Ground floor lovely warehouse conversion apartment in three storey red brick building with private parking. Stockbridge, Edinburgh. Unique space to spend a holiday or business trip. In the heart of Stockbridge, yet tucked quietly behind all the hustle and bustle of a vibrant city centre location. A lovely conversion to modern living flats. Private patio. 10mins walk to centre. Double bed + double sofa bed (in lounge) to sleep up to 4. With the high ceilings and very large doors/windows it makes this flat very bright and airy. Gated secure courtyard. From £100 low to £200 high.

We try to allow guests as early an entry time as we can, which is from 3pm in the afternoon. To do this we must ask that you leave by 10.30am in the morning on the day of departure - this allows our cleaners to come in by 11 am and make the apartment clean and homely for arrivals. If we can accommodate changes to these times, we will do so, but will tend to be last minute depending on bookings.

About Mike Hislop

Mike and Doreen Hislop have lived in Edinburgh all our lives, and are very proud of our city. Nearing retirement we have bought Patriothall for what eventually will be our Edinburgh base, as we plan to retire to the west coast of Scotland.

We have 3 daughters and 3 grandchildren all living in Edinburgh. We stay only 10 minutes from the apartment so are always on hand for any issues or just advice.

Why Mike Hislop chose Stockbridge

When we were looking for a property, we wanted something just a bit 'different', and when this apartment came up for sale we just snapped it up.

There is a lot of history, as it was built around 1900 for the Cooperative Society, and was used as their stables and workshops, where all the milk carts left for their daily rounds - hence the very unusual cobbled stoned courtyard, which is now the secure car park for the building.

The property is a listed building, and was converted into very tasteful apartments, in the 1980's.

What we loved was obviously the inside of the apartment, with its large industrial windows and light. But probably most, was the lovely patio area at the back and the free secure parking - in the centre of Edinburgh, both are like gold-dust!!

  • A very nice spacious bathroom with a bath and a shower over bath facility. Lots of space and outside light makes this a very pleasant retreat after a hard day of sightseeing!

Excellent Edinburgh Escape Experience

Wonderful rental in a very up and coming part of the "real Edinburgh." Away from the crush and commercialism of Princess Street but very accessible by bus to all the usual tourist spots. Located in a real neighborhood filled with great coffee shops, restaurants, smallish interesting stores, pubs with local drinks and live music spilling out on to the streets busy with family life. Great stay. Thank you.

A comfortable stay in a great location

A really comfortable and well maintained property which was ideal for our trip to the Edinburgh fringe festival. We could walk to everything and despite being so near the centre of town it was in a really quiet area.

Quiet, convenient base for the Fringe

Lovely apartment in a quiet residential area but very convenient to the center. We spent three days at the Fringe, and the apartment was an easy 15-30 minute walk to most venues. It was nice to come back and escape the crowds, too. Mike was very accommodating and easy to work with. Great place!

Would HIGHLY Recommend!

Patriothall was the perfect ground floor location for our visit to Scotland! My mom and I could not have asked for a better place to stay. The location was very central to the center of town if you chose to walk, but also a bus stop was very close as well. Very quick walk to the Royal Botanic Gardens--which was great! Mike was very easy to communicate with and answered all of our questions before and during our visit. Our flight arrived in Edinburgh at 7:50am on the day we arrived--and we were able to check-in to the flat well before the 3pm check in time. This was greatly appreciated!!!

I slept on the pull-out sofa bed--and it was the nicest sofa bed I have ever slept on! During our 10 day stay--we took a 2 night/3 day trip to the Isle Of Skye. We left the bulk of our luggage behind at Patriothall. It was comforting knowing that our belongings were safe and secure while we were on our bus-trip. We were also able to pack less as a whole knowing we had a washing machine available to us in the flat. Should we ever make our way back across the "pond" to Scotland--this will be the first place we consider staying!

A wonderful, central apartment in Edinburgh!

We loved our stay at Patriothall in Edinburgh!

The apartment was clean, bright, quiet and the decor was very nice. We also really appreciated the light blackout curtains! In June, the sun sets very late at night and is up very early in the morning.

Mike had a really helpful binder full of great information on how to work the appliances, the furnace etc. (love that "heat boost " thing, I have never seen that on furnaces here in Canada).

The bed was very comfy and so was the pull out couch (easy to work too).

I have mobility problems and so really appreciated that the apartment was on the ground floor, easy to get in and out of.

The apartment is located in a great area. There are loads of restaurants around it, a wonderful farmers market and there are many bus stops around that take you anywhere in Edinburgh and over to Leith.

Mike was very nice and always available to answer questions.

Edinburgh was made even better by having a comfortable, beautiful and carefree place to relax in after a long day sightseeing!
