About this property

Bright, airy house with large garden near the beach

Araul, the house name, means "sunny spot" in Welsh and you can enjoy the famous Llýn micro climate in the large garden and outdoor spaces or relax in the comfortable interior.

This detached 3 bedroom holiday home is fitted out for couples, families or small groups of friends as a base for exploring the fantastic coastline and countryside on your doorstep, not to mention the stunning Nefyn Golf Course nearby. The house can accommodate a maximum of 6 adults plus 2 children but you will have more space if there are fewer of you. We allow a maximum of two well behaved dogs per stay (small charge applies and no cats). Changeover day at peak times is usually Friday or Saturday but sometimes we can be flexible. Please contact me with your request and I can let you know what is possible.

During mid-May to Aug (tides permitting) guests can make use of a beach hut on Nefyn beach which is fully kitted out with picnic equipment, gas stove and deckchairs etc. It is a lovely place to watch the world go by and makes life easier by not having to carry lots down to the beach. This feature is not guaranteed as we rent the plot and sometimes it is not available due to circumstances outside our control.

We bought the house in 2015 and have invested lots of energy in making it the kind of home we would like to spend our holidays in too. We have tried to make Araul a place where you can relax and make use of all our facilities, including Fibre Broadband, Satellite TV and gas central heating.

Downstairs
There is a large lounge with seating for 8 guests and a TV with Sky and a DVD player and for colder days an electric stove heater makes it really cosy.
The kitchen-diner has a large dining table and seating for 8. There is an electric oven and hob, a dishwasher, fridge/freezer washing machine and microwave, along with the usual kitchen items such as toaster, kettle, blender and sandwich maker. There is also a TV in the kitchen.

There is a washing machine in the kitchen and a tumble dryer in the garage plus a spare fridge/freezer in case you need the extra room.

Bedrooms
One of the 3 bedrooms is downstairs making it suitable for those with mobility issues. This bedroom has a double bed, drawers, built in wardrobes and a TV. It is supplemented by en suite bathroom, comprising a toilet, wash basin and walk-in shower cubicle.

The two other bedrooms are upstairs. One has twin beds and built in wardrobe storage. The other can be flexibly arranged to sleep up to 2 adults and 2 children - the children in bunk beds (shortie) and two others in guest beds that can be pushed together to form a double or separated to form two twins. In this third bedroom there is also plenty of drawer space and a wardrobe.

Pillows, duvets and sheets are provided as well as hand towels and tea towels - all you need is to bring your own bath and beach towels!

Upstairs is also a family bathroom, tastefully decorated in blue and white with a shower over bath.

Outside
There is a large driveway, with safe off road parking for 2-3 cars behind the gates. The large lawned garden at the rear benefits from almost continuous sun on a bright day. There is plenty of seating and a table, allowing you to choose to eat outside if the weather is good or just step out to enjoy some fresh air and a morning coffee. We have added a cute little summerhouse at the bottom of the garden which you are welcome to use.

There is a lockable store which you use for bikes, golf clubs etc.
We have some traditional board games for you to use and maps and books about the local area. There is also some children's toys and beach accessories such as buckets and spades. You are welcome to also make use of our deck chairs and windshield if you want to take a short walk (only 5 mins) down to the beach.

There is a travel cot and high chair available at no extra cost.
Note - this is a non-smoking property.
Check in usually 4pm and check out 10 am but sometimes we can be flexible depending on other bookings.

Nefyn North Wales
Had a lovely stay our first time in Nefyn. Lovely beach just come out of the front door turn left. Then left again and you are on the very shorty path to the beach. Lovely coastal walks too and a short drive (25 mins) to Abersoch.

Great for families!
We had a very comfortable stay at the cottage. The owners are clearly working hard at updating the property, and it's in a fantastic location. Very good for young families.

About the host

Host profile image
My husband, Grant and I have owned a holiday let in Nefyn for over 14 years and purchased Araul in 2015 as a new venture to rent out. We love the Llyn Peninsula and have spent many happy days exploring or just relaxing in the fantastic surroundings. We live in Liverpool and have family in Nefyn so are regular visitors for pleasure and to check that everything is well-maintained at the house.

Why they chose this property

I holidayed on the Llyn as a child and carried on coming as a young adult, making friends in the area. I have been bringing my own children to the area since they were babies and they too have made friends. I love that it is relatively unchanged with a unique charm. On a sunny day I wouldn't be anywhere else in the world!
Araul has a lovely light atmosphere and is laid out in a way which allows you to gather together as a group or have some quiet time. We hope you get chance to enjoy both the house and scenery and appreciate the lovely Llyn as we do.

What makes this property unique

The large garden with lots of seating to allow you to follow the sun plus the cute little summerhouse for you to enjoy!
Use of an "in demand" beach hut when you book during the Summer (subject to availability)
