About the property

3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 2 reception rooms, kitchen opens onto large garden

This lovely spacious family home is situated in a quiet area of Stoke Newington. It has a large secluded garden but is also within easy reach of Stoke Newington Church Street with its up-market bars and restaurants.

The house has 2 main floors with 2 mezzanines.

Ground floor: Two large reception rooms - a large sitting room and a large music room with grand piano. The kitchen dining area opening out onto a large patio and mature garden.

First mezzanine: Good size double bedroom and a separate WC with hand basin.

First main floor: Large master bedroom and a large bathroom with bath & separate shower cubicle. (There is a fourth bedroom, used for owners’ storage-unavailable)

The second mezzanine: Small double bedroom with a separate bathroom & WC.

All rooms except for the music room look out onto the lovely garden. The house has the advantage of off street parking.

Stoke Newington has attracted artists and liberals over the centuries. The Non-conformists Daniel Defoe and Mary Wollstonecraft both lived here for many years and set up the culture that is a part of Stoke Newington today. The area also has many independent shops, bars, and restaurants in Church Street making the area an unusual place to explore and spend time. Green spaces and large parks are within easy reach. There is a playground round the corner from our house on Stoke Newington common - a bonus if you’re desperate for your children to let off steam! The station is a 7 minute walk away and takes you into central London in 15 minutes. There are numerous bus stops nearby which will take you anywhere, and if you want to really get to know London relaxing on the top deck of a bus is the most pleasurable way to travel. Sadler Wells, The Thames, St Paul’s Cathedral, The Globe, and West End theatres - it’s all there waiting for you to experience. The house is spacious, quiet and uncluttered, decorated to compliment the original victorian features. The high ceilings give it a restful atmosphere. After a day sightseeing you can relax in the garden, have a BBQ or go out locally to the many local restaurants. The corner shop - 1 minute away - is brilliant and there is Whole Foods, an independent butcher and vegetable shop 5 minutes away. Morrisons Supermarket - 10 min walk or 3 minute drive away. Come and enjoy, absorb London and relax in the village atmosphere of Stoke Newington.

Lovely Spacious Victorian Family Home within easy reach of central London

Stunning period property with a quintessentially English feel

  • 5 of 5

An oasis of calm amid the enticing bustle of suburban London, we loved this house. It was the perfect base for exploring London and, with the capital's excellent public transport links, all the major attractions are a fairly short ride away. However, it was equally as good to stay close to home and explore the multi-cultural Stoke Newington high street and the intriguing local wonders (Abney Park Cemetery and the Stirling Prize nominee on nearby Barrett's Grove, for example). Roy and Sarah had provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay and we'd certainly consider booking again if we wanted a London bolthole.

Great House in welcoming neighborhood with Easy access to Central London

  • 5 of 5

We greatly enjoyed our stay in Roy and Sarah's Stoke Newington house. The house itself was well appointed, full of light, clean, and offered more than enough space for two adults and two teenagers. In addition, the house was filled with books, music, recipes, and contained an absolutely beautiful and secluded garden/patio area that was the perfect spot for morning coffee or an end of day adult beverage. After long days of touring central London it really felt like we were returning "home". Although the property offers off-street parking, a car is really not necessary due to the abundance of transportation options... both efficient (overground station within five minute walk and a fifteen minute train ride to Liverpool Street Underground Station) as well as more leisurely (several bus lines.. top deck of double decker bus is a very economical way to sight see!). Stoke Newington is a very diverse and vibrant area of north London, and we enjoyed some of the local restaurants, shops, and pubs in addition to the standard sights of Central London. As the description states, the house is located on a very quiet street but still easy walking distance to all of the action. All in all, we are grateful to Roy and Sarah for sharing their home with us and making us feel welcome during our first trip to London. We would definitely stay here again if and when we are able to return to this great city!

We were VERY PLEASED with this home. The availability to public transportation was extremely easy. The owners were very accommodating. Having been in several VRBO homes we found this and all of them to be very nice. The owners could not be at the home to get us in but they had arranged for a neighbor to meet us and go over the house 'rules'. It was a very good experience for our first London visit. I would HIGHLY recommend this home to anyone that has a family that wants to spend time in England. I was GREATLY pleased that this home has 3 LARGE beds. The home itself is very clean and tidy and the owners stocked the pantry / refrigerator with the essentials so that when we arrived later, there was something there to 'hold' us over until we could get to a grocery store. I would HIGHLY recommend this home for any family that wants to spend the week / weekend in the London area. The listing was exactly what was stated on the website so we got for what we paid. It was a VERY PLEASURABLE time.

Owner's Response: We're so glad you had such a good & comfortable time, and that you found the transport very easy. It was a shame not to meet you, as our neighbour said you were very friendly! Thank you for stripping the beds and putting the sheets and towels in the kitchen. A great help!

Belle maison victorienne à proximité du centre de Londres

  • 5 of 5
