About the property

5 Bedrooms, 2 baths, pool, garden, in village with all amenities. Beach 2 miles.

Built on the outskirts of Vendres about 15 years ago, the house has 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms(baths & showers) 2 separate WCs, kitchen & a large lounge/dining room.

Outside there is an enormous terrace for outdoor eating and chilling in the evening, a large beautiful mature garden with figs, pomegranites & other fruits. A gardener attends all year round. There is automatic watering (arrosage) which keeps the lawn very green.

BBQ/Plancha available.

Pool/Beach towels provided.

A 10 x 4 pool, with a dome cover. The water is saline, which is really soft & easy on the skin & eyes, much nicer than chlorine & absolutely nothing like the sea! The cover keeps the pool immaculate & incredibly warm(28-30C in summer). It also extends the season for using the pool.

There are two downstairs bedrooms; 1 twin & 1 kingsize. Upstairs 3 bedrooms are a twin, a double and a kingsize, so the house sleeps 10 comfortably.

There are also 2 foldaway beds, to allow some flexibility, which adults could use, but probably better for those under 6'. There is also a travel cot & highchair available on request (need own linen).

Fans available for the bedrooms; All beds have pocket sprung mattresses; wooden shutters on all windows; double glazing; pull down mosquito blinds if you want to keep windows open at night in the summer.

Linen provided includes bath, kitchen and beach/pool towels.

Large lounge/diner has an extending Oak table for 10, corner sofa, other chairs, coffee table etc. Reversible air-conditioning. Two patio doors to terrace.

There is a 42" LED Panasonic Viera TV with Humax Satellite TV receiver & HD recorder, all UK Freesat channels are available, plus domestic French TV. Yamaha Surround sound speaker for TV, to which music can be streamed via Bluetooth. DVD/Bluray player.

Free Wi-Fi.

The kitchen has an oven with mixed gas and electric hob. New dishwasher & large Samsung Fridge/Freezer with cold Brita water dispenser. Ice Machine. Kettle, microwave, cafetiere. We can arrange for food welcome packs to be bought prior to your arrival(there will be a small charge for this) Numerous kitchen cupboards. Well stocked with plenty of crockery & cutlery for 10 people without having to wash up each meal time. Numerous pans, mussel/stock pot, casseroles, seafood accessories.

Oak kitchen table for 4-6 people. Patio doors to terrace for outdoor eating.

On the terrace is an outdoor dining table with chairs for 10. There is also an modular rattan sofa and coffee table. BBQ/Plancha.

The village centre is a 5 min walk & has the following facilities:

mini supermarket(Vidal) & two boulangeries open 7 days; cave; pizzeria; hairdressers; tabac; post office; restaurant; pharmacy; cafe/bar. There is also a small traditional market Tuesday, Thursday & Sunday mornings, from June to Sep, (Fri & Sun in winter).

Tennis courts 200m down road, contact mairie to use.

Lots of cycle paths, particularly around the nature reserve of Vendres Etang. This is beautiful and very peaceful. There are ruins of an old Roman Temple of Venus and an Aqueduct. You can cycle to the beach with no traffic in 15 mins by just going out the back of the house.

Valras has activities on all the time from music events, food festivals, circus, go-karting, markets & local festivals.

Best supermarkets are large Carrefour in Serignan(open 7 days), Lidl & other shops.

Valras is a vibrant town with a great holiday feel & a whole host of restaurants & shops. A market open every day of the year with numerous stalls selling fresh produce: coquillages, charcuterie, boulangerie, epsicerie. All very helpful & friendly.

We can arrange for:

-Beziers airport pick ups;

-for food & drink to be bought prior to your arrival to really get you started (Cold drinks already in the fridge ready for your arrival!);

We believe that we have provided most things that should be needed for a comfortable & enjoyable stay and have responded to feedback from this years guests. The reviews so far have been very positive. We have a new pool management team, as the last one was not very 'responsive' and our house keepers are outstanding.

Bookings are Saturday to Saturday, although happy to consider some flexibility around this out of season.

Please do contact us for any further information, we do usually reply within a few hours.

Happy to work out another payment route, rather than using this site, to save you the booking fees which we have no control over. These were introduced by OD in 2016.

Discounts possible for last minute bookings.

More photos etc on our website:

Also no booking fees if you go through Brittany Ferries website, and you get 20% off crossings.

About Jon & Gaynor Howes

We love France and the French people and have spent many years holidaying in the Languedoc with our four children. It has always been a dream of ours to own a place close the Mediterranean with access to beautiful countryside, wines & seafood. That dream has now become a reality. This is a real luxury for us, so we hope it will be for you too!

Jon & Gaynor Howes purchased this house in 2015

Why Jon & Gaynor Howes chose Beziers area

We live in an old house in the UK, which is great, but can get a bit dusty and is an effort to keep clean and tidy. We were therefore looking for a house that was a little easier to manage. This house is about 15 years old, is a great size; with a lovely south facing garden & pool; views of the Med upstairs. It is secure and private, yet not isolated. Being on the edge of a village, with all amenities within walking distance is fantastic. Yet it is a few minutes from wonderful beaches of Valras and Vendres Plages with activities galour, the nature reserve of Vendres Etang, the Canal du Midi and the vibrant resort of Valras Plage. So there is plenty to do, with attractions to suit all tastes (young and old) yet in a peaceful surrounding.

What makes this house unique

Spacious house & garden.

