This is a unique villa, with one of the best panoramic sea views in Ostuni and Carovigno. It is a new property with everything you will need to make your stay that bit more special.

The pool and grounds are private, with plenty of shade. From each room, you have views of the countryside and amazing sea views.

Location

Car: necessary
Other Activities:

Brindisi known as the gateway to the East, Brindisi has flourished for thousands of years a s the most eastern port of the Italian Peninsular. This city marked the end of the Via Appia in Roman times, and the columns that signaled its entrance can still be seen at the top of a grand flight of stone steps overlooking the port. Here was the setting for the epic sea battle between Caesar and Pomey and the meeting place for Mark Anthony & Octavius when they carved up the empire. The nicest areas are along the waterfront of the old town, where a long row of stylish bars and restaurants line the promenade.

There is also an attractive pedestrian shopping area and a number of interesting sites such as the Castle of Federico 11, the Aragonese Castle and the 12th century Romanesque Cathedral.

Alberobello has been made a UNESCO World Heritage site for its unusual districts of trulli, and conical-roofed houses which are all painted white, built from local limestone, with dry-stone walls. They are fairytale like huts built in the 14th Century. There are a good number of restaurants, but to enjoy the local cuisine, look for something which is away from the tourist traps.

Lecce is a Baroque City, it has a historic centre full of cherubs, and baroque masterpeices. Sometimes described as the ‘Florence of the South’ Lecce’s history goes back a long way - you can still see the ruins of a Roman Threatre and Amphitheatre.

Things to see in Lecce – (Centro Storico) which you can spend a day or two exploring picturesque little lanes. The Basilica di Santa Croce has a fantastical façade, with ornamental strange beasts and allegories. The town has two main focal points: Piazza Sant’Oronzo and Piazza del Duomo. There is also a little tourist ‘train’ which stops at various points of interest. It’s worth visiting the Roman theatre and its little museum in the centre of Lecce (Museo Teatro Romano).

Ostuni is one of the most stunning cities in southern Italy famous for the dazzling effect of its whitewashed houses. In the Church of San Vito Martire there are the remains of a young woman now named ‘Delia’. The young 20 year old pregnant woman had been buried in a hole in a grotto 25,000 years ago. Ostuni boasts many restaurants with traditional Pugliese cuisine, with roast and grilled meat and tasty tangy pasta dishes to suit every palate. Ostuni has also one of the oldest Franciscan convents dating back to 1304. The Cathedral is located on the highest point of the city, which was built between 1435 and 1495, and has a beautiful Gothic facade. Far away you will see the white town perched on a hill, crowned by the cathedral with its colorful dome.

Carovigno is built on a hill, and is a small town, that is relatively unspoilt by Tourism. There are fantastic bars and restaurants. In the centro storico it also boasts a Michelin Star restaurant. During the summer months there is always something to do in the centre, with music, live bands, dancing, and much more. There is also a castle, which hosts many events, of classical music, street artists and food festivals. Torre Guaceto Nature Reserve blissfully free from development, with its rugged shores is a protected area, and allows its visitors to enjoy and escape from the over developed beach resorts. There are plenty of opportunities to observe plant and animal species usually scarce in this part of the world. A mini shuttle service runs from the car parks, but to find your spot on the beach, there may be some walking involved. The sea is clear, clean and warm. There is a visitor centre 3km inland at Serranova which organises nature walks, cycle trekking. There are also guided snorkelling trips. Torre Guaceto is also one of Puglia's top locations for kite surfing. There are water parks, and a zoo in Fasano. Plenty to do if you have young children. Ostuni boasts many restaurants with traditional Pugliese cuisine, with roast and grilled meat and tasty tangy pasta dishes to suit every pallate. The town of Ostuni is surrounded by a medieval fortress wall, and as you meander through the streets, you may stumble upon hidden cafe bars and restaraunts. Definitely worth visiting at night, as there is a buzz of excitement, and people sipping coffee and drinking Spritz - it definitely has a cosmopolitan feel.

Owner's Response: We would like to thank Hayley and her family for booking villa Butterfly. They were great guests, and looked after the villa, leaving it clean and tidy. Wonderful family, who travelled to many parts of the region, to fully explore what Puglia has to offer. Whilst the villa does seem a little remote, once you reach the villa you can really appreciate the fantastic 180° sea views. Raro Villas would welcome these guests back to any of our villas.

Owner's Response: These clients were wonderful. Perfect clients, who looked after the villa, and left it in the same condition in which they found it. I would recommend these clients to any home owner or property manager. We hope to see you next year, if you are visiting Puglia. Luigi Raro Villas
