Brabourne Cottage is believed to date from c1720. Located in the conservation village of Brabourne and across the village green from The Kent Life, Kent Pub of the Year http://fivebellsinnbrabourne.com/ The cottage is close to the North Downs area of outstanding natural beauty. This grade II listed cottage is ideal for walks, pubs, cycling and exploring Kent and the coast. France via the Channel Tunnel (15 minute drive) and London via the high speed rail link (35 minutes from Ashford International) are within easy reach. The Cottage is dog friendly with oak floors and tiled kitchen. With an open inglenook fire and 2 log burning stoves as well as oil fired central heating the cottage is ideal for any season. If you are after a cosy country break in a unique cottage with all mod cons and lots to do and explore then look no further. The Cottage is available for a two day minimum hire .

About The Owner

Hi,we are Clive and Gina we are the owners of Brabourne cottage. We fell in love with grade 2 listed, Brabourne Cottage, which is packed with original features. We always wanted to live in a village with a green and a good pub in walking distance. We hit the jackpot with the Five Bells Inn opposite and the Tiger 1 mile up the road!

We hope you enjoy the peace and tranquility of the ancient conservation village of Brabourne as much as we do. There are fantastic walks, pubs and the coast and channel tunnel are within 15 minutes drive from the cottage.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 2015

Why The Owner chose East Brabourne

Lovely quiet rural location with great dog walks, cycling and pubs. Despite this the Cottage is only 15 minutes from the M20 and 20 Mins from Ashford International Station or the Channel Tunnel for London or France. Also 15 minutes from the nearest beach Hythe (pebbles), and 30 mins from st Marys Bay and Camber Sands (Sandy beaches) by car.

What makes this cottage unique

Cosy, historic cottage with open fires and beams but with all mod cons. Rural but without total isolation and a 30 second walk to the pub! Oil fired central heating and open fires means its cosy for any season. Brand new bathrooms fitted throughout the cottage in 2013. Brand new country style kitchen fitted in 2014 with American Fridge/freezer, electric range cooker and intergrated dishwasher. Brabourne Cottage is dog friendly with wood and tiled floors throughout the ground floor.

Rambling - In the cottage information file the owners provide a series of laminated satellite maps with written directions for country lane, byway and footpath rambling routes. The cards can be taken with you on your ramble and then returned to the file for other guests to enjoy. Routes range in distance from 1.5 miles to 30 miles approx

Cycling - In the cottage information file the owners provide a series of laminated satellite maps with written directions for country lane and byway cycling routes. The cards can be taken with you on your ride and then returned to the file for other guests to enjoy. Cycle routes range in distance from 4.25 miles to 30 miles approx.

If Rambling or Cycling are your thing bring your gear/bikes etc. This part of Kent is heaven for these activities. From quiet flat country lanes to coastal routes to challenging hilly routes across the North Downs there will be a route to satisfy all abilities or borrow the OS maps and make up your own!

Coast/Beach:

Hythe Beach 7.5 miles approx 15 mins by car, pebbles. St Marys Bay and Camber Sands sandy beaches approx 25 mins by Car.

Travel:

Nearest International Airport London Gatwick (1 hour 15 mins drive), Ashford International Station (20 Mins drive), Channel Tunnel (15 Mins drive).

Directions; By Car; leave M20 at Junction 10 and follow sign for Smeeth/Hythe on A20, Just after Blue and White Cafe take left turn to Smeeth. At end of road turn left 100M to Woolpack Inn Pub, turn right and take 2nd left Canterbury Road. Brabourne Cottage is approx 1 mile opposite the 5 Bells Inn Pub.

Approx - Wye 4 miles, Hythe 7 miles, Ashford 6 miles, Canterbury 11 miles, Rye 20 miles. Channel Tunnel 12 Miles (15 Mins by car), Lydd airport 30 Mins, Gatwick 1 hr 15 mins, Heathrow Approx 2 hours.

Further Details:

Narest Shop the Spar in Brabourne Lees (small Supermarket), 5 Mins drive. Tesco at Junction 10 of M20 approx 15 mins drive, this is also the nearest fuel station. Great food at 5 Bells Inn opposite cottage (fivebellsinnbrabourne.com), The Tiger Inn Stowting, The Black Horse in Monks Horton and Timberbatts in Bodsham. Also great seafood restaurant at Folkestone Harbour called Rocksalt. Great pubs and restaurants in Wye and Canterbury too. Lovely location, immaculate house, warm welcome

The house was perfect for 10 of us (adults) and dog. We were welcomed on the Friday evening by Mina with a helpful tour. The 5 Bells opposite is a great pub, as is the Tiger Inn, which we walked to on the Saturday in glorious sunshine. There are many excellent walks, with itineraries helpfully contained in the house file.

The house was extremely comfortable, beautifully furnished and well equipped. A great and memorable weekend family break in an idyllic location. Clive was very helpful in answering all questions prior to the visit.

Fantastic property in an ideal location for a large group getaway of all ages (including the dogs!)

We stayed for the early May bank holiday weekend on our annual family getaway with parents, grandparents, children and dogs. The cottage is excellent and finished to a very high standard with all the amenities you would need, including a hair dryer. The 5 Bells pub opposite is welcoming and friendly with a varied range of food and drink. Overall a lovely weekend and I would highly recommend.

A wonderful, comfortable stay in the cottage.

We had a great time, staying at the lovely cottage which was very comfortable, clean, well furnished, each room had its character and charm. Its very spacious, there was 6 of us, but easily 10 can stay. It had everything, didn't need to bring, sugar, teabags, toiletries. The cottage is just by yellow fields, and greenery, and a lovely pub across the cottage. If you like walking there are many routes to choose from. We had nice weather too, no rain :).

The owner, was really helpful and made us feel welcome, answered any questions we had.

I would go there again for sure.

Joining instructions will be sent in advance. Where possible, owner will be available for questions throughout your stay.

Changeover Day:
Saturday is the changeover day in 4pm/out 10am weekly bookings but could be flexible by arrangement with the owners. Short stay (long weekends) Thu/Fri-Sun/Mon, Check in 4pm Thu/Fri, Check out 10 am Sun/Mon, again flexible by arrangement with owners.

Notes on prices:
Usually 7 nights minimum stay at £1250 off peak and £1500 to £1750 at peak times. Long weekends are available (2, 3 or 4 nights) by separate arrangement with the owners at £250-400/night.   • 50% refund for cancellations more than 7 days before check-in date.
