About the property

5 Bedrooms, 2 baths, pool, garden, in village with all amenities. Beach 2 miles.

Built on the outskirts of Vendres about 20 years ago, the house has 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms(baths & showers) 2 separate WCs, kitchen & a large lounge/dining room.

Outside there is an enormous terrace for outdoor eating and chilling in the evening, a large beautiful mature garden with figs, pomegranites & other fruits. A gardener attends all year round. There is automatic watering (arrosage) which keeps the lawn very green.

BBQ/Plancha available.

Pool/Beach towels provided.

Catering, airport lifts and a well stocked fridge on arrival, are all available(see later).

The pool is 10m x 4m, with a dome cover. The water is saline, which is really soft & easy on the skin & eyes, much nicer than chlorine & absolutely nothing like the sea! The cover keeps the pool immaculate & incredibly warm(28-30C in summer). It also extends the season for using the pool.

There are two downstairs bedrooms: 1 twin & 1 kingsize. Upstairs 3 bedrooms are a twin, a double and a kingsize, so the house sleeps 10 comfortably.

There are also 2 foldaway beds to allow some flexibility, but probably better for those under 6'. There is also a travel cot & highchair available on request (need own linen).

Fans available for the bedrooms; All beds have pocket sprung mattresses; wooden shutters on all windows; double glazing; pull down mosquito blinds if you want to keep windows open at night in the summer.

Linen provided includes bath, kitchen and beach/pool towels.

Large lounge/diner has an extending Oak table for 10, corner sofa, other chairs, coffee table etc. Reversible air-conditioning. Two patio doors to terrace.

There is a 42" LED Panasonic Viera TV with Humax Satellite TV receiver & HD recorder, all UK Freesat channels are available, plus domestic French TV. Yamaha Surround sound speaker for TV, to which music can be streamed via Bluetooth. DVD/Bluray player.

Free Wi-Fi.

The kitchen has an oven with mixed gas and electric hob. Dishwasher & large Samsung Fridge/Freezer with cold Brita water dispenser. Kettle, microwave, cafetiere. We can arrange for food welcome packs to be bought prior to your arrival(there will be a small charge for this) Numerous kitchen cupboards. Well stocked with plenty of crockery & cutlery for 10 people without having to wash up each meal time. Numerous pans, mussel/stock pot, casseroles, seafood accessories.

Oak kitchen table for 4-6 people. Patio doors to terrace for outdoor eating.

On the terrace is an outdoor dining table with chairs for 10. There is also an modular rattan sofa and coffee table. BBQ/Plancha.

The village centre is a 5 min walk & has the following facilities:

mini supermarket(Vidal) & two boulangeries open 7 days; cave; pizzeria; hairdressers; tabac; post office; restaurant; pharmacy; cafe/bar. There is also a small traditional market Tuesday, Thursday & Sunday mornings, from June to Sep, (Fri & Sun in winter).

Tennis courts 200m down road, contact Mairie to use.

Lots of cycle paths, particularly around the nature reserve of Vendres Etang. This is beautiful and very peaceful. There are ruins of an old Roman Temple of Venus and an Aqueduct. You can cycle to the beach with no traffic in 15 mins by just going out the back of the house.

Valras has activities on all the time from music events, food festivals, circus, go-karting, markets & local festivals.

Best supermarkets are large Carrefour in Serignan(open 7 days), Lidl & other shops.

Valras is a vibrant town with a great holiday feel & a whole host of restaurants & shops. A market open every day of the year with numerous stalls selling fresh produce: coquillages, charcuterie, boulangerie, epsicerie. All very helpful & friendly.

We can arrange for:

-Beziers airport pick ups;

-for food & drink to be bought prior to your arrival to really get you started (Cold drinks already in the fridge ready for your arrival!);

-Catering is also available and highly recommended. This service is provided by Mike, a professional chef. Menus are available on our website, or we can send them to you. A number of guests have used this service and it has been superb.

We believe that we have provided most things that should be needed for a comfortable & enjoyable stay and have responded to feedback from this years guests. The reviews so far have been very positive. We have a new pool management team, as the last one was not very 'responsive' and our house keepers are outstanding.

Bookings are Saturday to Saturday, although happy to consider some flexibility around this out of season.

