Spacious, stylish and contemporary family-friendly gite in Gavray, Normandy

Bedrooms 3
Property type barn
Minimum Stay 2 - 5 nights

About the property

Normandy Gite Holidays is a former stone and earth barn converted in August 2015 into a contemporary, well equipped and spacious holiday home. The original beams have been left exposed and contrast with the clean lines and light, airy space. The original barn doors have been replaced with a wall of glass allowing natural light to flood into the large entrance foyer. To one side of the foyer is the lounge with a door that leads out onto the patio and garden. Relax with a book from the bookshelves, watch English or French TV or simply chat to friends or family. On the opposite side of the foyer is the kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is well equipped and the dining area seats 6 people comfortably. This is a very sociable space for entertaining friends and family. A downstairs utility room with toilet, handbasin and washing machine completes the downstairs. Upstairs, a generous and relaxing master bedroom with king sized bed and ensuite shower room awaits. Two further bedrooms which can either be twins or doubles, share a tastefully decorated shower room to provide you with complete flexibility. Central heating throughout the gite and a woodburning stove in the lounge ensure it is available all year round. I blog regularly on my website about places to go and things to do in Normandy. Check out the 'Facilities' tab for more information. Read additional reviews of the property in the 'Comments from the owner's guestbook' below.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We've both agreed that we have never stayed at such a well equipped gite/uk cottage. A beautifully tasteful, superior property renovation. Well done, Chris. All the hard work was worth it!

As for the area is concerned, don't be in too much of a hurry to get to the normal 'tourist sights' as there are some local delights you could miss if you don't look. We went to a folk evening in the square and a local choir evening (sounds dry but far from it!). Ask at the Tourist Information Office. Cheap meal galore (except Mont St Michel). Beware £10 at MSM for parking.

All in all, a lovely relaxing holiday made possible by charming, attentive (but respectful) hostess. Thanks, Chris.

Quality holiday home in a beautiful French country villiage

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was great and Chris was a huge help. This was the first family holiday we had been on in around 10 years and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. I am used to being on holidays where I get up and do things and it given this was an area i wasnt familiar with I was hesitant at first about what I would do. Upon arriving though the Gite was full of brochures and maps telling us of all the locations! We actually used one of the maps and just drove around the area with only this map. Chris was also a great help in telling us what to do. Seeing Saint Michel is a must as well as all the little villages surrounding the area.

Overall it was a great experience and I would definitely recommend the gite to my friends thinking of visiting the area. Great holiday home.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your review. It was a pleasure to welcome you and your family to La Manche region of Normandy. I'm pleased that you found the brochures and my recommendations useful. There is so much to see and do in the area and I know that you'd have liked to have seen more. However, you certainly packed a lot into your stay. I hope you've got lots of happy memories of your family time in Normandy.

  • 5 of 5

  • 4 of 5
