Overview

About the property

4 stunning bedrooms. A huge lounge with stunning views across Loch indaal.

Beautifully situated on the Pier side at Bruichaladdich, Islay is the original Pier Masters House. This is a stunning property, beautifully restored to an exceptional standard. Complete with a picturesque beach to the front and boat slipway to the side. This 4 bedroom property benefits from magnificent views of Bruichladdich Distillery and over Lochindaal to Bowmore distillery and beyond. The house is presented over 2 floors with the living room on the upper floor to maximise the exceptional vista. The house has all modern facilities and comes well equipped and presented. There are three double bedrooms, a twin bedroom along with 2 double sofa beds in the living space on the first floor. There is a main bathroom with shower and bath, a separate wc and the master bedroom is complete with its own en-suite and shower.

The large kitchen dining room is fully equipped. It has a large dining table which is the main focus of the room and perfect for large family meals. It has a dishwasher, gas over and hob along with microwave, washing machine, 2 fridges and 2 freezers. Central heating is fitted throughout and the living area has a Juliette balcony directly over the beach below.

The property has it own large driveway suitable for parking 4/5 cars which is fully gated along with a separate large walled garden with bbq area and outside dining area.

The upstairs of the property has stunning views from all windows and is divided into 3 main areas. The far end of the room has a large screen television with free view box, VCR, dvd player and music system.

The other spaces are designed for peace and relaxation with seating overlooking the beach below and along the pier, there is also a place deigned for reading, family games and socialising. There is central eating throughout the property.

There is a large hallway with separate cloak room plus a utility room to the rear of the kitchen.

Bruichladdich itself benefits from a well stocked mini market run by Aileen and is within easy walking distance of the house. You can get a superb breakfast sandwich and hot and cold food served throughout the day, fine italian coffee, a selection of tea and other drinks are available to have in or outside the shop whilst enjoying stunning views over the loch to Bowmore. Bruichaladdich distillery is right on the door step and offers a great friendly welcome, daily tours and an exceptional shop offering whisky, clothing and more. Right next door to the house is the Rhinns boat club and the pier outside the property is alive with activities of all kinds. Excellent fishing and crabbing is available year round on the pier as is bathing on the beach to the front of the house.

A couple of miles away in Port Charlotte, there are fine dining restaurants serving fresh seafood as part of all their menus. The bars and pubs are friendly and full of character. We highly recommend The Lochindaal public house for great Scottish craik and excellent home cooked food. Yan's kitchen offers mouthwatering cuisine with a well equipped, safe, indoor childrens play area to offer some peace whilst dining and The Port Charlotte hotel is centrally located and offers good food, accomodation and live music events throughout the year.

For the whisky lovers then there truly is no other Island to visit. With 8 distilleries on this Scottish Island, whisky is the life and breath of the island. Most of the distilleries are open for visitors and tours take place daily, all year round. There is a local doctors surgery, a well equipped convenience store and a little further along the road is Port Mor with an excellent community hall and well equipped children's playground.

Besides the whisky, the island is alive with wildlife, dramatic changeable weather and a wide variety of music. The island hosts the Feis Iles each May which is a 9 day celebration of whisky and music. The islands championship pipe band along with a huge array of musicians and bands feature during the Feis Iles and it really is an event not to be missed. Most of the islands distilleries take turns to host open days during the festival where whisky and fine music can be found in abundance.

Lovely property on a beautiful island

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a week in October, 4 adults and 2 dogs, loads of room and the house was very clean and well equipped with beautiful views plus when the tide was out we had our own small beach😀? Great time of year to visit lots of wildlife and stunning scenery. Nowhere is far on the island but the Pier House is nicely located. Worth exploring all the small roads that often lead to amazing beaches and quaint 'villages'. The short ferry ride to Jura is an absolute must, one of the nicest places we have ever visited. Not all the bars on Islay are dog friendly but we found enough! The thing that struck us was the friendliness of the locals, amazing!

There were lots of good eating places on the island ( Peateriza and Harbour Inn , Bowmore and Yan's Kitchen and Port Charlotte Hotel ) Go to Saligo bay for an amazing sunset . Good golf course and the girls enjoyed all the beautiful beaches . Also visit the Bruichladdichdistillery . Hope to return one day , thank you

A spacious, comfortable, light and well equiped house

  • 5 of 5

I booked the house for 8 of my close friends, some of whom hadn't met one another. We were delighted with the spacious layout, tasteful decor and furnishings and perfect facilities. We ate in most evenings, which was a delight around the large kitchen table. Bruichladdich is my favourite part of Islay and perfect for exploring bird sanctuaries, walks and beautiful beaches and the Pier House is the best accomodation I have stayed in over many years. Will definately be back.

The property was spacious and extremely well equipped.

  • 5 of 5

There were 10 in our party and the house was large enough for quiet time if you wanted it.

Although the weather was wet and windy most of the time we still got chance to play in the beach in front of the house with the children. The pier was great for crab fishing too.

The kitchen was large and well equipped and this is where we spent most of our time. The views, particularly from upstairs, were beautiful looking over to Bowmore and Jura beyond.

I'd love to return hoping that the weather treats us a little more favourably next time. Having said that the weather did not spoil or holiday, the house was a great place to hide from the rain.

Katrina, the owner is very helpful and responsive with any queries.

Please make sure to go and see Aileen at the local shop for a coffee and bacon sandwich, if not you'll regret it!

Owner's Response: Many thanks for your lovely review and comments. Islay certainly has all weathers and when it sunny there is no place quite like it. Hope you return soon. Kind regards, Katrina