Why Jon & Gaynor Howes chose Vendres

We live in an old house in the UK, which is great, but can get a bit dusty and is an effort to keep clean and tidy. We were therefore looking for a house that was a little easier to manage. This house is about 20 years old, is a great size; with a lovely south facing garden & pool; views of the Med upstairs. It is secure and private, yet not isolated. Being on the edge of a village, with all amenities within walking distance is fantastic. Yet it is a few minutes from wonderful beaches of Valras and Vendres Plages with activities galour, the nature reserve of Vendres Etang, the Canal du Midi and the vibrant resort of Valras Plage. So there is plenty to do, with attractions to suit all tastes (young and old) yet in a peaceful surrounding.

We have fantastic house keepers who keep an eye on the property for us.They can offer pick ups from the airport and food & drink supplies for your arrival & catering from a professional chef! .

Our house keepers can arrange for: - airport pickups or drop off - to stock the kitchen/fridge with essentials, should you wish to have cold drinks in the fridge on arrival! -perhaps more importantly they are also professional chefs and offer a catering service, which many of our guests have used and found to be exceptional. Stunning property close to amazing beaches

We have spend a fabulous week in this large , well equipped beautiful house . The house is finished to an extremely standard with everything you would require for a relaxing holiday . The 5 bedroomed property is extremely spacious , great for a large group , the pool is a good size along with the well kept garden. The location is ideal to explore many of the quaint French towns , beautiful , vast beaches and the nature reserve , also plenty of restaurants in Valras plage . We enjoyed the peacefulness whilst actually at the house , great for relaxing but a nice walk into the local village Vendres. Liked the very easy and short drive from bezier airport and also the brilliant supermarket close by with an amazing fish selection. A brilliant holiday , thank you Gaynor and Jon

Beautiful house, pool and garden

The best holiday villa we've ever stayed in - the owners have gone to so much trouble to equip the house with everything you could possibly need, lots of good quality kitchen equipment, comfy beds, British channels available on TV, absolutely brilliant eating out area on the shaded terrace, and enough sunbeds for everyone around the beautiful pool in a well tended, large attractive garden. Perfect for children as the house is on a quiet cul-de-sac, the garden is secure and the pool has a rigid cover, so no safety worries.

English housekeepers Barb and Mike are on hand in the next village to help with any problems that might arise - we got caught by Ryanair's cancellationfest and our return flight was cancelled. Barb and owner Jon couldn't have been more helpful and supportive.

We would certainly return here and can't recommend it too highly.

Another fantastic home from home holiday in this lovely house!

Repeat trip and we weren't disappointed. Barb & Mike ( the housekeepers/chefs) were the icing on the cake. Thoroughly recommend for families, particularly wonderful for my two boisterous children who at 6 and 5 were in seventh heaven with the pool.

We'll be back!

Lovely property, for two families to share.

The property had everything we needed, great layout for two families especially having two good sized bathrooms! Property clean and well maintained!

The pool was the highlight of the week and kept 5 happy young teens occupied.

We loved the out door seating area and large out door dining we spent every moment outdoors, a great social gathering.

Whilst the weather was extremely hot we did manage to go to Narbonne to the market and wander down the canal, followed by a visit to Le Somail and a trip up the canal, great places to eat and a pretty village.

This is a lovely property and was perfect for our family who stayed there to celebrate my 60th birthday. When I asked everyone for the highlight of their holiday, the answer from everyone was the pool. Mine was the birthday party which consisted of a North African feast cooked and served by Mike and Barbara who look after the house for the owners. Everything was perfect, the outside dining, the outside lounge, the air conditioned lounge/diner and the gardens are a delight. We can thoroughly recommend this house. Thank you!

Cold drinks already in the fridge!

Beach: Vendres beach is huge, quiet & has facilities. There are a number of parking areas nearby, but you do have to walk across the nature reserve for about 5 mins. There is a bar/restaurant/beach club, plus water sports centre, toilets & showers. Sand is fine & sea quite shallow for a good distance. Great for all ages. You can see the Med from the property so it is all of a 5 min drive (3 miles). There are good cycle paths as well.

Valras: Lively beach resort with activities all year. Plenty of restaurants & shops. If you like sea food there is an abundance here. The fresh food market is open every day of the year & has pretty much everything you will need.

Kayaking: one of our favourite days out on the Herault Aude or Orb.

Some beautiful towns to visit (Carcassonne, Pezenas, Montpellier), Castles & Abbeys, Domains and even Spain.
