Great location in a beautiful house

  • 5 of 5

Lovely house, great location. Just a short walk to the beach, 5 minute drive to Freshwater and amazing views from the garden - beautiful. First time we have stayed anywhere and there was no welcome pint of milk or scones and cake waiting - obviously no problem but it is always a very welcome touch. The house is equipped with everything you could need, a real home away from home, we loved it.

Owner's Response: Thank you of your review. We did used to leave a welcome pack but a lot of it seemed to be wasted & thrown away. We will review this for next summer!

Good family house

  • 4 of 5

This is a roomy old house with a lot of garden, set back from the road in a good position, an easy walk from the dog-friendly beach. The downstairs living areas are spacious, if rather whackily furnished and decorated. There are plenty of books and games. The kitchen is very well equipped with good crockery and ample gadgets of all kinds. Upstairs the main bedroom is very spacious and the others, including the attic room, are fine. We all found the beds comfortable. We had an issue with a misunderstanding about how many beds we needed made up which was resolved immediately. The shower room is excellent and there are enough loos. We had a problem with garbage outside, which hadn't been removed on the change-over day from the previous tenants' stay. This was not resolved despite our asking about it, but was not a major issue; we took recycling to public bins when we could.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. I am sorry about the re-cycling issue. The council have recently started collecting refuse and recycling on alternate weeks. We are currently trying to find a private refuse company to collect every week. Apologies that this wasn't in place for your stay. We're glad that you had a good time anyway.

Gorgeous, spacious and well-maintained period property in a lovely spot

  • 5 of 5

The photos don't do this house justice - it's even nicer in real life. The interior is stylish and quirky, and all of the honewares are great quality, which makes for a very comfortable stay. We were two families, 7 people in total, and there was ample space for us all. Sea views from the master bedroom. The garden is beautiful too, and the location is perfect. It's on the quieter and prettier side of the island but still handy for everything. The owner was extremely helpful and quick to respond to any questions that we had. We really enjoyed our stay.

Excellent location for a holiday.

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful house steeped in a fascinating history. Very well equipped with homely touches and style, we found everything required. The weather enabled us to make use of the extensive garden, BBQ and Summer House which housed numerous pieces of equipment for our trips to the beach. A varied selection of board games gave lengthy evening entertainment for all. Everything has been thought through to make this a perfect choice of house for an extended family holiday as we were.

Lovely house, fantastic garden and amazing location

  • 5 of 5

A lovely house which had all the things you would want for an extended stay. We were blessed with pretty good weather so the large garden was well utilised. Plenty of seating and space, although a BBQ was lacking (I understand this was a temporary thing). The best thing was the location, a 5 minute walk to Brook beach, 20 minute walk to Compton bay and a 15 minute walk to the local pub in Hulverstone as well as being very close to the main road on the south-west of the Island.

The owner replied to any questions and queries, very quickly. Would recommend.
