About Lorraine Benton

My happy childhood memories are filled with ski-ing and holidays in the mountains. Adventures, fun and freedom are the only way to describe how the mountains make me feel, and it's no wonder that they are my 'happy thoughts' if I wanted to fly! My children in turn share this passion, and we started to ski as a family from when they were only 3 years old. Suffice to say that we are no longer able to keep up with them!

I am a practising visual artist, and the surrounding area is a great inspiration for many of my paintings and a great location for shooting photography.

Why Lorraine Benton chose Morzine

I love the location of the chalet. It is close enough to the village centre that you can walk it in 10-15minutes, or a minutes drive/bus ride away, and far enough from the hubbub to enjoy the peace and serenity of the mountains. The views are simply breath-taking! and I often stand and stare out of the window enjoying the picturesque vista. The chalet sits in the middle of the plot, and is surrounded by garden, with private space to sunbathe or hang out in the garden, and plenty room to park several vehicles. We completely refurbished the chalet from scratch, inspired by the Savoyarde style and wooden furniture of the area.

What makes this apartment unique

Morzine is a year-round resort. It offers so many things to so many people.

Ski-ing & snowboarding are the most obvious winter sports, but there are also many options for the non-skier, such as snowshoeing, dog sledding, Segway, ice-fishing, and there is a swimming pool complex in Morzine and the Aquariaz water park in Avoriaz.

Activities during the summer are too many to list, but include tennis, golf, cycling, VTT, parapenting, canoeing, canyoning, via ferrata, zip-wire parks, mountain climbing, white water rafting, walking and skateboarding. There are many beautiful villages to explore, both near and far, and include botanical gardens, waterfalls and goat villages. The whole area is picturesque and inspirational and an ideal destination for nature lovers and artists alike.

Cozy and friendly, everything you need and perfect for our family, (2adults, 2 kids) skiing holiday

A great experience from the first contact enquiry from which the owner phoned me and offered practical and useful advice about a skiing holiday, (first time skiing for our family of 2 adults and an 11 & 12 year old so some help needed!).

The owner arranged our airport transfers and ski / equipment hire with local contacts / companies which worked great and the shop used for the equipment hire, Caribou Sports, couldn't have been more helpful and they stored the equipment for us overnight in the store so it was warm and dry for us the next day. Caribou was about a 2 minute walk from the bottom of the Plenny lift.

The house is approx. 1 mile from the centre. We didn't attempt the walk as the house was very well served by local buses. The buses are free of charge and come every 10 minutes. The 1 drawback is that the buses stop at 7.30pm however this was perfect for us, as it was perfect time for us to come off the slopes, around 5, deposit our boots and skis in Caribou then have a few drinks during happy hour and a bite to eat before getting the bus back to the house for a well earned rest ready for the next day on the slopes and maybe a G&T in front of the TV.

The house itself has a nice sized lounge / diner and a kitchen area. The bedroom is quite large with 3 full size single beds

Fantastic place to stay

Morzine is a hidden jewel and this chalet was perfect for our purpose. We had a wonderful holiday here.

The chalet was a perfect size for 5 people. The location is superb as there is a free bus service which makes it easy to get around town at any time.

Lorraine, the owner, was on location during out stay and she went more than the extra mile to make us feel welcome and looked after. All our needs were dealt with, both beforehand (organising airport transfers, recommendation of ski hire, grocery shopping for our arrival etc), and during our stay. We cannot recommend this chalet and Lorraine highly enough. A most professional service. Thank you very much indeed. We hope to return !

Just what we needed

We had a lovely peaceful holiday here. The beds were comfy, the kitchen well equipped for self catering, the whole apartment was clean and great to relax in after a day's hiking in the mountains.

The owner was friendly and welcoming with good local knowledge and she even did our shopping before we arrived. We will be back!

Fab weekend of ski-ing

We had a fab 4 days staying here in February. Lorraine was amazingly helpful and hospitable - helping us to arrange transfers from Geneva, ski hire and transport in Morzine. Nothing was too much travel. The chalet is set just outside of the centre of Morzine but near the bus stop, so easy to get to the slopes in the morning.

Idyllic location - far reaching views.

We arrived on a beautiful day and were met by our charming hosts, Lorraine and Martin who welcomed us and showed us around the chalet. Our self-contained apartment, which was spotlessly clean and well-maintained encompassed the entire garden level with amenities that included a fully fitted kitchen, large lounge (with comfortable sofa bed, TV, dining table etc., large bedroom, well appointed shower-room with the usual facilities. French door provided direct access to the garden, delightful views towards Morzine and the stunning landscape, as well as steps up to the driveway. Morzine is a charming town with a choice of lively bars, shops and restaurants. Highly recommended.

Holiday to remember

The accommodation was outstanding and very comfortable. The scenery from the window was spectacular. The owner was very helpful and we would recommend this property to our friends and family. Loved all the restaurant's in the village and enjoyed the walks around the lake and on all the mountains.
