About the property

Casa Gelsomino offers a retreat nestled amid rolling hills, with vistas of grapevines, olives and sunflowers. The 19th-century house has been restored using original and new materials: terracotta tiles, chestnut beams and local ironwork. The large pool is in the extensive gardens which surround the house. The brick-built loggia at the front of the house is where you can eat outside but shaded from the summer sun. There's also a big family-size barbecue for a complete al fresco eating experience.

The spacious living room is beautifully furnished with comfortable seating and there's a satellite TV as well as books and games.

The kitchen with island unit is large and also accommodates a dining table which seats eight. There's a dishwasher and fridge freezer. You can access the loggia through French doors in the dining area. In the utility room you'll find the washing machine and a separate WC.

On the first floor is the master bedroom, en-suite bathroom and dressing room with access to a lovely covered private terrazza with views over the garden and surrounding land. Also on this floor are two further bedrooms, one with a double bed, the other has twin beds. There is also a family bathroom.

On the second floor is a large double room which can be made up with a double bed or two twin beds. It has its own bathroom.

vacances reposantes!! Propriétaires sympas!!

  • 4 of 5

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to write and we are very happy that you enjoyed your time at Casa Gelsomino. We will ensure that there is a microwave in the house in future. Thank you for pointing this out. As to the mosquitoes, this year it has been a problem everywhere because the winter was very warm and the spring was very wet so perfect for mosquitoes. C'était un plaisir de vous rencontrer et meilleurs vœux.

Great family vacation at Casa Gelsomino

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a wonderful couple of weeks in this peaceful farmhouse. The weather was lovely and on slow days we didn't get far from the pool. At other times we made it to the beach and explored some of the local hilltop towns picking up ingredients for Marchigiani meals. The kitchen is well equipped and we also enjoyed grilling. Looking forward to our next visit!

Great house for a family holiday

  • 5 of 5

We booked the house for a family holiday. My sister and her husband and kids and my wife and I and our two. We were really pleased with our decision. The house was clean and well-equipped and the people who look after it were nice and helpful.

The house, garden and pool are all big so there was loads of space for the kids to amuse themselves which meant we could relax too. We barbecued a lot and ate outside. We managed to drag the children away from the pool a couple of times and went to the beach and also to the Frassassi Caves one day when the weather was a bit dodgy. They were fantastic. The pizzas at the local place were great and the kids loved the chocolate ones! Chocolate pizza!? Who knew.

I'd recommend the house for a family holiday and who knows, one day we might be back.

Casa Gelsomino is 25 minutes from beaches on the Adriatic Sea, and 40 minutes from hiking trails in the Sibillini National Park.

Many historical attractions can be visited on an easy daytrip: Ascoli Piceno where Anisetta Meletti was first made in 1870 and where you can see the Quintana (jousting tournament) in August; the university town of Macerata home to the famous Sferisterio arena where there are outdoor opera performances in the summer; Urbino, the birthplace of Rafael; Gubbio in Umbria; Arezzo in Tuscany; Assisi and Perugia.

Closer to home you can visit traditional crafts people: a pasta maker in Grottazzolina, cheese makers in nearby Belmonte Piceno, potters at Montottone, and hat makers at Montappone. The area is famous for shoemaking and there are many outlets to visit including Tod's and Loriblu.

The cuisine of Le Marche is varied and delicious, with seafood from the Adriatic, pasta from Campofilone, cheeses from the mountains and wines from across the region. It's easy to find excellent meat locally raised.
