Hello, and thank you for viewing our listing. Our apartment is a first floor (top) 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom (one is en suite to the master bedroom) apartment in beautiful Los Jardines in Calahonda, Mijas Costa. Come and enjoy the fantastic sea views from the terrace; take in the spectacular views whilst sipping a glass of Sangria or a cold beer. There is a smaller terrace off the kitchen that also has sea and mountain views for you to enjoy.

The main terrace has the sun all day with the added benefit of shade from the fitted canopy that is easily operated. Look out over the communal pool that is great for the kids. It is huge, but very family friendly and has a lifeguard on duty at all times. Pool is open from start of May until end of October.

The kitchen is fully fitted with brand new washing machine, dishwasher and fridge freezer. It also has a full size oven and hob. No need to pack loads of clothes, wash as you go. The lounge is a great size with 2 sofas, a dining table and plenty of space. There is internet (hi speed broadband) and TV package for those lazy evenings and a lovely relaxed atmosphere around the complex. For winter rentals there is a heater in the lounge and en suite bathroom. The air-con units also work as heaters should you need them.

It is not a huge complex, it is in a very quiet residential street with plenty of parking. You have your own private steps up to the front door of the lovely whitewashed buildings. They are extremely well-kept with lush gardens and clean and tidy environment. This is our second home, not just a rental !

The main bedroom is a great size with a lovely fully fitted en suite (full size bath with shower, bidet, toilet and wash basin vanity unit). There are sliding patio doors direct to the terrace with those stunning views. This room can be set up as two single beds if required.

The second bedroom is similar but slightly smaller in size with 2 single beds and fitted wardrobes. It is directly next to the main bathroom (quite compact) that has shower, toilet and wash basin. There is a sliding door leading directly onto a smaller terrace at the rear of the apartment that looks onto the street. This also has sea and mountain views !

There is AIR CONDITIONING IN EVERY ROOM ! NO EXTRA CHARGE. Essential for those hot summer nights !

As I say, this is not just a rental. There is a really nice homely feel to the apartment and the area itself. It is just a 10 minute walk to the lovely sandy 'Luna' beach where you can enjoy sunbeds, beach bar and restaurant. From there you can walk to the famous Cabopino Beach with Andy's bar: a live music and party venue for the whole family. There are watersports available: Jetskis, pedalo's and the like.

The nearest airport is Malaga and our apartment is just a 30 minute drive from there. Or you could take the train to Fuengirola and take a cab (about E20). It is an easy commute. We can arrange airport pick up/drop off if required. There are numerous shopping facilities and restaurants, cafes and bars nearby. Explore El Zoco with its bars, restaurants and supermarkets and La Cala, an upmarket centre with shops, bars, restaurants and a large selection of shops.

Please note: the air conditioning units are operated on a timer. Once switched on the air con units can be used for 2 hours. When they go off and you are still indoors all you need to do is press the button again and they will come back on immediately. This is to prevent misuse and save our lovely planet a bit. However. If you require them on due to extreme heat or you are concerned about young children and over heating then please advise. The timer is easily changed and the units will remain on.

The pool is open from May until October.

In order to provide our guests with top quality cleanliness we kindly ask that guests check in no earlier than 3pm and check out before 10am on day of departure. Of course, we can arrange an earlier check in or later check out if required.

Our laundry is cleaned in a launderette by a professional cleaner. They are not just washed in a washing machine.

The views ! The space ! The location ! The pool !

Also the relaxed and tranquil surrounding area yet still near to facilities such as bars and restaurants. This is NOT a large block of flats. It is a very well designed complex of stylish apartments that are cared for to a very high standard.

The pool is great. Very family friendly and most importantly has a lifeguard on duty at ALL TIMES.

What makes this apartment unique

Air con in every room that you do NOT pay extra for. Beware of some properties that charge extra for air con units by having a meter installed. In a hot summer week you could be paying about £5 - £8 PER DAY just to cool down ! Ours is free.

The sea views from the terrace are second to none. I sit there for hours sometimes !

All that you may need....sea views, local amenities, beautiful pool, quiet and secure. Car not essential but a bonus to explore local area.

Fantastic holiday, highly recommended!!