Lovely pool.

Well stocked, (really important for us, having rented for many years)

In a village with plenty of facilities.

Beach very close by, 10 mins in car with easy parking even in the height of Summer. 15 mins by bike. Huge beaches with restaurants and bar, plus water sports centres.

You can cycle to the beach if necessary.

Valras with is supermarkets and open air market open everyday all year round selling seafood, amongst everything else, is a real bonus.

Easy access to train, airport and motorway.

Plus Montpelier, Carcassone, Perpignan, Narbonne and everything the area has to offer.

We have fantastic house keepers who keep an eye on the property for us They can offer pick ups from the airport and food & drink supplies for your arrival .

Great place to relax and unwind

  • 5 of 5

Good location close to local amenities. Only a few minutes from the beach at Valras-Plage and plenty of good restaurants there. Very quiet in May. The house was fully equipped with everything we needed. Good secure parking and quiet location. Bedrooms and lounge comfortable. Spotlessly clean! Comfortable patio furniture and outside dining table. Pool was great and clean. No complaints at

A great property with great facilities and a team that will sort any issues fast...

  • 5 of 5

We spent two great weeks at this property. All amenities and facilities were great. Lots of glass crockery cutlery not to have to worry about washing up all the time.

The place has a fab pool and large garden and which we could not get the children out of!

Great location for walks and drives to nearby towns and the beach and the big supermarket. For us a perfect location. It allowed us to do what we wanted when we wanted.

The village has 2 great bakers for morning bread - a ritual! The bible that comes with the house is full of excellent tips - all highly recommended.

The only difficulty is lack of hanging space and shelves for clothes in the bedroooms but it is there - just in other parts of the house. Not enough of an issue to dampen the lovely holiday.

The pool was great although we had a couple of greenings - the pool guys were there immediately to sort.

Very highly recommended - we never go back to the same place twice - but are considering changing our minds!

The team that look after it and the owners are brilliant.

Owner's Response: Hi, Many thanks for your review. Really glad you enjoyed it so much. The pool was neglected a little over the winter and needed a new maintenance team as previous ones let us down big time. New electrodes needed and some TLC and I must say is now looking pristine, so sorry about that. We are aware that there is no hanging space in the main bedroom....I have the appropriate solution and it will be fitted by Easter. As this is our first season we very much welcome feedback to improve things, so thank you. Hope to see you return in the future. Best wishes, Jon

Idyllic family holiday! Flew back yesterday and already booked for next year!

  • 5 of 5

Clean, spacious, safe, well equipped house with a lovely atmosphere and family feel. The fresh water pool was lived in by my two young children (5 and 4) and with the gorgeous beaches 10 minutes away we were in heaven. Barb and Mike ( the housekeepers/chefs) were the icing on the cake- they prepared the most incredible meals for us so we could completely relax. Lots and lots to do locally if you can be bothered to get off your sun lounger! We got home and booked again for next year immediately!

Fantastic villa spacious accommodation well equipped in a good location. First Class!

  • 5 of 5

Our party was 2 families including 2 toddlers and we found the villa spacious and tastefully furnished during our stay in June 2016. The owners have thought of everything to ensure we had a comfortable stay. We flew into Beziers airport picked up the hire car and the villa is 15mins from the airport. The owners provided a book of instructions for the property and things to do in the area which we followed as we were visiting for the area for the first time. The weather was good 28 degrees every day. We would spend mornings on trips out to Carcassone (a must), Beziers town, Narbonne (boat trips & markets), Valras Plague (beach), Saragen (beach & markets) have lunch and return to the villa around 2.30pm - 3pm to spend the afternoon lazing around the pool and taking a dip to cool off. The toddlers spent the afternoon in the pool which was warm for them. We ate out on 2 evenings in recommended restaurants but for me my favourite meals were cooked on the gas BBQ at the villa and we all ate on the covered terrace. The local markets and Carrefour Supermarket stock great sea food and steaks & wine. The wifi is excellent, U.K. TV channels, sound bar for music and washing machine, comfortable beds etc etc. We would highly recommend the property it is a gem and will be returning there in the future. First Class!

Welcoming and well equipped - loved it!

  • 5 of 5

I couldn't recommend this house highly enough. It's beautifully furnished and well equipped, with everything you could possibly need in the kitchen (including sharp knives - a luxury on holiday!), good showers and comfortable beds. Jon was really helpful in the lead up to going, and the local caretakers were easy to contact when we were there. Our four year old spent hours in the pool, nearby beaches were beautiful and the village boulangerie was an easy walk every morning. We were only 4, but the house would comfortably accommodate 10. Loved it and didn't want to come home!

Beach: Vendres beach is huge, quiet & has facilities. There are a number of parking areas nearby, but you do have to walk across the nature reserve for about 5 mins. There is a bar/restaurant/beach club, plus water sports centre, toilets & showers. Sand is fine & sea quite shallow for a good distance. Great for all ages. You can see the Med from the property so it is all of a 5 min drive (3 miles). There are good cycle paths as well.

Valras: Lively beach resort with activities all year. Plenty of restaurants & shops. If you like sea food there is an abundance here. The fresh food market is open every day of the year & has pretty much everything you will need.

Kayaking: one of our favourite days out on the Herault Aude or Orb.

Some beautiful towns to visit (Carcassonne, Pezenas, Montpellier), Castles & Abbeys, Domains and even Spain.
