About the property

Rural remedy in the grounds of historic old vicarage in the heart of tranquil Little Tew. The Hayloft is the first of three luxury, private and comfortable conversions of 17th century farm buildings in the grounds of a house which has been in the same family for nearly a century; providing spacious accommodation for two to use as a base for lazing or exploring.

A private entrance leads to stairs up to the spacious first floor lateral living space, neutrally decorated with the original 17th century beams.

Cook in the well equipped kitchen with some carefully selected recipe books, then collapse on the comfortable sofa and enjoy views over the walled garden and cosy up in front of the woodburner with logs sourced from the property.

Or simply have a well deserved rest in the super king size bed with white cotton sheets in the luxurious separate bedroom with ensuite bathroom.

Wonderful and even better than anticipated!

When can we return? That was the question foremost in our minds when we left this idyllic location. I cannot recommend this getaway enough. We stayed for 3 nights and could not have been happier. The property and hayloft were gorgeous, beautifully appointed and immaculately clean. Mark and his wife were welcoming and provided us with wonderful welcome items like foods for breakfast and fresh flowers. The hayloft was light, airy, gorgeously decorated and truly comfortable. The quiet location was perfectly situated for both exploring neighboring villages and for relaxing evenings spent sitting by the wood fire and garden window. We would love to return someday.

The hayloft is a beautifully restored property in an idyllic location.

A stunning place to stay, beautifully restored. The location is idyllic, quiet and perfect for a relaxing and romantic getaway. We were particularly impressed by the attention to detail e.g. Bottles of wine on arrival and things to make a hearty breakfast the following morning. It is a quiet location and although there is a pub in the next village (about 20 minutes walk) the accomodation is so beautiful we preferred to stay for cosy evenings in. The owner Mark is attentive without being intrusive; at the time of our stay work was being carried out in the adjoining building but we hardly noticed. We would thoroughly recommend this property and will definitely be returning.

Outstanding for decor, situation, walled garden, helpful owner

Excellent accommodation in Little Tew, a quiet rural village in the Cotswolds. Oxford only 25 minutes by car; guided tour around college area and walk in Christchurch Meadow. Strolls around Little Tew itself and visit to Great Tew, especially St Michael's Church. Evening meal in The Crown, Church Enstone, very short car drive away.

quaint, cute

we stayed here for 5 nights and found it to be delightfull. the atmosphere of the property fits right in with being in the cotswolds. a small english village with gardens and fine homes. the apartment is spacious with a small wood burning stove, and views of a well manicured english gardens. the owner provided a couple bottles of wine and some vegetables from the garden. the apartment has two baths one with a shower the other with a bathtub. we would stay here again in a minute. I'd give it 5 stars. a gps is advised to find the apartment

Beautiful and immaculate cottage

The Hayloft is a fantastic property, decorated beautifully and to a very high standard. It had absolutely everything you would need and more, the fire was already prepared and there was a box of matches left for us, the barbecue was ready with a fresh bag of coal inside, the owners had left us a full basket of home grown vegetables and some breakfast food in the fridge and they have books and this month's magazines out for guests to read.

The cottage is in a great location and there is lots to see nearby. The owners were great at answering any questions both before and during our stay.

We would recommend this cottage to anyone and will definitely return again in the future.

Antiques

If you want to buy some check out Station Mill Antiques in Chipping Norton (Station Rd, Chipping Norton, OX7 5HX) or the The Old Flighthouse, Weston on the Green, OX25 3TJ)

Ashes

If, which we hope you have, been enjoying the wood burner and you're a bit overrun with ashes, please empty the ash pan into some newspaper, roll up and leave outside the door and someone will dispose of them. Please ensure ashes are completely cold before doing so.

Banbury

Ride a cock horse, etc, whilst not as scenic as Oxford or Witney, Banbury still has it’s uses with some high street basics (M & S, Gap, H & M, Debenhams) albeit in a shopping centre which has slightly sucked the life out of the what was once a picturesque town centre. It has a decent Sainsbury’s which has become our supermarket of choice. Generally it’s much less hassle and very quick to get to compared to the aforementioned. Also good train services

Bathroom rooflight

If you wish to get some air into the bathroom, you can open the rooflight using the radio control situated to the left of the loo in the bathroom. Using the top button you will see up and down arrows to open or close the window accordingly. No need to point at the rooflight as it's radio controlled rather than remote.

Check in is at 4pm, check out at 11am. If you could message us via Airbnb to let us know you have vacated it would be much appreciated to avoid any embarrassing walk-ins. Please understand that we have to organise housekeeping and if there is another guest booked before or after your stay we may be limited for time to prepare. Please leave the key on the outside of the door on departure, unless otherwise instructed. There may be an opportunity to have a later check in/out, but this can only be confirmed on the day, dependent on outgoing/incoming guests and housekeeping.

Chipping Norton

Perhaps a little disappointing considering its notoriety, but Chippy, as it’s known, is the go to place for local basics. A Co-Op and a small Sainsbury’s for supermarket shopping; about 400 chinese takeaways, Beijing Gourmet, 3 Market Street, 01608 642613 (apparently the best) a couple of Indians, Café Le Raj, 2 Horsefair, OX7 5AQ, 01608 641075 recommended; a decent restaurant, Wild Thyme, 10 New Street, OX7 5LJ, 01608 645060 and pretty good fish and chips from Artic Fish Bar, 8 New Street, OX7 5LJ, 01608 641577.

It does boast a good independent book shop, Jaffe & Neale, 1 Middle Row, OX7 5NH, a good Italian deli, Unit 4, Worcester Road Trading Park, OX7 5HJ, 01608 643612 and a fish monger Roger’s, 22 New Street, OX7 5LJ

Market day is on Wednesdays
