About the property

5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms are available for 10 people to use.

The house has three terraces; you have the option all day long whether to follow the sun or to sit in the shadow. Around the house, there is a fenced lawn/play area, and at the front a natural field with flowers. The backyard offers a heated pool (up to a maximum of 20 degrees). We built a tree house in the old oak tree aside the terrace, so the children can create their own world at home! What you experience here is 'living like God in France' (the Dutch equivalent for 'living the life of Riley') for a while.

About Frans and Nia van Helvoirt

We grew up in Brabant, close to the Belgian border, and both at a farm. I was a teacher for 20 years and after that, we had a horticultural company for 15 years. Now, we have been living in France for 15 years and we enjoy the still present nature a lot (with overflying common cranes, for example). There is a large international community where we live: we hike together, sing in a choir, take French classes, and we meet up at the markets. Since a couple of years, we have a second house in Diessen: this is why we offer our house in France for renting in summer. Besides a rich nature, the region offers a large cultural and historical heritage. Part of the latter are the three-bastide towns of Villeréal, Monflanquin and Monpazier. We are located amid them.

Why Frans and Nia van Helvoirt chose Dévillac

Long story short: living the life of Riley when lying alongside or floating inside our swimming pool. In Villeréal (6 km away), all amenities are available: a GP and dentist office, a supermarket, garages, banks, and a much-frequented local Sunday market. The much-attended Monday night summer evening market is another event: among hundreds of tourists and locals, you can enjoy the local products offered to you on site: try some tasty Blonde d'Aquitaine meat, or the best Bergerac wines of your choice. Alternatively, maybe you just feel like staying at home for a day, reading a good book underneath the centuries-old oak tree, while your children play in the swimming pool or tree house.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

Our region has all tourist amenities, though it is not yet as crowded as, for example, the French Riviera or the Dordogne region. The place still breathes the French rural atmosphere of 2 generations ago, something we know from our youth in Brabant. Here, you can still go shopping or go to the petrol station without ending up in a traffic jam. In addition, for people who prefer not to drive in the high season: Bergerac airport is just 30 km away. If necessary, we can pick you up and bring you back.