Just returned from a 5 day break. Had a wonderful time. The property was spotless and in a great location, we would describe it home from home. Great facilities which covered all our needs. The owner of the property, Andrew, was great to deal with. We will definitely be returning soon!!!

Very enjoyable stay!

Have rented in Calahonda a couple of times before, halfway up the hill and right on top, but this location in Jardines de Calahonda is ideally located.Although only one bar (opens 4pm.)500m away is uphill on the way back and then 24 steps perhaps not good for the infirm.I would say a car is necessary.The apartment is of a querky shape arrangement, not the usual box rooms, and the large curved terrace( south facing!) gives wonderful views over lawns, trees and the swimming pool towards the sea.Well equiped (inc.english TV and WIFI) I wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Calahonda is situated between Marbella and Fuengirola and is an area chiefly developed for tourism, with extensive apartment blocks and timeshare facilities stretching from the coast into the hills behind.

This self-sufficient resort provides an excellent base for exploring the Costa del Sol. Since the majority of visitors to this part of the coast are British, this is the perfect location if you are looking for a home away from home, in the sun and located on top of the beach. However, if you prefer something a little more traditionally Spanish, then Calahonda probably isn’t the best option for you.

Places to visit

Located a couple of kilometres along the road is Puerto Cabopino, which has the reputation for being the most secluded and picturesque port on the Costa del Sol and is a popular venue for tourists who want to enjoy a good meal before taking a walk along its sandy beaches. Some of the Coasts most popular restaurants, such as Alberts and Giuseppes Pizzeria, are located here.

Nearby you’ll discover Miraflores, a popular golf and lawn bowls resort and a little further on, you come to the area of Mijas and Mijas Pueblo, Andalusia’s most popular white village, which is situated slightly further northeast in the hills.

Calahonda is a new area in terms of human development and so has only one monument. If you travel into the hills of Calahonda, just past the El Portón complex, you will encounter a small Christian monument which, due to its location, stands out like a beacon; on a clear day you should be able to see the whole coast from here, including Africa and Gibraltar. If you’re visiting in summer then take a car, because the walk in the worst of the heat and humidity wont be a practical option.


Calahonda is broken in two by the coastal road, and therefore has a beach-side area, which has a lovely long stretch of sandy beach and a number of pretty villas and urbanizations which back the beach area. There are a number of Chiringuitos (beach restaurants) dotted along the beach.

Close by are the natural sand dunes at Cabopino and the nudist beach and if you are looking for a beach resort with more facilities, then head in either direction, left or right and you will come to one of the popular destinations of Fuengirola (to the left) and Marbella (to the right), where you have great beaches and leisure facilities galore.

Local facilities

The main area of Calahonda, which is visible from the main CN-340 road, has many restaurants and shops, with the best options for shopping, dining and entertainment, located in the El Zoco commercial centre in Calahonda. There is also the excellent Club del Sol which features a gym, tennis, paddle, swimming pool and aerobics.

Eating out

The gastronomy in this part of the Coast is 100% international with influences from all over the globe – British fish and chips, Hungarian goulash, Japanese sushi, Italian pasta and pizza, whatever takes your fancy, it’s available. You could eat a different cuisine every night of your holiday!

Local Festival

Calahonda’s local fiesta provides visitors with the opportunity to sample the pleasant Spanish tradition of Churros, a fried and battered dough, which is generally served with a cup of thick hot chocolate, in which the Churros are dunked – delicious!


Being one of the smaller, but more developed urbanisations on the coast, there are few large nightclubs due to noise pollution laws, but there is a choice of smaller venues, including the Trafalgar Bar in the El Zoco complex, which is busy with visitors all evening until about 3am.

David’s Bar in neighbouring urbanisation Riviera del Sol is also very popular and if you fancy a more upper class, but pricy option then the famous Nikki’s Beach is located around 10 minutes away in the charming area of Elviria, between Calahonda and Marbella.

Across the motorway and adjacent to the El Zoco complex you will find more shops and restaurants, not to mention a gymnasium and other fitness venues.


Calahonda enjoys a sub-tropical Mediterranean climate, with hot summers and warm winters. Cooling breezes from the sea make the summer heat manageable; temperatures average 32 ºC during the summer.
