About the property

Parish Mill

Our beautifully renovated cottage and lodge are the perfect base for exploring the ancient Forest of Dean and Wye Valley. Exposed beams and original stonework are complemented by the homely décor and furnishings providing modern comfort. We are located just outside the picturesque village of Longhope, on the outskirts of the Forest of Dean, & Wye Valley, an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Both properties have their own private garden area with table and chairs and the use of a BBQ, along with shared use of a further 7 acres of carefully maintained gardens and pasture. Baynam brook flows through the estate with a large willow tree along the bank creating a very tranquil setting.

Many of our guests return to try each in turn or come back with family and friends. Both the cottage and lodge can be booked together at a reduce cost.

The village of Longhope has a wealth of activities including a Cookery School, Battlesports, Clay Pigeon Shooting and visits to our local Brewery.

There are castles to explore, trekking, cycling and Go Ape in the ancient Forest of Dean and kayaking down the River Wye.

We are in the perfect location to visit the historic market towns of Ross on Wye and Monmouth, with the City of Gloucester just 10 minutes’ drive away. Slightly further afield are Cheltenham Spa, Bath Cardiff, Bristol and Birmingham.

About Tracey Jervis

I have recently moved to Gloucestershire with my husband and 2 children. We have a beautiful house set in 7 acres of land which we wanted to share with our guests. We moved to the Forest of Dean as we wanted our children to experience the countryside and what it has to offer. I love having my own business and making our guests feel at home in our cottages.

Tracey Jervis purchased this cottage in 2014

Why Tracey Jervis chose Longhope

I fell in love with our house the very first time I saw it, as I am sure you will when you come to stay. The gardens are amazing and well kept, and we have a 5 acre field ideal for walking your dogs and a view not to be missed. Gloucestershire holds special memories in particular the Cotswolds.

What makes this cottage unique

Our house is a converted Mill dating back to the 17th Century. It is steeped in history which I am still looking into.

Amazing and would return in a heartbeat

  • 5 of 5

I can not recommend this cottage enough. The welcome we received was amazing ( and a homemade cake to top it off) and the cottage is just gorgeous and has everything you could possibly need.

We had an fabulous 2 night stay here which was a relaxing girlie weekend away. There is plenty to do around the area and also a small walk to the local pub for some very nice food.

Overall I have no faults at all about the cottage and will be returning one day soon hopefully.

Book it now if you are considering it, Just absolutely stunning.

A lovely property and very welcoming.

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely time enhanced by good weather so we were out and about a lot ,we enjoyed evenings in with log fires, which was lovely.

The cottage is quite close to a mainish road and there were lorries rumbling past during the night, but that was only a minor downside.

We may return.

Great cottage and a lovely setting

  • 5 of 5

Great cottage in a perfect location, spacious, well equipped, clean and tidy inside and out. The log burner was great a fab novelty for us, but to be honest the heating in the cottage was so good you don't need to use it. The gardens are lovely even in the winter, would love to see them in the summer! There was lots of books, dvds and games at the cottage, but with so much to see and do on the doorstep you probably won't get time to use them. The owners were lovely and helpful and on hand if you needed anything. We had a really good week and I would return without hesitation.

Location

Car: necessary

Our village is surrounded by beautiful countryside, ideal for dog walking, cycling or just a gentle stroll. May Hill is just a short drive away, a spectacular view from the top, on a clear day you can see 8 different counties. If you fancy a cookery class, we have Harts Barn Cookery School 200 yards away, or why not try your hand at Clay Pigeon shooting at Chesgrove Shooting School. If you like the idea of a Brewery tour then book a tour with Hillside Brewery. Battlesports and Tag Archery are also on site. Walks in the Forest of Dean are just a short distance away.

We are centrally located and just a short drive away is Cheltenham, the Cotswolds and Bourton on the Water and only an hours drive away from Cardiff, Bristol, Birmingham and Bath.
