Half term break
This property is a real gem. We really appreciated the attention to detail in making this stay special. The property itself is beautiful and spacious with lovely views. The wood burner made the autumn stay so homely and a treat to come back to at the end of the day. The girls loved the piano ( a little tuning would make it even better), the games and fantastic large TV. The kitchen had everything needed and more we particularly appreciated the slow cooker. The welcome packages and fresh flowers made us feel very welcome.

About the host

Born in Dundee but spent my teens in Fife before spending a few years on the West Coast of Scotland before settling to buy Windrush now 21 years ago . My 4 children were all born here and enjoyed the open countryside along with a menagerie of animals like ponies , chickens , dog and cats ....with the two eldest girls fleeing the nest ( though just to St.Andrews University!) the two boys are very much into their outdoor sports and football trick shots. Sharing Windrush with just our friendly cats now along with the abundant wildlife we are blessed to enjoy ...buzzards, red deer , pheasants .......
Living just next door in the farmhouse I am on hand to welcome you here as well as deal with any issues right away ...though the Holiday cottage is not overlooked and is completely private.

Why they chose this property

If you are looking for a stay in a spacious Scottish high quality traditional home with a modern twist with all modern conveniences the Windrush is the place to relax and feel at home. With so much to enjoy right here , wildlife, recreational area, large garden , walks , cycling etc you may not feel like venturing further . But , given that St. Andrews is a mere 10 mins drive away with the Golf , beautiful award winning beaches , restaurants and boutique shops there is always an excuse to go out . Plenty children's activities in nearby towns . Historical towns and fishing villages .... something for everyone .

What makes this property unique

The sheer tranquility and privacy is a major factor in our decision to stay here . The blackest of skies enables fantastic star gazing . In an enviable position ,the open fields around us paint a beautiful landscape view away from the hub of busy lives and allow for some freedom in our recreational area for guests to practice their golf swing ( plans are under way to transform the area into a 3 hole course ) or grab a football and have a kick around with the kids , safe knowing they are not near a road . Best of all is that we can have the best of both worlds as Windrush is not far from the local villages , towns and even major cities to enjoy all that they offer too.
