV with a loud bluetooth sound bar (didn’t watch the telly mind, but the kids loved the bluetooth), loads of sun beds and sofas, a massive amount of wardrobe space in all rooms, plus the usually overlooked coat hangers!

It is a 20-minute walk to the seafront, but it is not a drag as you go through the town on the way. There are loads of restaurants within 10-minutes’ walk, including 'Our Home' within 5. You have to try the breakfast there, only 30 lira each and you won’t need lunch. The main supermarket (Migros) is less than 10-minutes’ walk away but there is one (Bim) even closer. To get home, a taxi from the sea front is only 8 lira (£2) so even if you don't fancy the walk back up the hill, it is not going to break the bank coming home.

The local restauranteurs all came out to try and get you to eat with them, but none of them were pushy at all, very polite and eager to please. This surprised me the most as the tourist numbers were down due to the fear of going to Turkey. Ignore the fear, it is a magical place and we didn’t feel one threat to our safety. In fact, I felt safer than a night out in my home town on a Saturday night. We have three kids and the two best holidays we have had with them have been in this country. Back to the restaurants, we didn’t have one bad meal and could have returned to any of them again.

At night the teenage kids had options to go into the three main clubs, but as they didn’t get going until 12.30am, they only went a couple of times, preferring to relax in the sun rather than spending all day in bed recovering. If your kids are after a Magaluf style party holiday then this is the wrong place, but if they just want a few nights out then there is plenty for them to do.

Locally, it is close to Kas (very vibrant at night), Sakklikant Gorge, the mountains where a drive gives great views, and the beaches. We hired a car for the time in Turkey at the airport which made getting around very easy. Stopping on the way back from Kas afforded us a pitch black sky with
