About this property

Beautiful mountain farmhouse with pool & panoramic views

Enjoy our generously sized farmhouse, with marble floors, large rooms and tall ceilings ... perfect for keeping cool in the hot Sardinian summer. We have upgraded the original house to modern standards, with a luxury granite topped kitchen, a large sundeck with incredible views over the mountains to the sea, and a salt water chlorinated swimming pool for your exclusive use. Includes internet access and DVD player.

The bedrooms all have modern comfortable beds - two with large doubles, and one with two singles - and we have carefully chosen both modern and period furniture to enhance the character of the rooms, whilst ensuring plenty of storage for guests.

The bathroom has a granite basin worktop, large mirror, wc, bidet and bath with a shower.

In the old farmyard we have inherited a number of lovely old trees - olive trees, fruit trees and nut trees, and we are in the process of renewal, a process which will take a number of years to mature but in which we intend to bring out the inherent beauty of the location, with large exposed boulders and locally sourced planting.

So beautiful in Spring
Our memories will be of glorious spring days, with clouds of wildflowers appearing on roadsides, blue skies and al fresco eating on the terrace.

Fantastic garden, outside deck & mountain views
My husband and I had a lovely 10 day stay at this holiday home. The house is well decorated, clean, spacious and homely. The bedrooms have lots of hanging space and the beds are very comfortable. The kitchen is well supplied and beautifully finished. By far our favourite area of the property was the outside deck with views over the idyllic mountain landscapes & beautifully, well kept garden. Our mornings started with a nice coffee from the espresso maker in the kitchen (which also makes a great cappuccino!) followed by breakfast on the deck. Then off to explore one of the local towns, Erula or Perfugas, which are both a short drive away and have great shops for veg, cheese, bread, wine & gellato! Not to mention some very delicious local restaurants. There are also lots of amazing beaches within about 30 mins drive of the property to explore. At the end of the day it was great to retreat to this tranquil location where we could listen to nature and watch the stars on the deck loungers with a glass of local wine and/or Mirto. Thank you to our lovely hosts who were very welcoming and had an abundance of local knowledge on the surrounding areas. We had a lovely time.

Fantastic - a home from home
We stayed here for a week in August, with with 2 children and a baby and we truly couldn't fault the house or location. The location is incredibly peaceful, with far reaching views across to the mountains, yet is only a short drive to Perfugas which provides all the amenities you might need. You can access most of the local touristic sites within an hour or so - Castelsardo and Sedini are well worth visiting. The house is equipped with absolutely everything you might need, and is comfortable and spacious. It doesn't get too hot - a fan is all you need at night. The decking with views across the garden is a brilliant place to relax, chill out and eat meals, while the garden itself it very pretty, full of wildlife, plants and colour. Our children loved exploring it. Robin and Elaine couldn't have been more helpful, and the information pack they provide with the house was really useful. We would love to visit again in the future.

Restful holiday!!
Villa Mimosa is the perfect place for a restful holiday. The villa is very comfortable and spacious, the views are fantastic, the local support staff an absolute delight, and the terrace and garden are simply stunning! This was our first trip to Sardinia, and we found that the villa was an ideal base from which to explore both the coastline around the northern part of the island, and the mountains and lakes!!

About the host

Hosted by Elaine and Robin

Host profile image
We are Robin and Elaine, living in Brighton UK, and working there as artist and architect. After falling in love with each other, we fell in love again ... with the northern Sardinian mountain "interior" as it is known by the local community. Elaine is fluent in Italian, which has assisted us in getting to know people in the neighbourhood. Robin is still learning, but can nod and gesture vigorously, sometimes at the right time...

Why they chose this property

Elaine had been visiting Sardinia with her family for many years, and had got to know the northern coast of the island as a holiday camper. We started to explore inland a few years ago, and when we eventually came across our farmhouse we knew it would be a lovely place to live ... one day! In the meantime we have undertaken much upgrading and building works, and have worked hard to create a hard wearing, sustainable, beautiful, and thoroughly enjoyable holiday house for all who visit.

What makes this property unique

The house offers a unique position on the edge of Campudulimu, a small hamlet located between the local market town of Perfugas and Erula village. It boasts a generosity of spirit in it's original conception - the rooms are voluminous, with a shady verandah for cool breakfasting on one side, and a large sundeck with stunning views and a barbecue on the other - ideal for long Mediterranean evenings listening to crickets and owls, and watching the sun slip down behind the dusky mountains whilst engaging with a glass of the very juicy local cananau wine. It is a lovely place to be, and we trust that all our visitors will feel the same. When the heat builds up you can jump into our new swimming pool (2021), which benefits from salt water chlorination and it's own sundeck. Ideal for lazy family days at the house.

When you can drag yourselves away from the house, you can choose to have a seaside holiday - the nearest beaches are 30 minutes away by car - and there are some very lovely locations all along the coast. Or you can focus on the neighbourhood ... for example we have a nuraghe overlooking the house, built overlooking a vertiginous drop into the valley behind, and well worth a short walk, or you can visit Tempio, with its "Centro Historico" and "Piazza del Purgatorio" as well as it's fabulous springs and wild swimming. Or you can sample the unique Sardinian "interior" - the culture of rural life in the mountains, rich with a history of weaving, basketry and bandits - there is even a "Museo del Banditismo" in Aggius. There are caves to explore, petrified forests, and most villages have a museum or a "Domus de Janus" (cave house) to explore.
