About Richard

I was born in Windermere but moved away when I was quite small. Most of my family still lived there and I returned in 1996. When I viewed Claverley, it took me about 5 minutes to decide to buy it, it is that kind of property. Regrettably I have had to move away again for employment, and I hope you will love the house as much as me.

Richard purchased this bungalow in 1996

Notes:
Claverley is our former family home and was completely re-furbished and re-furnished when we regrettably left it for new employment. It is centrally located but the large south facing rear garden is quiet and provides privacy. The garden is beautiful although it suffers from the deer that often visit; they have even been known to sleep under the holly tree!

We really enjoyed our stay in this wonderful home. The garden was absolutely beautiful and shopping and dining places were just a quick walk away. The house had everything that we needed for a very comfortable stay!

Great location, spacious family home from home

  • 4 of 5

This is a great property, well equipped, clean and lovely, private grounds. Comfy beds, loads of hot water, ample storage and parking on drive. Easy walk into Bowness and Windermere. I've given this great property a 4* instead of 5 because of our experience on arrival after 5 hours travelling. The heating wasn't on and it was cold, we struggled for 45 minutes with the instructions to turn the heating on and although there were ample supplies of tea and coffee there was no milk for a much needed welcome cuppa. Once sorted the heating worked perfectly. Just a small suggestion that could make a wet autumn arrival much better. Saying this we would definitely stay again. Thank you Richard.

In Bowness on Windermere

The Lake District is the most popular and the largest National Park in England. There are breathtaking lakes and rivers, soaring mountains and picturesque valleys. Windermere and Bowness on Windermere are bustling towns with cafes, pubs and restaurants, gift shops, bookshops, visitor's information centres, cycle hire, outdoor equipment shops and a cinema in all the heart of the Park.

Windermere town has a railway station with a direct service to Manchester Airport and the west coast mainline, supermarkets and the flagship store of Lakeland Ltd and is the base for Mountain Goat Tours, Lakes Supertours Lake District Tours and Kankku off-road driving. Three miles away is the Park Authority's Brockhole Visitors Centre with air park (treetop trek), bicycle and boat hire, pony riding, trails and orienteering.

Ambleside and Waterhead are at the northern end of the lake and are much like Bowness. Lakeside, Newby Bridge and Haverthwaite are at the southern end; they can be visited by road, bus or lake steamer. Lakeside has a preserved steam railway, and is within easy reach of Lakeland Motor Museum.

Thirteen miles away is the Forestry Commission’s Grizedale Forest with a cafe, air park (GoApe), numerous walking and mountain bike trails plus sculptures by leading international artists amongst the trees.
