Notes:
There is a swimming pool with waterslide in St. Savienien and catching crayfish is a family activity available a few hundred yards away. Quite walks are in all directions. Look out for deer, hare, coypu, and foxes. For bird watchers there are lots of egrets, storks,pee-weets, kestrals, buzzards, black kites and hoopoes. Beaches are about an hour away but call at the tourist office to what is on locally. For inclusive family lunches try Le bec fin by the lake in St Savinien or le gare in Talliboug or to go up market the Glycines also in Talliboug. The super-u in St Savinien has most of the things you need but the first monday of the month the street market in Saints is worth a visit.

Dirty and Dated

  • 1 of 5

Whilst the location is good and the overall size of the gite giving good space the place is very dated, which in reality you can live with for a couple of weeks but a basic level of cleanliness is a fundemental expectation. We arrived to a dishwasher full of dirty dishes from previous guests, a cooker extractor hood that has significant amounts of grease and dust build up not only underneath on top but also on the controls. The freezer was full of mould as was the seal (although owner claims this is corrosion) trust me it's mould. Under the beds have clearly never seen a hoover and the amount of cobwebs shows any cleaning that is attempted is not carried out well.

The bath tub had a thick build up of dust around it and the 1 single shower had a very dirty shower tray and the side panels having black spots that I can only assume was more mould.

The equipment in the house is tired and/or broken. The bikes have punctures, gears mash, the ping pong table has broken legs, the outside table covered in fly excrement and the BBQ left with all the burnt coals of previous guests and the cooking grid thick which old cooked food and grease.

We are experienced travellers and this is by far the single most disgusting property we have ever been too. The owner doesn't care less and despite pictures being sent no form of apology was received. I expect if he replies below it will be full of nonsense.

Stay well clear and keep looking for a decent gite, this is not it.
