About the property

Snowy Owl Lodge is a detached converted barn providing luxury accommodation in the heart of the North York Moors. Our cottage sits in 12 acres of land and is part of Duks Ley Farm with stunning views and spectacular wildlife calling at the various ponds. A winter visitor, the rare 'snowy owl' inspired the name of our beautiful holiday home. This area is ideal for walking, cycling, bird watching, photography and artists or just for a wonderful restful break.

With the highest standard of comfort throughout we have tried to consider every need with linen from the White Company and Molton and Brown toiletries. A fully fitted kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine leading you into the cosy lounge area with stone flagged floors, warm rugs and large leather sofa. The large double bedroom on the first floor has a supremely comfortable king size bed and en suite bathroom with separate bath and walk in shower. A TV and iPod docking station are provided with ample games, films and books to help you relax and enjoy the setting. Underfloor heating ensures a cosy welcome at any time of year and Pepe garden furniture is ready to enjoy dining outdoors. There is no light pollution at Snowy Owl and an evening star gazing is a romantic end to a perfect day.

The surrounding forest provides a winter wonderland for Christmas breaks and a special "Betty's hamper is provided. The Spring brings glorious displays of bulbs, the Autumn golden shades of the woodland and the Summer lilies in the ponds and wild flowers in the fields. Picnic baskets can be provided for a nominal sum.

Horse riding is available nearby on the many bridle paths with easy walks to the beautiful village of Rosedale. The market towns of Helmsley and Pickering are a 20 minute drive with wonderful delis, gift shops, castles and steam railway. Try an afternoon tea at the famous Black Swan. The coast at Whitby is a short drive across the moor (award winning fish and chips at the Magpie) and Scarborough with its seaside attractions is close by. Our welcoming local Hartoft Country inn less then two miles away.

A trip to York for its extensive shopping along cobbled streets and visits to the Minster, York Theatre Royal and the Jorvik Viking Centre are highly recommended.

Enjoy a celebration at the Michelin Star Inn at Harome famous for its local Yorkshire delicacies.

Champagne and flowers can be ordered on request. Come for a complete break from the norm with total peace and quiet in our very special cottage.

Very nice cottage on a quiet spot with a spectacular view!

  • 5 of 5

Cottage is on a quiet spot wth a view on the Woods and the moors. In the morning you can see deer in the fields.

The cottage is very comfortable and very clean. The owners respect your privacy. If you are with two and you want to combine comfort with nature, than is this cottage ideal.
